Officials & Squeelers

If you watched Holmes he clearly had both feet in the endzone and control of the ball when he caught it but the main key was that as soon as he caught he kept it close and was able to have the nose of the football cross the plain. Just barely but it was in fact a TD.
The Ravens will cry foul and whine like they always do but that's who they are. A bunch of talkers who whine about everything.
You must have not watched the replay because the ball did not cross the plane at the time of possesion, you being a fan of the steelers is clouding your judgement if you believe that. The ref never even stated the ball crossed the plain making it a touchdown, he STATED "At time of pocession the player had two feet in the end zone" which is NOT a touchdown. The refs were bought and paid for just like in your last superbowl win. You ask anybody not a steeler fan to watch that game and I guarentee they will call it a rigged game. I watched with my own eyes two different plays that a delay of game was not called. How can the Refs get something that simple wrong?

Like I said even if it's not a touchdown who is to say the Steelers dont get it in from the one inch line on 4th down and win the game right there?? If you're going to sit here and tell me the Ravens would have stopped them, I could just as easily said the Steelers would have scored and won the game...How about giving the Steelers offense some credit for going 92 yards at the end of the game and saying what a great drive that was instead of crying and whining about the xxxxing refs...As for the Super Bowl I didnt know the refs told Josh Brown to miss 2 fgs, and for the Seahawks clock management in that game to be horrific, and for Jeremy Stevens to drop 4 big passes that would have been first downs. I also didnt know the refs told the Seattle D to let Willie Parker run a 75 yard td, and for Randle El to throw a 43 yard td pass to Hines Ward late in the 4th quarter to seal the game Also, the refs had a lot to do with letting Ben make a play to Hines Ward before halftime on 3rd and 28 after the Steelers got 2 penalties that would set up the first TD of the game...Did the refs set up those plays in the Super Bowl and rig that as well douchebag??

It barely broke the plane of the goaline and that's all it has to do for it to be a touchdown. They showed the replay numerous times and you can clearly see that even the slighest inch of the ball was on the white stripe which makes it a touchdown...
I think had they ruled that on the field, there wouldn't be so much discussion about it Nationally, but they called that it was a TD because he had two feet down in the end-zone (which by rule, is not a TD).
I'm not so sure the replay was enough to over-turn the call on the field.
The Steelers need help to win again. I hope it is all bad karma and catches up to them in round one.

You would think the Stains fans would be thanking the Steelers for causing Art Modell and his team more misery but I guess when it all comes down to it like you said they're still obsessed with the Steelers. It's a sad sad state of affairs lol...

The Rooney family's gambling operation. The family owns racetracks in New York and Florida, and the team said "these facilities have added forms of gaming that are inconsistent with NFL gambling policy."

Jul 8, 2008 ... Their father, Art Rooney Sr., was heavily involved in gambling and, according to legend, bought the Steelers in 1933 with $2500 in racetrack ...

The Rooney family is in violation of at least two NFL rules:
• The league stipulates one person must own 30 percent of the team's stock.
The Rooney family owns about 80 percent of the team but it is evenly divided among the brothers.
• The league does not permit ownership to be involved in gambling operations, whether government sanctioned or not.

Lum, go away. Why are you here? This isnt a Pac-10 board.
As to the topic at hand, the halftime guys for Sunday Night Football unanimously agreed that there was no way the call on the field should have been overturned. Here is PFT's take:
In a stunning replay ruling that will make referee Walt “Tuck Rule” Coleman roughly as popular in Baltimore as he is in Oakland, the Steelers received a late touchdown on a play in which it appeared to be fairly clear that the ball was not in the end zone at the time Santonio Holmes acquired possession of it.
The ruling on the field was that the ball did not break the plane of the end zone once Holmes caught it. And this means that the call should have been overturned only with conclusive visual evidence — as Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren once explained it, 50 drunks in a bar would all have to agree — that it was a touchdown.
Sorry, Steelers fans. It wasn’t a touchdown.

Victory in the REFS from what I am reading, can't say for myself, cause I did not watch it!
-
And the steeler pukes come out in force trying to explain how everybody under the sun that watched the game today is wrong and that was a legit game and a legit call. LMFAO you guys are blind and stupid if you believe that. Ofcourse if it was my team I wouldnt want to believe they was a bunch of cheaters either but the rest of the world can see the truth. The Rooneys being involed in gambling makes perfect sense. Only way to explain the bull shit calls I have seen watching steeler games. The refs were bought and paid for, no doubt about it, you guys coming on here and trying to explain it away does nothing. Anybody that watched that game knows that was a bullshit call. Two booth reviews, both unmistakably wrong and both in favor for the steelers. Ya that game wasnt rigged.

Why do you even bother caring about the NFL if you think it's rigged?

It was the right call.
If you have the ball in your hands and are standing in the endzone it is a TD, no matter where the ball is.
Simms and Nantz seemed to have a hard-on for Balt in that instance. They kept talking about where the ball was, like that mattered.
Wrong, the ball has to cross the plane of the goal line. When a receiver makes a catch on the end zone sideline and snags a pass out of bounds, but his feet are in, it's a TD because the ball crossed the plane which extends forever out of bounds.
What you are saying is that if a running back runs toward the goal line on 4th-and-1 and slides feet first into the end zone (without the ball crossing), is that a Touch down too?

Not sure what the exact rule is.
However if your feet are in the end zone and you try to down a punt that has not crossed the end line it is a touchback. In that case the feet in endzone dictates a toucback. It may be the same for a catch at the goal line. So the ref may actually have been correct in calling his feet in the end zone made it a
TD. Further if a ball is clearly out of the field of play as it crosses the goa line and is caught with feet in bounds it is also a TD and the Ball never crossed the plane of the goal line. In any case apparently the booth crew had and overhead shot showing the ball crossed the plane in that case it is a moot point wherever his feet were. Futher, they likely would have gotten the 1/2 inch needed if they kept the original spot.
Steelers won and they deserved to win and that is the bottom line. If indeed the referee mispoke the league should state so. They should also officially clarify the ruling which one would assume they will. Just as they admitted to cost the Steelers a TD a few games ago.
The refereeing in the league is pathetic and blown calls abound every game like the phantom holding call on Ray Lewis earlier in the game and that pathetic personal foul call againt the kicker at the end.
Something that really irritates me is judgement calls like a spot can be reviewed but blown penalty callls cannot......the league rules in regards to challenges and reviews are as FUBAR as possible
Good game, the best team won.......
Root for the AFC North to do well in the playoffs
Steelers had the hardest schedule in the NFL and now have won 11 games, they deserve accolades
The Browns need to emulate their formula....play better and renew the rivalry......that was once one of the best in football.....and the fans need to stop whining.....and start demanding excellence
