Cinci's GM taking the risk on Vontaze Burfict seems to be working out fine.

They didn't take a "risk" on him, he was undrafted.

Spending the first pick in the draft on a franchise QB who's been accused of sexual assault twice, shop lifting, and screaming "FUCK HER RIGHT IN THE PUSSY" from the top of the table is not even in the same ball park as an undrafted linebacker who smoked marijuana and was considered "a personal foul machine" on the field.

Well you're certainly better at arguing than mik, but he did not specify first round.

Also, Burfict slipped for more than that. He had first round-level tape. That's a fact. My point is that Burfict has proved to be a take. He would have been a take as a third rounder. Maybe higher. Mik said that taking a chance on a player with questionable character means you have one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel.

Everything has a price. If we take Mik's statement to the extreme, let's stipulate that Jameis Winston didn't get drafted, just like Burfict. He's available for pennies on the dollar. So a GM that signs him has "one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel"? Uh, no. The price was right.

Well no shit the higher that player is drafted the bigger the risk the GM is taking...

I can't speak for Mik but I think he's implying that if you draft a player in the top 10 who has character issues you are rolling the dice and i have to agree.

I don't see a big issue in taking a character flawed guy in the 5-UDFA rounds because the investment isn't high and the payoff could be good.

Jameis Winston will get drafted at some point but we are talking the VERY FIRST PICK IN THE DRAFT INVOLVING THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION.

Worthless logic and response from Woody per usual. Not even worth attempting to reply.

Walter, I wasn't talking about the top 10. He made a blanket statement and I wanted to expose how ridiculous it was. I'm arguing that the price is always right once it gets to a point. No, most of the time that point is not in the top 10. Although if there's a generational JJ Watt type of guy in the draft and he falls to 10, I wouldn't mind it. Especially if I had two first round picks.

what defense? you think drafting a knumbskull looks good on your resume? ok, they might not get fired but i'm sure the other GMs at the GM table over dinner and drinks sure let them have it.

I hear that Tampa Bay may trade down to #3 with Jacksonville...who desperately want to take Leonard Williams...thus leaving Tennessee with the "burden" of choosing between Winston and Mariota.....and at #3 they would take the QB that is left.

Would Jacksonville do that just to keep Tennessee from drafting Williams at #2?

I hear the Browns may be interested in your boy Mannion....in late rounds...or as UDFA if he isn't taken.

    Give us your scouting report.

    Edit: Here is NFL.com's: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/sean-mannion?id=2552576

Someone said today that he is a Tom Brady wannabe. (Isn't every tall QB slated to go in Rd. 6?)

Well, that's the rumor. Having taken Bortles last year....who they think may be as good as either of the top 2 guys this year, they want the best at another position....and yes, I believe they have a fear of losing Williams. They would not want TB to take Winston then Tenn. to take Williams.

Williams is considered the best talent in the draft....but because he is not a QB he is not considered for #1....unless Jax or someone else with an established QB makes the move up to #1.

There's rumors out here that Tennessee wants to trade with the Chargers. The Titans would get Rivers and the 17 pick and the Chargers get the #2 this year and probably next years #1. The Chargers then take Mariotta and he's the face of the franchise when they move to LA. Rivers isn't signing an extension because of the potential move to LA.
