Desean Jackson

The thing is: DeSean hasn't changed. He hasn't done anything different than he was doing two, three, four years ago.
The Eagles changed. Chip Kelly doesn't want a part of that, which is completely fine. But don't make it out like DeSean is ramping up his behavior and is out busting rival members at night.
The guy knows people that are in a gang. So do most of you and you know it. Most of you are from or live in Ohio/Western PA. You telling me you don't know somebody in the family?
I, personally, wouldn't want him here if he's going to distract the team by demanding the ball or contract extensions. But that's me.
But here's a scenario:
Sign DJax. Draft Mack at #4. Draft Roby at #26. Draft Su'a-Filo in the second. Trade Sheard and both 2014 3rds for a 2015 1st. Trading Sheard, plus not resigning Rubin after 2015 would free up enough cap space to resign Haden, Cameron, the rest of the DL and keep DJax. Package the two 2015 1sts, move up to take Mariota or Hundley who will probably go in the top 3.
The only hole created will be the departure of Rubin, which can be filled in the second round (or later) in 2015.
Sheard and/or Rubin won't be with the team come this time next season. It's not the best news, but it is true. Hopefully we can get something for one of them.

I'd sign D-Jax..he's never even gotten in real trouble.
The more weapons we have the better. He'd be our second best receiver, that's a good thought if I've ever had one.

the guy is cancer- send him to Oakland or the Bengals.

anybody nowadays that even shows up on the "MIGHT BE AFFILIATED' board needs no attention from the browns, even though cleveland (east) is a great backdrop for shows like the 'first 48'.
we could have the rock coach jackson hernandez, OJ, rice and carruth and call them the bad news browns and r. lewis (or l. taylor or michael irving) could be their manager buying them the best dope and women money can buy.
the AFCN/miami U gang.

Latest reports are the Brownies are making a hard push for him ...

Probably a rumor started by his agent to get more money from Washington. I'd be surprised if he came to Cleveland...

Fox Sports just listed the browns are doing everything possible to bring him to the Browns, for those of you who don't want him for non FOOTBALL related reasons (Dumb) He would be a great piece along this line up who struggled offensively for years we need pickups like this.
-
He would make us a lot better for sure. I thought it was just a play to get him more $ with the Redskins. May be real, we were after Revis also. Cant blame them for getting talent.
-
I'm totally behind Farmer/Pettine & crew & trust their upgrades. I DON'T trust rumor & speculation, so I'll just take a wait & see attitude. When something happens, I'll know.

yes he'd make us better and the need for a #2 WR in the draft will be gone and it would surely steer the FO at either a defensive pick or an OL.
i just don't believe (as TCPO posted) that you start ripping a team apart when they basically got here at the same time and are learning to play together in a good way. no way i would support getting rid of rubin or sheard. sheard was one of heckertt's best picks and looked great his rookie year. he fell off when we changed our defensive scheme for the umpteenth time. rubin has also earned his keep. just because we have a great DL why trade one of them away? unless of course you are going to draft clowney then you can afford to lose sheard. if it were me i'd get rid of kreuger who was nothing but dead weight last year and one of our worse FA signing in years.
also why pay a guy all those dollars when you are staring at 2 of the best WRs in the draft where you sit? rookie minimum vs. money grubbin gang member? (and NO i don't know anyone in a gang. sorry this ain't compton where i'm living).
to sign haden and cameron and blah blah is done every year in the NFL and if the browns can't figure out how to do it then this franchise is doomed.

When Djac scores 2TDs in the home opener with a 60 yard+ in there, all these hell no people will jump to the train and LOVE him come game 2.
-
I don't necessarily want us to blow up the team. I'm just saying that either Rubin or Sheard will be gone, and it will likely be Rubin. If we end up going with Mack in this draft, then it could be Sheard as well.
Here's what I think about DJax:

I don't give a shit about DeSean's gang ties. They're the same gang ties he had when he entered the league. They're the same gang ties he had last year when he got 1,400 yards and 9 TD's. They're the same gang ties he had in 2009 when he got 1,200 yards and 9 TD's. Nobody was complaining then, it's only now that people seem to have a problem.
The guy is still a 3 time Pro Bowler. We don't have one of those.
And...he has less suspensions than both Gordon and Haden. Hm.
-
TCPO....geez man....for someone who acts like they know something, you can't even get a very obvious fact correct.
But I guess, semantically, you were correct. We don't have a 3 time pro bowler (as if the popularity bowl actually means something). We have a 7 time pro bowler....
Makes one wonder about all the other bullshit you run on about.

i don't care about the gang shit either until you have 2 people of equal talent and you put their files on a table in front of you and say "ok, we have an upstanding college athlete in Subject A who we can draft at a fraction of the cost with nothing but accolades from his coaches to his teacher to his preacher and has all the capabilities of being better than subject B who yes, is already proven, been to pro bowls but does still have ties (friends) who are less than desirable who he still has contact with and wants matthew stafford money.
i'm sure all those hell no people would be just fine getting on the train the FIRST week when we keep watkins wearing orange. sure we got holes to fill just like other teams but you don't see them jumping out the window to sign this guy. if we didn't sign anyone else in FA i'd be fine. build through the draft.

Sign him.... It opens up huge possibilities for this draft. With Jackson, it frees up our first four picks to go upgrade QB, OG/OT, ILB, and CB. With Jackson and one of the top QBs this team would have a strong chance at the playoffs (with creative play calling, of course)
Sign Jackson
Draft
1A) Johnny Manziel
1B) Xavier Sua-Filo
2) Bradley Roby
Trade 3A and 3B
2B) Chris Borland
4A) De'Anthony Thomas
On 3rd downs, trot out a weapons lineup of Gordon, Jackson, Hawkins, Cameron, and Thomas. The defense would not be able to key in.
