Its not winning. It is letting the rest of the young players develop. Having a veteran will help the likes of Drango/Coleman/Pryor/the other Coleman/Higgins/Duke/Crowell/Payton/Higgins etc. etc. have a chance at developing their skill and craft.

Putting Kessler in there will NOT allow these guys to develop. You must give them some ability to gain confidence. Kessler's inexperience and failure will be considered the failure of all these young players.

    Give them a chance.

Also, it could help to give the kids on defense a chance as well.

Having a veteran, somewhat capable QB will help all the young players develop....and that, obviously, is the prime directive for this team.

What makes you think that some couch FA is going to be able to play well enough to develop the young WRs? There is a reason they are sitting on the couch.

Kessler and Hogan aren't young players that need to be developed?

They are, but honestly, their time is not now. And in my opinion you play them and you Retard the development of the other young players. You make the entire young roster fodder to be shredded by other teams and they ALL suffer and have their confidence eroded.

Those street FAs may be sitting on a couch now, but many of them have experience at running an NFL offense. Kessler and Hogan have zip in that regard.

Kessler and Hogan can get their education the way many other young QBs get it: by sitting on the bench learning, and in playing a bit in mop up roles....not by having the entire team's efforts on their shoulders.

They just are not ready for that. At least Kessler isn't from his time in the preseason.

  • Cant say we didnt see this coming.....cough cough...

Why sign anybody??!!....let the young guys play.....winning aint the goal, player development is.....

Go with McCown, Kessler and Hogan and just call it a season.....

We already have a veteran on the roster Gip. His name is Josh McCown. Only if should he should get hurt I would say there's a FAINT chance we'd sign a veteran- and certainly not Vick. It's youth movement time- we threw Nassib, Ogbah, and Schobert to the wolves on D, got a strong feeling if McCown gets hurt, they'll do the same with Kessler and Hogan.

PS- and you don't think the young guys confidence won't start to get eroded when the losses start piling up? Right now the team is such a mess it wouldn't matter much if Aaron Rodgers was doing the quarterbacking.

That Brady guy is sitting on a couch.

Also, Peyton Manning is about the only guy sitting around doing nothing with deep ties to the haslams that would be worth a shot.

I think a QB is a whole different thing than a DE or LB. He is the leader of the offense. And I am talking about when McC goes down (it is literally a when, not an if). Kessler is not ready to barely take an NFL snap. He looked like a deer in the headlights.....against 3rd stringers...in preseason.

  • why sign another qb when the season is lost anyways? crap talent at most positions. FO that has dumped everything (some good, some bad).

i say let all these guys take their lumps. fuck 'em. that's what we're paying this disgraceful shit-show for. then the QBs can go in the FO at the end of the season and beat the shit out of sushi and deport with their walkers and canes.

I say more "young talent" at most positions. Hopefully they will not turn out to be crap.

Again, I would rather that one guy sit out taking their lumps (QB) so that the other 7-8 young players can better learn.

Note....this thread could just as easily have been: Browns could trade for Kaepernick. Browns could trade for Geno Smith. Browns could trade for Mike Glennon.

All of these things were speculated in the article in the OP. Its just that Vick is the one guy that is a street free agent. (not the one guy....just the one mentioned in the article) The others would cost draft picks.....precious commodities to the boys from Hahvahd Yahd.

The article in the "Inquisitor" that goes on to suggest that you will be shocked to see what Honey Boo Boo looks like today?

You are wasting your time analyzing this, there is as good a chance of Honey Boo Boo suiting up for us as Vick.

So? What embarrassing punishment will you self impose if Vick is signed?

I say that you have to streak the tailgate in November.

None....in fact, I get kudos and congratulations for keeping the debate flowing. And a cash honorarium would be good as well. You want to punish someone....punish the guy that started the thread. 😉

Seems the Eagles threw Wentz right into the fray. Kessler has had more experience at a higher level. Plus now as the #1 backup he'll get some practice reps with the first team- Hue would be crazy not to. Pryor will probably be the emergency quarterback.

Ha- RG III was pretty close to that look- against the Eagles. If we're getting blown out- sit McCown, and put Kessler in- 4th quarter garbage time.

The Eagles are a far more experienced team than the Browns overall. Wentz is the only rookie starting for that team offense or defense, plus there are only 2 other second year starters...including Agholor.

Browns have 8-9 rookie and 2d year starters...and far more at backup roles.

That would be fine. Get him some experience.

    think about that....

Why so down on Josh? For real they guy is tough as nails and a real genuine good dude. He played well last year. Those losses were not on him most times and his stats are the best we have had in YEARS.

If Kessler has any shot at being good longer term he would be ruined by actual game action this year. If you cant see that from the pre season not sure what to say. The game is way to fast for him at this point.

  • Mike Vick - Rumor that Browns are interested. I'll take Derek Anderson however.

    Please say it ain't so.

    http://www.inquisitr.com/3505277/nfl-rumors-cleveland-browns-could-sign-veteran-qb-michael-vick/

To spur on other discussion. I spent two years in North Carolina (just moved back to OH this past spring) and the fans of the Panthers loved Derek Anderson. Flame me all you want, but I would take Derek Anderson over any of the "floating" options out there right now. He's experienced and has an arm that could stretch the field and keep up with our receivers.

he stinks. after he lost to the 2 worst teams in the nfl by throwing pick 6 after pick 6 the yr we went 10-6 and did not make the playoffs, i want no part of him...my wife said he got the yips meaning the first half of that season he was dead on however somewhere during the 2 part of the season he kept overthrowing the ball 10 ft of the receivers head or throwing pick after pick and that was that...i remember it carrying over to the pro bowl also and then into the cardinal where he really stunk...
