Survey Thursday 4/22

Here is a survey for this week. Give your answers or opinions:
1. Do you see the Browns making any kind of trade of their top draft pick. If so, what would be the nature of the trade?
2. It has been revealed that Justin Field has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. How do you feel this should affect his draft status?
3. Former Browns Safety TJ Ward has officially retired. What do you think about that?
4. Adrian Peterson is still out looking for an NFL gig. Should a team sign him, or should he just retire?
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?
6. In Europe, about a dozen of the top money European soccer teams are trying to form a "Super League", where they just play each other, and make their own TV deals, and, of course, try to keep ALL the money. Could you see something like that being attempted by any of the teams in the major North American Sports Leagues? Where say all the "Big market" teams, join together and say "we don't need all these small market teams, let's just us 10-12 teams form a league and play each other and keep all the piles of cash"?

My answers:
1. Do you see the Browns making any kind of trade of their top draft pick. If so, what would be the nature of the trade?
I can see the Browns trying to use their draft capital: 9 picks, which I don't think they can use them all, to move up a bit to get a player if they really, really think there is one there worth going for. At this point though, I don't know who that would be, unless someone they really believes in is there in the 15-20 range.
2. It has been revealed that Justin Field has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. How do you feel this should affect his draft status?
I would think/hope not. There should be no stigma associated with Epilepsy. Seizures only come on occasionally, and go away quickly (unless it is an extreme egregious case, which I don't think this is). These things can be managed. Unless a few teams are very very sketchy about it, it should not affect him.
3. Former Browns Safety TJ Ward has officially retired. What do you think about that?
He was a good player here, who, as far as I am concerned dropped off the map after he left. I suppose he may have had a decent career, but was certainly in no limelight whereever else he may have played. I guess I did not know he was still active.
4. Adrian Peterson is still out looking for an NFL gig. Should a team sign him, or should he just retire?
I think he should just retire. My perception is that you can stick a fork in him. Of course, he could prove that wrong.
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?
This is a bit of recency bias IMO. He was bad, but there have been worse. Brady Quinn, statistically, was worse. You go back to the likes of Clifford Charlton, Mike Junkin, Craig Powell who were likely actually worse. Then there was Bobby Garrett....#1 overall pick by the Browns in the 50s. Never played a down for the Browns, and I think only played in like 9 NFL games. JFF just had more publicity than all those guys.
6. In Europe, about a dozen of the top money European soccer teams are trying to form a "Super League", where they just play each other, and make their own TV deals, and, of course, try to keep ALL the money. Could you see something like that being attempted by any of the teams in the major North American Sports Leagues? I do NOT see it happening in the NFL.....though a few greedy assholes like Jerry Jones and Stan Kroenke would probably like it. This sort of a thing could be more of a threat in either MLB or NBA. Some of them may want to make a league consisting of just like Yankees/Dodgers/Red Sox/Cubs/Angels/Giants etc. And in the NBA, some fucking fucktard owners could want to just have the Lakers/Bulls/Knicks/Warriors/Celtics all in a "dominant league".

Article on the "worst player in every team's history" where they named Manziel. (Hell....he was not the worst pick of that draft...that is also the Justin Gilbert draft)
-
TJ Ward career stats. Definitely a dropoff after leaving Cleveland I believe.

Retire with dgnity
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?

1. Do you see the Browns making any kind of trade of their top draft pick. If so, what would be the nature of the trade?
Same as you Gip-if there is a player they think Pitt will take that they truly think is their best player for the team, they will spend some of those extra picks to move ahead.
2. It has been revealed that Justin Field has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. How do you feel this should affect his draft status?
Easily controlled with meds-no effect on draft status.
3. Former Browns Safety TJ Ward has officially retired. What do you think about that?
Good for him.
4. Adrian Peterson is still out looking for an NFL gig. Should a team sign him, or should he just retire?
If he is willing to take 3rd string pay, fine with me.
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?
Just one of the more recent and because he was a QB. But the one we took before him in that draft (#8) was far worse-Justin "head case" Gilbert.

Here is a survey for this week. Give your answers or opinions:
1. Do you see the Browns making any kind of trade of their top draft pick. If so, what would be the nature of the trade?
16-19 for a top WR or DB. More likely DB.
2. It has been revealed that Justin Field has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. How do you feel this should affect his draft status?
He’s an intriguing prospect regardless. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being the top QB in this class. I’m hoping Atlanta and he sits behind Matty Ice for a year.
3. Former Browns Safety TJ Ward has officially retired. What do you think about that?
I thought he retired a few years ago.
4. Adrian Peterson is still out looking for an NFL gig. Should a team sign him, or should he just retire?
He looked like he still had something in the tank last season.
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?
He shares the honor with Brandon Weeden (28 year old draft prospect!!), Justin Gilbert and Brady Quinn.
6. Not sure but MLB maybe.

Well... cash is usually the deciding factor in things... So yes,,, I see something like that happening here... its only a matter of when.. not if....
-
I'd like to win money making a prop bet that both QB's in a playoff game will pass for "more than 00 yards"

When you come right down to it $MONEY$ is the lifeblood of all sports from pee-wee to high school to college to professional play for money sports.
Without cash and/or the efforts of volunteers or paid to play sports it all comes to a grinding stop if the funding stops.
Something to think about.

Like betting on will the sun will come up tomorrow...... nobody will underwrite that bet.
There must be a win/lose element in it for a bet to occur, and often some "juice" in it for the underwriter.

I see a good chance of trading down in to the 2nd round.
2. It has been revealed that Justin Field has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. How do you feel this should affect his draft status?
It can't help. I don't know how easy it is to manage to speculate on if it will hurt.
3. Former Browns Safety TJ Ward has officially retired. What do you think about that?
I don't care.
4. Adrian Peterson is still out looking for an NFL gig. Should a team sign him, or should he just retire?
He's done. Somebody may sign him.
5. In one publication, Johnny Manziel was named the worst draft pick in Browns history. Agree? Disagree? Or who would you give that label too?
Mike Junkin might have been worse

Pro leagues, probably not. They need all the teams to make it work. The NCAA, I could see that. I could see the SEC as an example just doing their own thing, then inviting select others...like OSU to join and play using their own rules and telling the NCAA to take a hike.

Actually, since this is a money thing, the Big Ten is actually a bigger revenue producer than the SEC:
Power Five NCAA conferences generated more than $2.9 billion in combined revenue for the 2019 fiscal year, according to federal tax records obtained by USA TODAY. The Big Ten Conference reported more than $780 million in revenue, the most of any conference, with the SEC second at just shy of $721 million.
What could happen is that like 30 of the big name schools could coalesce and go for all the money. But, I don't know.....as TxAg says, some of these schools have their own sweetheart deals that they may not want to share even with the other big boys. Like Texas.

I think you merge the three #22 boys, Quinn, Weeden and Manziel together and build a monument to its futility.
You know in order to move ahead of Pittspuke this year we could make a trade with a very needy Tenn. team.
Oh don't worry-they are at #22.??

And believe me when I say you have to pay through the nose through "donations" just to get on the list to "maybe" get decent season tickets for which they then charge an arm & a leg. Too many body part missing for my taste, so I look to make a deal for individual tickets via the internet.

All that money. So little results.
