  • Atlanta put up a nice effort at GB outdoors last nite...

so there's some hope in them hosting PTG indoors,

    if Julio heals...

    Step One: Win out

  • The "race" for the #1 overall draft pick:

    Jacksonville 2-11

    Oakland 2-11

    Tennessee 2-11

    Jets 2-11

    Tampa Bay 2-11

    Washington 3-10

It was like 34-7 at the half, so I turned it off.

  • I have never rooted against Aggie QB Tannehill and the Dolphins before. I will make an exception this week. 😮

  • Here is also this week's version of The Schedule Game:

    Browns

    home Cincinnati 8-4-1

    @ Carolina 4-8-1

    @ Baltimore 8-5

    opponents combined record: 20-18-1

    Bengals

    @ Cleveland 7-6

    home Denver 10-3

    @ Pittsburgh 8-5

    opponents combined record 25-14

    Ravens

    home Jacksonville 2-11

    @ Houston 7-6

    home Cleveland 7-6

    opponents combined record: 16-23

    Steelers

    @ Atlanta 5-8

    home Kansas City 7-6

    home Cincinnati 8-4-1

    opponents combined record: 20-18-1

The Winner of the Schedule game is: Baltimore. Their opponents have the weakest record plus they are home for two out of 3 games. Pittsburgh is next with 2 home games. Their opponents records are nearly the same as the Browns.....but they have 2 at home and the Browns have only 1, plus they do have a game lead.

The Loser of the Schedule game is: Cincinnati. Their opponents have the strongest record, they have 2 out of 3 on the road, plus their one home game is vs. the 10-3 Broncos.

  • Probably want to bold the Bills against GB, we want them to lose as well.

  • My brother is a season ticket holder for the Panthers. There's a reasonable chance that at 6-9-1 he could be selling those tickets as a home playoff game. Let that sink for a second. I'd hope and pray the winner gets to 7 wins (falcons and saints play still so one should at least have 6) but who knows with how crappy they've looked.

The Browns situation is clear: Win out and get a little help.

  • Probably want to bold the Bills against GB, we want them to lose as well.

The Falcons winning Sunday would help all around: Pissburgh loses, and a possible 8-8 finish for an NFCS team stays alive. Atlanta finishes with Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Carolina.

I did other things for a while as well... Came back and it was 34-17... and got even better.

Manziel forces tough choices doesn't he? 😉

  • If we run the table (finishing at least tied with Baltimore), we win the division tiebreak with Balt. right? (Split head to head, Division record 4-2 vs. 3-3)

If so, we need (Browns win each week)

    Atlanta > Pitt

    KC > Pitt

    Denver> Cincy

and we control our destiny at Baltimore. The Cincy>Pitt game doesn't matter. Someone check my math please. According to the ESPN playoff machine thing, a Pitt, Balt, Browns 3-way 10-6 tie goes the Browns way (meaning we need one of the Pitt losses above), but I don't know if ESPN's right there.

  • If we win out, we finish above the Ravens and above Cincy, assuming they get nothing from Denver. So the problem is Pittsburgh, and their superior 'record against common teams' - so we probably need them to lose two out of three, regardless of the opponent - if it's the bengals, that puts the steelers at 3-3 divisionally, so we'd only need them to lose that game and we'd win the tie-breaker based on division record. But, honestly, I can't see Dalton beating Big Ben in that game, so it we need them to choke on the next two - Atlanta I can see as possible, not so sure about KC.

  • It holds more promise about the Pitt vs Atl game after Falcons kept alive with an offensive shoot-out against GB. Still not super warm and fuzzy about it however.

Chiefs I think can win in ketchup field. If Charles runs wild and Smith manages, it could be a W. And their D still can't be looked over either.

Said that before- the clearest road to the playoffs is for the Bengals only win in their last 3 games to be against the Steelers. Of course Browns must win out, one more loss and the Browns are all but mathematically eliminated. A couple Steelers losses wouldn't hurt.

  • The only reasonable playoff route to map out is thru the Division Championship.

Cinci is 1.5 games ahead of us. We cannot tie them, so they have to lose 2. We have to best them so that's one.

PTG owns the "record against common opponents" tie-breaker and has a one-game lead, so they must lose two as well.

EDIT: AKA pretty much what Chris said...

Or lose to the bengals...Division record first over common opponent record. They'd be 3-3, if we win out we'll be 4-2. (Which would also put us over baltimore, at 2-4)

The real drawback is we beat the bengals, they lose to denver (both of which we likely need to win the division, unless PITT loses to ATL and KC, then beat cincy) - they will have nothing to play for going into week 17 other than killing Pitt's chances.

Screw it, I want pitt to lose to ATL, KC, and CIN. Cincinnatti can beat PTG as long as they lose to denver.

Week 17 we knock baltimore into the wild card spot, then we beat them at home. That's what I'd like to see 😉

  • FYI....no team has clinched a playoff spot yet with 3 to go. In past years it always seemed like someone had a division or playoff spot wrapped up by now.

Of course, the NFL has always wished that it would have about teams go 8-8 an another 5-6 go 9-7 or 7-9.

This year it is getting its wish.

lol... yeah... now what you said...

Memo to self: If you insist on doing shit like this at 03:00, at least involve a pencil and some paper...

Ok, lets just simplify it and end all the responses.

If we go 3-0, to win the AFCN we need one of these to happen to PITT and CIN:

BLT is eliminated by losing to us in week 17, giving them a 2-4 division record.

PITT is eliminated by one of the following:

    - Lose two games (ATL, KC, CIN remaining)

    - Lose to CIN (Lose tie breaker to us with a 3-3 division record)

CIN is eliminated by one of the following:

    - Lose 2 games (CLE, DEN, PITT remaining)

    ----

If we say PITT beats both ATL and KC, CIN loses to DEN. Then cincy has nothing to play for in week 17 other than knocking PITT out.

If CIN beats denver, then a win at PITT wins them the division (if we beat ravens week 17)

I think 10-6 gets us in, to a WC if nothing else. Can we sweep though?
