  • So, if Campbell threw for a 60% completion rate and 188 yards and 1.07 TDs and .73 ints, and took 2.15 sacks for 13.97 yards in losses would you be happy?

    Yes, if we win.

    I will be thrilled.

  • Here are just some statistics in Jason Campbell's career:

    31-40 record as a starting QB

    1329/2186 for a 60.8 completion pct

    14,688 yards

    76 TD 3.5 TD%

    52 Ints 2.4 Int. %

    yards/attempt 6.7

    yards/completion 11.1

    yard/game avg 188.3

    153 sacks for 992 yards lost

    6.5% sack rate

    Has 7 4th Quarter comebacks

    Has 10 Game winning drives

    The stats seem fair......a little to high on the sacks though. Maybe he has had real bad o-lines.

    Campbell was doing pretty good before the browns broke his shoulder. I am hoping he can return to being a decent QB. Can we catch lightning in a bottle twice in one season?

    It wouldn't be catching lightning in a bottle twice. It would be proving that we have enough offensive talent for any jackass with half a brain to play QB, which I think is the case.

    Not that Hoyer is a jackass. I think he has the qualities of a franchise QB, personally.

    But Weeden is just a useless chode.

    The test comes Sunday- Campbell hasn't seen live bullets in a long time- and facing the team leading the league in sacks may not exactly be a fair estimation of how good (or not) he is. Weeden got every chance in the world to prove he totally sucks. Jason deserves more than one game.

    No... Campbell is shot.

    He was done physically when Washington was through with him.... and then came the Silver and Black abuse...

    Any remaining emotional spark was snuffed out when he was passed over for Hoyer.

    He was 4-2 being "abused" by the silver and black. Not sure how that translates to being done. I'd be thrilled with a QB that could get us to 4-2.

    Absolutely, I would be happy if in our next 6 games he gave us 4 and 2

    Yup 4-2 in 2011 after being 7-5 in 2010...

    He was asked to be the next Al Davis "mad bomber" behind a bad O-line.

    In 2010 he set personal highs for:

    • YPC and YPA;
    • rushing attempts per game;
    • rushing YPG;
    • sacks per game.

    In 2011 his only best was for broken collar bones per season...

    It's sad to say, but I'd take 7-5.

    That's still 2 more wins than Weeden has had in his entire career.

    based on one game, Campbell looks far from shot. Not the long term guy- but he's WAY better than anything Weeden can give us.

    He looks healthy with a good arm and good wheels, quicker release and better pocket awareness than Captain Shovelpass.

    I just wish Weeden would have sucked in the preseason so that it could have been Campbell/Hoyer all year and we would be up there at the top of the division.

    As stated before we knew anything about how well Hoyer would play i told you campbell would be a very good game manager and give us a chance to win. the guy is far from shot.

    So....what we got was Campbell throwing for 61.1% (22/36) for 293 yards. 2 TDs, -0- Ints, 1 sack for 10 yards.

    You cannot say based on pure stats that he didn't perform well. He did pretty damn good.

    But he had no run game to speak of. Browns had 57 yards rushing compared to Chiefs 136. That does not help.

    Plus apparently Bess was also playing for the opposition...so playing 10 men on 12 is tough.

    Plus, the Browns were 3/12 in 3rd down opportunities. That IS pretty suckass.

    Also, but the defense did no real great shakes....allowing the Chiefs to go 10/19 on third downs.

  • Campbell obviously wasn't Manning out there but he's days better than Weeden dreams to be. He did things crazy like hit open WR's and move around slighlty in the pocket to extend plays. Who knew that was possible! He's not the franchise QB but he certainly played above average against a top tier defense.

    I don't know what game you watched (maybe highlights from McCoy's college days)?

  • Campbell looked good. He is what he is, a competent "dirty starter" or valuable backup in this league. He could have some very real trade value since I do believe that role belongs to Brian Hoyer next year. We could get a player for him from a QB starved team in the offseason.

    But I thought it was almost funny (again) that Chud said the Browns line had their best game as far as pass protection against a lethal Chiefs pass rush. Hmm. Wonder why?

  • It is amazing how the o-line looked horrible against Miami and Baltimore, then suddenly improved against Minnesota and Cincy only to suck again against Detroit and Green Bay and then suddenly they look good again yesterday against KC.

    What the common denominator when the line looks like shit? Could it be a shitty QB who stares down receivers and holds the ball too long?

    He definitely wasn't Manning but, in my honest opinion, he showed everyone that with him under center instead of...well...you know who...we could hope for a .500 season this year.
