  • ^ Looks like a good football player

  • So htown, I want you to sell us on what you think is special about the kid. He is big, short, and not particularly fast. That said, he was first team All-Big 12 (whatever that's worth). Looking forward to it.

More goes into what makes a good football player, lots more. For example Mingo is tall, athletic and fast - and we've all seen how well that's worked out so far.

  • So the logic is that the opposite would work out better? I'm not dogging the kid, just pointing out that nothing jumps off the intangibles sheet after a cursory glance.

Also, Mingo is solid, but that's neither here nor there.

Never said the opposite would work out better. Mingo is far from solid.

  • PFF's got him at the 6th best played on our D last season.

Guess they don't know what setting an edge is. He will be lucky to break into the starting 11 this year.

I agree he isn't fast but he has plus hands, which is always a positive.

I think his value will be more in a H back type role if he makes the team. Maybe even at fullback if he shows he can finish blocks.

That was the knock on him coming out. Yet somehow he was always in position for the catch. So he has hands and an understanding of how to get open in spite of a lack of height and speed. We shall see what he does.

With my wife and my daughter I have seen enough "model" shows in my time to tell you that her facial looks are as good or better than most of the models out there.

    Barberton model shows don't count.

Project Runway will next be broadcast from the Lake Anna Gazebo.

  • I'm OK with Bibbs having unexpected, receiving upside. The league is full of good receivers that earn a living off of establishing body position and hands. That's what the brief video showed a few instances of.

What it showed next to nothing of is solid blocking. That is what will earn him a slot on the 53 or PS.

  • Honestly have no opinion on Bibbs(or a number of other low profile players on the team)....though the Browns do seem to be placing a lot of emphasis on touting these secondary players early....

So far, mostly Ive been hearing(and reading) the coaches talk about guys like Bibbs, Carder, Poyer, Kwaun, Bowie, etc etc,,,,and very little about the better players and/or regular starters...

so are they touting these guys because all our 2nd stringers just got very good or are they just driving competition by building up the lesser players?.......dunno.....

But Id say Bibbs(as well as others at other positions) has a long steep hill to climb to gain a spot over Barnidge, Dray, Housler, Williams & Telfer...

His tape looks good.....but, then again, dont all highlight tapes look good?......

  • Props to htownbrown, he called it:

If l copied this right it has some combine stats for Bibbs. List him as 6'2". Not sure that was considered short for a TE. Too short for a TE, too tall for a FB?

I'm with Tour on this. Can he block?

  • I believe he went undrafted because he was hurt much of his senior year.

  • Bibbs played in 10 of the Cyclones 12 games in 2014. He was not highly regarded.

Here was one pre-season take on him...

06/05/14 - Iowa State's top NFL Draft-Eligible prospects to watch in 2014: 1. TE E.J. Bibbs, Senior...A highly recruited JUCO transfer a year ago, Bibbs stepped in as a starter for the Cyclones and finished 2013 as the team's second-leading receiver with 39 catches for 462 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was used as more of an inline blocker, but still proved capable in the passing game with good body control and hand-eye coordination to snare off-target throws.

Bibbs has solid size and frame with room to get stronger, but his upper body strength is average at-best and he needs to improve his hand placement to do more than simply get in the way of defenders. He shows some laziness in his routes and needs to do more to create separation, but lowers his pads well as a ballcarrier, staying balanced through contact. Bibbs is one of the few bright spots for an offense that ranked near the bottom of the Big 12 last year in most categories. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

  • He looks to be another example of not being able to measure a man's heart as well as his desire to play...... Without those two things, all of the other numbers don't mean squat.

I hope the kid succeeds and becomes a star.

  • Charles Clay is 6'3 barely.

6'2 as FB/Hback/TE/MoveTE is very possible. If he has a similar career path, minus injuries, I'll be very happy.

  • What is MoveTE?
