The second half superbowl and the Browns first round picks

The Browns Board

  • Not your worst thought ever...

ATL owed a good bit of it's early pressure success to taking away early reads... even produced a pick-6 in one instance. Give NE credit for adjusting.

But a couple of the sacks by Jackson were off clean beats of the OL across from him and the just-a-beat-late, knock downs Brady suffered, some bigger than some of the sacks' blows, had an effect as well.

Stay the course... elite edge is rarely than productive DBs... and you need both.

... but $10 is "huge"? I know huge is now an integral part of your adopted vernacular, but "C'mon Man"!

Stay the course indeed! Need I bring up the name Khalil Mack? Will the Browns repeat history and screw this up once again? NFL Defensive Defensive Player if the Year.

Mitch Trubisky is Aaron Rodgers so we have to pass up guys like Mack to get him.....

    Hey-oh!

  • This is being posted because I thought a few things, out of anger....

I was so sure Atlanta would win, I made a huge bet with our friend's daughter

in N.C. Ten bucks down the drain.

Had friends over, lots of food, Atlanta had the game

well in hand... but we were amazed that the Falcons kept running out of bounds.

and calling timeouts. It's the third quarter and everybody is saying "don't run out of...too late"

seriously? and fumbled the ball. oh well.

anyways, to the Browns' draft. The second half, the Patriots came out loaded for bear,

throwing players around after the play... etc taking out a few Falcon linesmen's knees...

the patriots went to the pass instantly offense. and their quick wr's get open quick,

brady gets the snap and throws it.... so there ya go. Makes me wonder about a few things.

If the Falcons had had Garrett in their lineup, would he have been able to get to

Brady in the second half before he threw the ball? I don't think so.

So, maybe Garrett isn't the guy for the Browns. I know a quicker pass rush helps the secondary,

but as great as the Atlanta pass rush was, the Patriots are just excellent at the quick throws.

No player could have gotten to Brady in time.

So...... maybe the Browns need their seconary fixed first. Maybe Foster is more the

fix than Garrett. After watching that second half turnaround, Maybe... if the Browns

are not going Trubisky.. they definately trade down, to where they can still get Foster.

Or Lattimore, even though it's a deep cb draft. or Jamal Adams. Or maybe what the hell do

I know, wish the combine was tomorrow. After the patriots came back and won, she texted

me a picture of a cartoon character happy dancing. dammit.

This staff would not survive long enough to reap any benefits from that pick. Would you put your coaching career on him or would you build a sure fire defense that draws wins and crowds again?

  • Speaking of Browns first round picks, Justin Gilbert was cut by the Stoolers today.

Better yet, if Gilbert isn't picked up on waivers, then stools also get a dead money hit of 2.1m next year... ?

It still stumps me that with all the resources they have at their disposal, the FO could not have found out about Gilbert and JM before the draft. Is this why we fired so many scouts?

No... I remember a DL that lunged as he was falling down... trying to disrupt a pass and hit a leg to which most of CP's weight had been transferred.

Somewhat similar to the shot that took out Brady's knee nearly ten years ago except the player lunged forward after already being on the ground.

Actually, Tour might be right... the same thing happened to Tomlin, he was "falling down"...

trying to help an opposing player from running into him, and lunged up and forward down the sideline

to catch the opposing player if he fell....

    yeah.

I had no problem watching it on YouTube. You had to click on the link to get it to play. 🙂 Tour is never going to convince me, Cal and a bunch of other Steeler haters that wasn't a deliberate target on Palmer's knee. 2016 rules, Von Cheapshotten would have been suspended at least 4 games and a 50k fine.

he drove his shoulder directly into Palmer's knee, at that angle, on purpose.

    It doesn't happen accidently -

You can lead a horse to water...

He blew up the OG driving him back to CP's level.

As he starts to release inside he trips over the Center's left leg and starts to fall... happens all the time.

He lunges as he falls to his target.

    Hits his target.

That the play would be illegal today has no bearing whatsoever as it was not illegal then. Not to mention that there is nothing in the rule about "intent".

I don't think anyone is arguing that. Still, he really had no call to do the lunge, other than an attempt to hit the QB, which was unnecessary because the ball had already been long released before he started to lunge.
