  • the point is the whole speculation is generated just out of open spots on the team. there is not source or info that says that they are even in talks with that trade. We need a #1 WR, and mcdaniels liked BQ last year. that doesn't mean that both teams are persuing a trade with those players. using that same logic you could probably find pleanty of other bogus trade rumors to make up aswell.

using the same rules you could say fitzgerald for DA. but we all know thats not gonna happen.

DA for 6 In-N-Out Double Double's and a White Russian.

Al Davis loves big armed QB's. Mangini is a big guy who obviously likes food. In-N-Out burgers are nowhere to be found in Cleveland. Rob Ryan looks like "The Dude". "The Dude" loves White Russians. Al Davis knows this, being a Coen brothers fanatic.

Therefore, Al Davis offers Mangini something he cannot find in Ohio and Ryan something that he loves to drink, and in return Mangini ships off DA to somewhere where he'll be more appreciated.

Expect to see this on ESPN INsider tomorrow.

    Very funny.

Seriously though....I've often thought that if there was one place that you could possibly ship DA off to, it would be Oakland.

McDaniels is in love with Quinn and we'd be on the better end of a Quinn-Brandon Marshall trade unless he got arrested before reporting.

    LET'S NOT FORGET...

Brandon Marshall had off-the-field troubles in Denver BEFORE McDaniels ever showed up. Has everyone forgotten the "I slipped on a McDonald's hamburger wrapper and put my arm through a TV" alibi?

  • marshall has history of not playing well with others, namely cops and women. He certainly isn't in the running for NFL Citizen of the year. however, the kid shows up on sunday. he may be the best in the league in yards after catches, say many talking heads. he has tight end size with wide out speed. his stats are near the top of the list. players with these assets can help us win on sundays....i am skeptic it will go down as speculated but imo you don't pass up players like marshal. i couldn't care less if he is less that a choir boy off the field...if he can keep the drama to a minimum and not in any way soil the Browns tradition and culture, i welcome him with open arms...

  • There's also a small article on there that says were in the running for Troy Smith. But the article is purely speculation

    It won't happen, you're right.

We need receivers, bad. Really bad. Having Marshall would help greatly.

    If I was Heckert

    3rd Round Pick

    Shaun Rogers

    Brady Quinn

For Marshall and a 2nd round pick.

I think getting Marshall would be great. Why would Denver want Quinn who cannot play and has done nothing? To back up Orton?? Or Rogers who is losing value by the minute.

They may be able to get Marshall for second and one of those two. Or for a first which I would not do considering it is the seven pick

YES!!! that is awesome i said that the other day and its true

quinn and a third maybe both for Marshall. You absolutly can not go into next year with mossiq. as our number one or a draft pick as our one.

Doing so WILL hinder these young recievers no matter how good the rest of the offense is put together. Pull the f%%%%ing trigger then look towards o-line.

  • @cimo. said:

The difference between this and the Moss situation...is that Moss went from maybe the worst organization in all of sports, to one that people were calling the best team in the history of football before they lost to the Giants.

Marshall would be going from a near-playoff team with a decent quarterback (he cried about losing Jay Cutler) to a rebuilding team with a quarterback statistically worse than Kyle Orton and a hardass coach who was quick to ship his last whining WR out of town.

I can't imagine that's the change of scenery he's looking for. I'm sure Rex Ryan would love to have him, though.

If Marshall takes a look at the way we finished the year, and how bad ass our running game was, he will know for sure, He will see some great looks. When they try to put 8 in the box he will dominate.

Of course he won't wonder who is going to throw him the ball. 😉

I would take the guy. Sure, he's a bit of a egghead, but that doesn't bother me as much as it does some.

I think players around the league are beginning to understand the league doesn't mess around with guys who screw up, so i think most players understand where the butter for the bread comes from and are beginning to watch their P's & Q's.

  • quinn isn't worth as much as marshall, so you can forget about a straight up trade.

  • I can see the brownies potentially wanting to trade both DA and BQ but to even consider trading a good character guy and a workhorse like quinn for a douchebag like marshall is insulting...i cant see the browns doing something like this...

The plane should already be on the runway with Quinn and his backs packed.....

The Broncos would be out of their mind (stupid) to do this one......I'm hoping... 😆

  • Imagine Quinn's thought's about this deal if he, growing up as a Browns fan HATING Elway and the Broncos, gets traded to Denver. That would be almost as bad as ending up in Shitsburgh. 😆

  • NO doubt Marshall is extremely talented. He's also Braylon #2, with much better hands. ESPN can speculate all they want to, but if Mangini's first year is any indication Marshall isn't coming to Cleveland.

+1, ESPN actually get people to pay money to read this BS?

Finally, I doubt Holmgren would be that mean to Quinn. Sending a Browns fan to Denver would be like exile to Siberia.

LOL, he's a big meanie. Dude, what is Quinn 12 years old?

  • Zombo said:

Orton just had a good season, Quinn was iffy at best. Marshall is one of the most talented receivers in the league.

Makes no sense at all. Not one iota.

    Marshall's not going anywhere.

    Zombo

--But if he did ... it would be for a whole lot more than Brady Quinn.

    Quinn was IFFY????..

I must have missed those good games 😵

  • I'd take Marshall for sure, but we'd need a QB who can actually get him the ball.

One bad apple does not necessarily spoil the bunch, but in reality i don't see Marshall as a Mangini guy.

  • We would have to give up a hell of a lot to nab Marshall. McDaniels knows what he has, and is also a greedy xxxxing bastard. Personally, I'm still shocked that he found a way to coerce Chicago into giving up two firsts, a third and Orton for Cutler. You think Chicago is regretting that trade now?

Marshall is worth much more than Cutler. They've been together since they were drafted. There was always speculation on who made who better, but I think that matter's been settled this year. Cutler gets traded, Marshall has probably his best season, and earns his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod. Cutler, on the other hand, has his worst statistical year and becomes the scapegoat for Chicago's less-than-spectcular season.

If McDaniels can get that deal for Cutler, imagine what he could get for Marshall. Granted, Cutler was coming off of his best season to date in 2008. But Marshall is coming off of his best season this year, as well. I'd imagine the deal would have to be something similar to Cutler's.

Here's a breakdown of the Cutler deal, and the deal I imagine would have to be in order for Marshall, if Cutler's deal is any indication:

    Cutler (+2009 5th Rd. (140th))

    2009- 1st Rd. (18th)

    2010- 1st Rd. (10th/11th)

    2010- 3rd Rd. (74th/75th)

Kyle Orton (Starting QB for CHI, 4th Round pick (106th))

    Marshall

    2010- 1st Rd. (7th)

    2011- 1st Rd. (TBD, hopefully 32nd, probably >17th)

    2010- 5th Rd. (135th) (They are missing a 2010 5th)

Mohamed Massaquoi (starting WR for CLE, 2nd Round pick (50th))

Now, I don't see this happening. Not in the least. I think, for one, Holmgren/Heckert wouldn't write off on it. Secondly, I don't see Marshall garnering that much in terms of a trade.

Marshall would be a welcome addition in Cleveland, I can tell you that much. He's earned his nickname, he truly is a "beast". But his off-the-field problems would definitely be an influencing factor in Mangini's mind, and what we would have to sacrifice to get him would be a factor in Holmgren's/ Heckert's mind.

All in all, I doubt anything will happen.

i'd much rather have a douchbag, all pro wide receiver who can BANG on the field than a good character, workhorse, marginally skilled, back up QB who most likely does not have the poise/self confidence required to lead his team to the pinnacle..

tell me your post is a satire..

Please- surely you jest. The Browns traded Paul Warfield for a high first rounder. There's not a WR who ever played in the NFL, and you can count Jerry Rice in that statement- that's worth a top 10 pick, another first rounder + a player. That's franchise qb fodder, not a freaking WR!

Some team that thinks they're on the SB cusp and in need of a wr may offer a low first rounder for Marshall, but that will be the extent of it.

I'm just basing it off of Cutler's deal that McDaniels somehow pulled out of his ass. He got Chicago to radically overpay for Cutler, and I expect him to try and get the same deal for Marshall. Do I expect anyone to go for it? Well, that's a different story.

And I believe there are WR's that are worth that. I fully believe that it's the WR that makes the QB, not the other way around. Ultimately, the QB is completely dependant on the WR to actually catch the ball that is thrown to him.

The Paul Warfield trade was a joke.

Cowboys traded the bank for Roy Williams. Marshall is far more talented and the Broncos could easily hold out for a truckload of picks.
