Lose For Draft Position? Bovine Excrement

All I really care about is HOW we play and , as that dictates who we will be going after in the following months.
And Weeden needs to show up, this last game is huge for him this offseason and is a variable in many moves to be made.

I'd be all for losing to get a better draft spot. But if we're playing an AFC North team (especially the fucking Steelers), FUCK THAT. Get the win. If we were playing the Seahawks or some dumb shit, losing wouldn't suck as bad.
Beat the Steelers. Draft SacManJones29 (Jarvis Jones).
-
However, we do NOT want the Steelers to have a better draft pick. They rarely miss around the top 15.
They will draft someone we will have to put up with for the next several years.
But that's not how we should play. Browns should play to win.

Bullshit. They will not do any better if they draft higher as well. They have shown they can draft a quality player in the second part of the draft....so it doesn't make any difference if they get a higher draft pick. In fact, I think they have usually done worse the higher they get.

I don't think it's such a big deal in this years draft seeing how there really isn't any "sure things" in top 5... yet.
The 2012 draft though? With two franchise QB's top 5 worthy, different story.
In the heat of the moment you never want to lose, and never in hell would I root for a loss against Pittsburgh.
But looking back on last season, right now... I'd gladly trade a couple of our wins for rg3 or luck.

If the standings were as they are today, the Browns would draft from 6th to 9th with their 5-10 record. (tied with the Bills/Cards/Titans) So the best they could do is 6th.
If the Browns lose and any of the Raiders/Lions/Eagles win it is possible for the Browns to move up to third I guess giving strength of schedule.
If the Browns win...and none of the Bills/Titans/Cards also win, the Browns would drop to at best 9th. They would tie the Chargers/Bucs/Panthers/Jets who all stand at 6-9. Of course, none of them could win either. Then, at worst the Browns could drop to 13th.
If the Chargers/Bucs/Panthers/Jets all won, and the Steelers lost then they would all be at 7-9, the best they could possibly hope to draft is 10th if they had the weakest SOS (which they wouldn't given the strength of the AFCN).
NO, I am not worried about the freeking Steelers being able to move up to 10 because they could get a good draft pick.
Loser mentality there.

idiots like the OP have a child's mentality of "live in the moment." Adults always think and plan ahead and make present-day sacrifices for the betterment of the future. Losing paves the way for a "possibly" greater future more so than a coke-high, feel good win would do for you on Sunday. What the hell would a win and feel good for a few hours do for you and the team. jack shit. Just like winning a couple meaningless games did jackshit for us to get RG3.

I would disagree.... just checking the draft sites, since 2000 they've drafted in the first 20 picks 5 times and hit on all of them. Burress, Troy P., Ben, Timmons, Pouncy
Not a Steeler expert, but more often than not, they hit when in the top half of the draft.
But still... the Browns shouldn't blow this chance to sweep them.

They generally draft well no matter where they fall in the first round. It doesn't matter if they are in the top 20 picks or not. So for that reason, I disagree with your statement.

We really deserved that second pick in the 2012 draft. 2011 was horrible, if not for a blown call by the refs against Seattle and poor play calling by Del Rio inside the 5 yard line against Jacksonville, we'd have ended the season on a 13 game losing streak.
The Colts however are pros at sucking for draft position. Every time there is some "sure thing" QB coming out somehow miraculously they end up with the #1 pick, Elway,Jeff George,Manning,Luck.

It all comes down to the whole "success breeds success" thing.
They can draft a player and have him get in where he fits, supported by veterans and not asked to do more than necessary.
The Browns however draft guys and immediately pressure them with being the "savior" and put the weight of the franchise on their shoulders.
The rich get richer and the poor have more children.... or draft picks.

The best player in the mocks I've seen who falls to the Browns is Te'o. He has the skillset to be a tackling machine shutting down TE's such as Gronk, but not a savior in any way.
Similarly, last year's #1 LB Kuechly [Panthers, 9] is leading them in tackles and is the reason a relatively no-name D is greatly improved [28/28/25 total/passing/rushing yards last year, 8/8/15 this year]. Chris Gamble has been injured since mid-october.

Idiots like the OP (me) KNOW their fucking history.....and KNOW that the Browns have done just as poorly with a high pick as a mid pick.
We KNOW that it is only a fucking loser that says "lose a game for draft position" because we KNOW that 50% of all first round draft picks can end up being a bust....be they #1 overall or much lower.
Like someone said, the point of playing is to win. If I am watching a Browns game, I want them to win.
If you don't want them to win....you are not a fan....but a fucking loser with a loser's mentality.
The same type of mentality that has had them losing so much for so long.
So, just win baby....and fuck the consequence.

That's fucking Retarded.
We haven't swept the Steelers since 1988.
Draft well ... not high.

We can't do that. The Browns management SUCK at choosing well. SO the next best thing is to draft HIGH--better chances at choosing a great player is higher up in the draft--less chance to screw it up.
