Fat Slob Rogers

So he obviously doesn't care about playing for shitty teams as long as hes getting paid
And Snyder's been known to overpay for FAs.
There's no doubt Rodgers has talent- when he's motivated to play. This was a pure salary dump by the Browns- the guy wasn't worth close to the $6.9 million the Browns were going to have to pay him. Give some of the money to Rubin instead.
Rich can say he had ESP & that the Browns should never have picked up Rodgers in the first place- but the guy did make a couple of Pro Bowls.

I believe that actual quote from the article is "But Heckert indicated the team was weary of Rogers' attitude and unwillingness to practice. Rogers routinely did not practice until Friday, a light preparation day. He was always listed on the injury report with ankle and hip injuries, yet somehow was active for 15 of the 16 games." Sounds more like he was being lazy and unmotivated that fighting through those injuries in order to play on Sundays. Then Keckert says in the article, "Shaun's a different cat," Heckert said. "Shaun's whole thing -- and he's stated a million times -- is that he's never been on a team that's any good. Every team he's ever been on has been bad. Right or wrong, I think it's taken a toll on him."If he worked hard he would have practiced more last season, he would have gotten more playing time, and there is a good chance that he would still be on the team.
thats exactly what i said. you took 2 different statements and combined them and came up with your own analysis based on the combination of quotes rather than keeping them separate
had he not been hurt or had the team actually been decent, maybe he would've seen more playing time too?
regardless, after reading the other thread im convinced that his release had more to do with him wanting to leave than the team thinking he couldnt play
hes an aging vet that wants to win, i doubt he wanted to come back to a team that is in ANOTHER rebuilding phase

Or had he not been a pussy he would have practiced on these so called "injuries" and had more playing time. It doesn't take some stretch of the imagination to understand that he was over blowing these or faking these injuries in order to sit on his ass most of the week because he was just sick and tired or working hard. Plus putting two quotes from the same article that came one after another in the article isn't making up my own idea. Heckert said they tried to trade him/cut him last year so I highly doubt Heckerts decision to let him go had anything to due with the fact that he wanted out.

Rich, you've criticized pretty much everything about the Browns,
now you brag about one guy who finally doesn't fit, not even one bit?
How's that Maurice Clarett NFL greatness thing workin out for ya, buddy?

As for Rich, he hates everyone. He rather be "right" in our misery than watching us succeed. There is something mentally wrong with somebodoy who claims his two favorite teams are the Browns and Steelers ... let's leave it at that. You get the impression he wishes he was born another 15 miles East so that he could have been a Steeler fan all his life ... he fits in well over there. And he still owes me $2,109 for betting me a dollar per career yard Mo Clarrett v. William Green. I'll never see it, because Rich is not a man of honor.Zombo

Pair of moves hinted at divide between Mangini and Browns front office
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 13, 2011, 11:35 AM EST
Eric Mangini comes from a different coaching tree than Browns President Mike Holmgren and G.M. Tom Heckert. For the most part, it appeared the three men were able to work in harmony despite their different histories.
In an interview with the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, however, Heckert hints at the problems that can happen when a coach and his front office aren’t on the same page.
The Browns traded for Jayme Mitchell from the Vikings in October, but Mitchell never played a single snap for the defense. Heckert called that “bizarre.”
“He was by far our best pass rusher and never got on the field, so I can’t answer that one,” Heckert told Tony Grossi. “Eric watched him [on tape prior to the trade] and Eric liked him. So I don’t know what happened after that. . . . We thought he could really rush the passer.”
Translation: We made a promising trade, but Mangini didn’t want to play him. Mitchell is now an unrestricted free agent. Heckert also said Mangini lobbied to trade running back Jerome Harrison. Heckert admitted Harrison was acting like he didn’t want to be on the team, but it hurt the team’s depth.
“Once Eric wanted us to get rid of Jerome, that’s when it started [going bad],” Heckert said. “Once you get rid of that guy then it’s just tough to find guys.”
After the season, Holmgren and Heckert went about finding a new coach that will presumably have less influence on personnel moves.

i agree, rubin is underpayed and deserves more
rogers never seemed to be in shape. a lot of his aches and pains could be the result of his poor phiysical conditioning. makes you wonder how he passed his physicals.

Or because Heckert straight out said that Rodgers refused to practice except on Fridays and the could not get him on the field. Also said Rodgers was unmotivated due to the fact that he always played for losing teams. No one is denying that Rodgers has talent, but it was obvious that he didn't work hard at all and he had zero motivation to try.And add in from the other thread:
"Heckert said the Browns couldn't move Rogers last year -- release or trade him -- because his $6.9 million salary was guaranteed once he made the final roster of the opening week of the season. That's true of any vested veteran (four years or more experience). "
So the Browns figured having him around for a couple plays a game was better than the nothing they would have had if they had cut him- other than the $6.9 million cap hit- and no other team wanted to pick him up at what he would have to be paid.

Yeah Rich- whatever. From Wiki, to refresh your memory....
On February 29, 2008, Rogers was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Leigh Bodden and a 2008 3rd round pick Andre Fluellen. The Browns run a 3-4 defense, as opposed to the 4-3 defense Rogers played in for Detroit, and Rogers became the Browns' 3-4 nose tackle. In 2008, Rogers finished with 76 tackles (61 solo), 4.5 sacks, and 4 pass deflections in 16 games and was selected as a Pro Bowl reserve.
Savage was so stupid he got a three time Pro Bowler for Bodden and a sack of seeds. But keep up that Savage hate- and go root for the Steelers already!!!!
-
Sure got you all spun as easily as ever. Pushing those buttons is so simple. Just think how I felt the whole time reading from clueless fans here and there raving about how good that fat turd was.
Rogers sucked period. Sewage sucked period. Those problems are fixed.
The saddest part of this thread is Zombo is still a low down spineless lying sob ....that problem is unfixable......PERIOD
Anyway, Rogers came from a 4-3 which he was more suited to anyway when Detroit gave up on the lazy slob and we tried to make him into a 3-4 nose tackle among the other blunders of Savage.
He never did get the players suited to a 3-4 his time here
Further, Rogers was never in good enough shape to play three straight downs without being gassed
BTW, Bodden is still playing and was starting for NE when he went on IR last year.
Things are getting way better under the new management although I did not necessarity feel the had to remove Mangini. He was road kill in the ego department for Holmgren who also wanted a more offensive minded head coach.
The Browns need to focus on drafting offensive skill players NO MORE OL GUYS with top picks
I am going back to being a nice guy again. Thanks all for all the support. GO BROWNS
one last note to answer Canton Legends remark about why Rogers was cut. Simple he was virtually useless the last two seasons and the team performed better on defense in 09 after he went on IR and no team was interested in trading for him. That sums garbage with no work ethic.

I really hate to see our GM smear a player on the way out. It is the kind of conduct one needs to butress a shaky stance.
Rogers{ according to profootball \talk.com) sustained a severe Achilles tear in 2009 and missed the remainder of the season yet was a very productive player until that point.
never read he was a lazy fat slob at that point.
Come 2010 the guy is still hobbled by the injury and often does not practice till Friday SO HE CAN PLAY INJURED.
the guy still played, much less effective yet on a 360lb plus human pushing against other 300lb plus humans you
may see why the leg was still balky, yet he still played aganst the advice of his agent.
Now he is lazy. We cut a man on the mend from a horrible injury from a razor thin talented dline going to a 4-3
and to justify the move we malign him? Watch Rogers produce at a high level again. you want to get rid of 5.5 million
in wasted cap space cut the horrible jake delhomme.
I expect more class from heckert. I disagree with this move and the fact we mocked him out the door
as other teams line up for him is heckert putting a rose on this turd.

our gm didn't call rogers fat, lazy or a slob. you might want to read a couple of posts in this thread before you make such an incorrect statement. rich4steelers is the one who called him that.

I did not write clear enough the words of our Gm cast aspersions on Rogers not wanting to practice(lazy), wanting to play for a winner so he was unmotivated(lazy). Fat slob where words others used.
I saw a player fight through a devastating injury and be on the field on Sundays. fat slob is what others in this board called him. heck, its in the title.
What I want in a Gm is PROFESSIONALISM.
>Heckert is by far the best gm sine the return, not a high bar to step over.
>yet we a cut a top dlineman in an area where we are razor thin.
>we trade for a DE and never use him and dump Harrison ( veiled mock of Mangini)
> does a 180 from last year when he announces we need no wr help.
> declares "tiffany" Pashos as The Guy at RT
>declares Gocong as the Mlber huh?
> declares mr. Glass DQ as OLBer
This is Phil savage stuff. " I only draft em i don't coach em".
I want more from heckert. besides for heckert to call Rogers a fat slob must mean he never passes
any mirrors.
