it's the little things too that bother me about this current organization...
-
weeks and weeks ago everyone could see that our fg absolutely blows....even on his makes he doesn't look the part of an average nfl kicker. that one fg he did hit over 50 yards to tie the tenn game he had to freakin change his whole kicking style just to get it there. That's not the standard for nfl kickers. He sucks.
So in a completely fungible position, why was he still on the team? it should be up to the coaching staff to go to the FO and say "look, this guy blows. let's get a replacement in"(which is easy to do by nfl standards). If they didn't do that, the front office(presumably they watch the games??) should just do it themselves....
good organizations that have their crap together would never just continue to ignore or screw up these easy decsions.
Sheesh, this is the *easy* stuff....we cant even get that right.
Completely agree, doesn't make any sense.
Completely agree, doesn't make any sense.
sometimes small decisions can tell you a lot about how well an organization is run. If we picked up a slightly below average kicker would it make a difference in our season trajectory? No not really....but there is no downside to do it and it doesn't make sense not to.
the fact that hue and the front office can't even get this small stuff right....no defense for that. You don't freaking 'develop' replacement level kickers in the nfl...do they not understand this?
it's another side that this organization doesn't know how to measure value in the nfl.
-
So who made the decision to keep Gonzalez and let Parkey go?
This whole organization hides from responsibility for outcomes IMO.

But-but-but- shades of Ricardo Lewis, we drafted the guy. wow, we're the cat's meow on picking talent.
Rosen to Gordon next year, we can only hope.

Watching Arizona pick up a win with a 19 year veteran kicker and an undrafted FA that they brought up from the playing squad (remember Ricky Seals-Jones I said had been misplayed as a WR instead of the TE he really is throughout college) last week who had two TDs last week, one this week and a couple of key receptions. Dawson kicks his career long 58 yd FG to win it for the Cards.
The Browns FO/coaches should be as good as theirs. Oh, and Blane Gabbert comes alive @ QB. Who'd a guessed that?
Oh and R S-J's old coach got fired today at A&M. He shoulda been a TE you idiot.

He was! And he sucked. He should quit the NFL right now. This is the best he'll ever do.

Jury in fraud case hears Jimmy Haslam’s voice on secretly-recorded tape
It’s been more than four years since Pilot Flying J found itself suddenly embroiled in a major fraud case, arising from the failure to provide promised fuel rebates to trucking customers. At an ongoing federal trial in Tennessee, jurors heard for the first time on Tuesday the voice of Browns owner (and Pilot Flying J CEO) Jimmy Haslam, via a secretly-recorded tape.
A video update from Jamie Satterfield of the Knoxville News Sentinel explains the content and the context of Haslam’s comments. In short, his words seem to indicate awareness of the scheme to defraud customers by promising them a certain rebate, and then failing to honor it.
Four former Pilot Flying J executives currently are on trial for fraud. Multiple owners have previously pleaded guilty. Haslam steadfastly has insisted that he knew nothing about any improper activities.
In 2014, the company paid nearly $100 million in fines to avoid prosecution of the business entity, but as of February 2016 Haslam personally remained susceptible to indictment. He has never been charged.
NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart was asked about the situation during a Tuesday media briefing, given the breadth of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. Lockhart said he’s not sufficiently familiar with the case to comment on whether Haslam would potentially face discipline.

With reading up on the thieving that went on, I'm really beginning to wonder in the NFL steps into the mess. If Haslam ends up getting charged, they almost have too..
Wouldn't they?
Yay FBI! Go get him guys

Goddell has set the precedent that he can superseded any local or federal authorities, so yea it seems like the NFL would have to do something or look completely inconsistent.

If Jimmy’s guilty, it’s just more proof he’s been the problem with this franchise. More so than any coach or FO.

They can suspend him, certainly...if he is indicted.
It is one of the reasons, I suspect that he has begun listing his wife as the co-owner...and has begun having his son-in-law having a hand in the team's business.
So....what is more embarassing this now 1-25 (?) mess...or having your owner indicted?
But lets note: he would not be the first:

Considering his micro management style, I have difficulty believing he didn't know about the fraud. But in the end, it doesn't matter. He's responsible for it, regardless whether he knew or not.

Jimmy Haslam.... I just don't like to spell his name. It may invoke a bad juju or something
