No....but hint: it is about QB......but more basic than that.

The Gipper

Just a comment on Question #1.....wherein it is a fact that no Big Ten QB has been drafted in the first round since 1995 when Kerry Collins was taken from Penn St. Of course, while no Big Ten QBs have been taken in the first round....Big Ten QBs have been taken. And here are a few:

Tom Brady...Mich

Drew Brees...Purdue

Russell Wilson....Wisc.

do you think a few teams would now like to have taken a first round shot at these guys? (though Brees was the #32 selection when taken when there were only 31 picks......and at #33 the Browns took Quincy Morgan...OI!)

Also the following have all been Big Ten QBs taken in the draft since Kerry Collins was chosen who have had "decent NFL careers, i.e have had some productivity if not outstandint:

Trent Green....Indiana

Kyle Orton...Purdue

Brian Griese...Michigan

Chad Henne...Michigan

Brian Hoyer....Mich St.

Kirk Cousins....Mich. St.

and the following were at least drafted. Some never made it at all, some were given some chances:

Trevor Siemian... Northwestern

Ricki Stanzi....Iowa

Mike Kafka....Northwestern

Curtis Painter....Purdue

Drew Stanton...Mich. St.

Troy Smith....Ohio St.

Craig Krenzel....Ohio St.

Jim Sorgi....Wisc.

Jeff Smoker....Mich. St.

Drew Henson....Michigan

Gibran Hamden...Indiana

Kurt Kittner....Illinois

Steve Bellisari...Ohio St.

Joe Germaine....Ohio St.

Wally Richardson....Penn St.

Tony Banks....Mich St.

Bobby Hoying....Ohio St.

Todd Collins....Michigan

Tupa was a good dude. Not really a starting QB in the league....but a good punter.....and a guy that could get you two points.

He is credited as being the first person in NFL history to score on a two point conversion after a TD. Hence the nickname Tommy "Two Point" Tupa.

Answers:

1. Who was the last QB from a current Big Ten school that was drafted in the first round?

Kerry Collins Penn St. 1995

2. What does this list represent: Southern Miss/Tennessee/Pitt/Purdue/Michigan/Stanford/Washington

Georgia/Miami/Washington St. ?

I thought this would be easier: These are the alma maters of the Top Ten in all time passing yards:

So. Miss=Favre, Tennessee=Peyton. Pitt=Marino. Purdue=Brees. Michigan=Brady. Stanford=Elway. Washington=Moon. Georgia=Tarkenton. Miami=Testaverde. Washington St.=Bledsoe

3. What is the Browns head to head record all time against the Cardinals?

(Note: Browns/Cards have never played a postseason game)

33-13-3. From like 1950 to 1970 the two were in the same division and played twice a year.

4. Which QBs that have lead the Browns in passing in a season have also lead the Cardinals in passing in a season?

Derek Anderson.....and Josh McCown....assuming he will be the Browns passing leader by the end of the season. Maybe not?

5. What player that lead the Cardinals in passing in a season lead the Browns in punting in a season?

Tom Tupa. Spent a year as Cards primary QB.

6. What Browns leading rusher had his dad lead the Cardinals in rushing for a season or two?

Eric Metcalf....dad Terry Metcalf who spent most of his career with the Cards.

7. Which franchise has won more games in its history, the Browns or the Cardinals?

The Cardinals (at the beginning of this year) won 528 games all time. The Browns won 469

But the Cards have lost 729 games....most of any NFL franchise. Browns lost 458

Cards are one of only two original NFL teams with Bears...and have been played 25-30 more seasons than the Browns.

8. How any NFL titles have the Cardinals franchise won since its inception in 1920?

Two, in 1925 (disputed as the Pottsville Maroons have an argument about that), and 1947

9. What unique distinction does the Cardinals franchise share with the Texans when it comes to postseason play?

In 95 years of play, the Cardinals have never lost a home playoff game. Of course, they have been so bad they have made the playoffs so few times. I believe in those 95 years....they have only hosted 4 postseason games....and are 4-0.

10. How did the Cardinals get their name?

They got them from the color of the uniforms that they borrowed from the University of Chicago. They were give faded maroon jerseys....which someone called being "Cardinal Red".....so they took the name Cardinals after that color and not after the bird. They adopted the bird logo only in like 1960 when they moved to St. Louis.

11. What teams did the Cardinals defeat on the way to their one undisputed NFL title?

They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game, then the Phil. Eagles in the NFL title game.

12.A. What 1946 Cardinals first round draft pick played most of his career with the Browns?

Dub Jones

B. Who was the Cardinals first round pick in 1965?

Joe Namath

C. What Cardinals first round draft pick in 1994 made the Pro Bowl for the Browns?

Jamir Miller

13. What is the only NFL franchise where the current owner(s) have owned the team longer than Cards owner has owned the Cards?

That would be the Green Bay Packers....who are not owned by a person but by the community.

Bill Bidwill, Cardinals owner....who is probably senile by now, has been the principal owner of the Cardinals since 1972. The Bidwill family is I believe the second or third oldest family group to own an NFL team.:

The Halas family and/ the Mara family may have a longer ownership.

The other longest held individual owners of NFL teams behind Bill Bidwill are:

Virginia McCaskey has been the Bears owner since 1983

Alex Spanos has owned the Chargers since 1984

Pat Bowlen has owned the Broncos since 1984

Tom Benson has owned the Saints since 1985
