Ohio City advice

I and three friends are over for the Cards game in two weeks and have found a place on airbnb that can accommodate us. Getting a hotel downtown with two twin beds or four singles has proved impossible so now thinking of going down this route.
Ohio City doesn't look far from Downtown or the Stadium on the map?
Assume it's safe enough?

Ohio City is great - perfect if you don't want to be shoulder-to-shoulder at some of the downtown places, and you can get better beer for cheaper.
It's is where Great Lakes brewery is, market garden brewery, nano brewery, bier markt, among others. It's the primo beer capital of ohio. Also you could take a walk around the west side market one afternoon.
That being said you probably wouldn't walk from Ohio City to downtown and some of the areas around it aren't the best (Tremont has had a bunch of car jackings and burglaries this year) - you would take a cab/uber/lyft to get downtown but it wouldn't be very expensive.

By the way, before you come....watch the movie "A Christmas Story". I know from my British relatives that this movie is not well known in England.....but is it one of THE most beloved movies in American history. I don't know it it translates all that well...but it is pure Americana.
The house that A Christmas Story was set in is right there in the Ohio City/Tremont area. And some of the action took place in downtown Cleveland around Terminal Tower.

Wear body armor in OH city? Which parts? i'm usually in the neighborhoods surrounding the school at least 2-3 times a month and i haven't seen anything objectionable. Is it if you go way down Lorain or something that it gets bad?

If you're not on the main strip by 25th it can be a little sketchy at night. Tremont has had all kinds of stuff go down this year - like car jackings in broad daylight.

best advice about ohio city is don't go to ohio city.

Two of the worst slums in the city are right in ohio city. You wouldn't catch me there after dark that's for sure. Not unarmed anyway.

I wouldn't say the worst, but if you're in the immediate area on 25th by all the good places it isn't bad

25th is fine, although I'm not really sure what hotels are over there I haven't noticed any.
I'd suggest maybe south, like Independence. It's a pretty quick shot to downtown and a nice area.
