  • FLOYD, STREETER, MCNUTT (i really have been watching all 3 closely and think they would all be amazing additions to our team)

Wilson & Turbin(if he bulks up his legs, he will be a beast)

The problem is that he HAS put on 20-30 lbs. He was playing at around 240, which is ridiculous.

The main knock on Jeffery is being out of shape, which is very easily remedied. He weighed in at the combine at 216 lbs, which means he's starting to work out again at least.

Incorrect, he didn't even run at the combine.

Honestly, given the choice between the guy who puts up great numbers but has character concerns or the guy who puts up great numbers and is overweight, I'm taking the guy who is overweight. You can shed pounds and get in shape, but it's awfully hard to change who you are as a person.

You dont think being overweight/out of shape is a character concern?? He doesnt have the work ethic to stay in shape? Id rather have the guy with the DUIs that actually has speed, no way Jeffries runs close to the sub 4.5 that Floyd ran at the combine.. I think Little is going to be more successful than Jeffries, he didnt even measure to be that tall, 6'3 I think (ppl were projecting 6'5)

Oh and remember how he got ejected from his team's Bowl game for fighting? No character concerns?

You're comparing knowingly driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol with gaining weight in the offseason? I'm seriously debating whether or not to even respond, because I'm sure you can't be serious.

First of all, Floyd is not nearly as much of a burner as you make it sound.

    From NFL.com

"Floyd does not have game-breaking speed as a deep threat, and consistency has been somewhat of a concern as a senior. Prior injuries could raise somewhat of a red flag along with various off-field issues. "

Floyd's "blazing" 4.47 speed is one hundredth of a second slower than what Jeffery ran just last season in camp. They are the same speed.

Jefferies is the biggest redzone threat in the draft. He easily has the highest vertical of all receivers in the draft, and with a wingspan of 33' and 10 1/4' hands, he catches anything thrown near him. All of those top tier SEC corners that people have been touting have at one time been burnt by Jeffery.

Do you mean that fight? The one where a guy swung at him twice and Jeffery threw zero punches and was still ejected? Sure is showing some huge character concerns there.

He also struggled getting separation against much lesser corners. Against NFL caliber corners, he'll struggle to see the field.

we've got qbs. no receivers no running game, no right side of the OL, one cornerback, 2 decent LBs, one DE and one safety

so that means we need: (in no order of draft)

    2 WRs

    RB

    OL

    2 LBs

    1 DE

    1 CB

    1 S

out of 8 picks? no but let's trade up, giving away 4 picks. leaving us to choose from the bottom of the barrel. great strategy.

Quoting Mike Mayock does not make you an NFL draft analyst.

The only instance of Jeffery "struggling" to gain separation was early on in his career, when he was uncoordinated and had trouble running routes. Jeffery blossomed during his sophomore season, the only year S.Car had a stable QB situation. Unfortunately, that was also the year they had a breakout performance from freshman RB Marcus Lattimore, which hurt Jeffery's receiving numbers.

His two times (shown on more than one occasion) in this video that he's had trouble gaining separation were on future NFL CB's Janoris Jenkins and Dre Kirkpatrick. Even then, he made spectacular catches on your "NFL caliber corners". Jeffery shows great ability to come back to the ball, as he had to stop for Garcia's underthrown balls more often than not. His footwork off the line leaves something to be desired thus far, he stutters on his slant and cut breaks, but that's all easily remedied.

As I've said many times, Alshon will be a tremendous red zone threat, something that we do not have. He may not have burner speed but according to the combine times, no WR in this draft do possess that speed. Not even Kendall Wright. He has all the physical tools, and has shown that he can perform when his QB is actually sober.

  • You call colt a qb? What was the rest of that post again?

No need to quote Mayock. I have my eyes to trust.

The guy is overweight, slow (even for this year's draft class) and can't get open to save his life. He'll be lucky to see the field next year.

  • Browns dont need to draft Tight End at all, i personally thought it was our deepest posisition last year. Pat Shurmur did not properly play Evan Moore last year, five to eight plays a game for the guy with the best hands on the team last year was a tradegy.

He's overweight, yet he weighed in at 216 lbs, four pounds less than Michael Floyd and nine pounds heavier than Blackmon, who's a full 2 inches shorter than Alshon.

He's slow, yet he averages his 40 time a 4.56, two hundredth's of a second slower than Floyd's and Blackmon's 4.54 average. Furthermore, Jeffery's 4.56 is faster than Randle's average of 4.57, and Mayock has Randle as a first round talent.

And you've yet to refute my claim that he can, in fact, get separation with any fact or stats. I even provided a video showcasing him both break away from corners as well as fail to break away in order to present both sides of the argument.

And I've yet to even bring up the fact that straight inline speed will be completely undervalued in the WCO system that we're currently running as most of our routes will be quick slants/hitches/outs/ins off a three step drop. So a more apt judge of speed would be in three corner and shuffle drills.

If Jeffery want's to make it in the NFL he better put on 20-30 more pounds and learn how to block, cause his only chance is switching to TE.

Correct- he ran a turtle time at the combine.

Jeffery didn't even run at the combine.

he's the starting QB of the cleveland browns, starting in front of seneca wallace. here's a copy of the roster. and here's a copy of the rest of the post you didn't care to read. guess truth hurts.

  • If the Browns were akin to Jeffrey as of right now it's almost a lock he's available in the second round. Of course all this changes vastly with pro days and what not, but whether you all think it or not scouts are low on him for reasons people noted above. We'll see how that changes though.

    still not seeing one.

colts not a QB, he's a placeholder. i see you still think that everything else is wrong but colt. the one common element to all those receivers and running backs you think suck...is...the QB.

  • Does every fucking thread have to turn into a QB debate?

On topic I think Blackmon lacks the speed we need. Floyd would be the better fit for us. He not only ran a faster 40 than expected but a noticably quicker gauntlet.

Jeffries is not even on my board...

I think the Browns deficiencies at all those other positons are as pronounced if not more so than at QB.

The Brown DO need another CB, anothe Safety, another couple of LBs, another, a RT, a RG, at least another WR, another RB...especially if they don't keep Hillis.

So, sure, upgrade the QB if the player is there and the price is right....but, as Qui Gon Gin said, be mindful young padawan of our other current needs.

Amen on the QB thing, McCoy is going to be our QB for 2012 like it or not.

Yea the more I look at the video Floyd is the better pick. Can you imagine if we get 2 stud WR's. It's a whole different team. Sure up the right side of the line and give McCoy some time to throw.

  • i wasn't aware that replacing colt would require us to give away our entire draft and stay out of FA.

  • If we don't get RG3 take Blackmon with the 4 and take Hill later in the draft. Blackmon is a sure-handed playmaker and Hill provides our speed/deep threat. Blackmon and Little on the outside and Hill in the slot would be a nice WR core if you ask me. If we do take RG3 I'd still love to see us take Hill. I really like WRs from GT. Hill's height and speed certainly don't hurt either.
