A 1-31 team over the last two years - and just plain awful for many years, turning over their roster from overrated players who have been an integral part of that losing..... yea, who could've seen this coming.

  • The last GM valued draft picks very highly. This one doesn’t.

Haslam has gone from one extreme to the other. There’s no plan for this organisation it’s just try something and hope it works.

Yep. So dumb. At least we have some consistency on the staff.

I don’t think anyone cares about the fact that Shelton is gone. It’s simply a bad deal.

Can't win em all, and sometimes you have to cut your loses.

This. You wanna dump someone that’s one thing. But you got a late third round pick for your starting DT for a team that doesn’t need any more picks.

Ya, but you had a guy under contract for another season on a team friendly contract, you got nothing in return and now have another hole to fill on a team with bigger holes to fill.

A starting DT for a team that hasn't been able to stop the run during the entire time he was here...... How will the Browns ever replace him?

I'm guessing with just about anyone.

Next time your selling something that has value let me know, ill be sure to offer ya 10% of the asking price if you like giving stuff away.

If Danny was so bad, why did Billy want him. This reminds me of Sheard.

Guess I'll just trust Dorsey more than those of us internet GMs crying here........

    Time will tell.

To be fair, the Browns were good against the run last season.

Basically the Browns gave Shelton to the Patriots to be able to move up roughly 40 spots in the draft. (If you consider they gave away their 5th rounder this year in the 130s overall for NEs 3rd rounder in 2019 which probably will be in the 90s overall)

I'd be really interested in Dorsey's explanation for this.

Actually the Browns didn't pick up any draft picks, since they sent one to New England with Shelton.

    It's a bit of a head-scratcher to me too....

The Browns were the #7 run defense in the league last year.... with a massively depleted LB corps.

Its the only Shmucking thing they did right last year

I'm guessing Dorsey figured they'd lose Danny after next year, so he might as well get something for him.... If the pick they acquired goes on to be an integral part of the Browns for the next 4-5 years, then everyone will forget about 'giving the former 1st rounder away'.

That run stat is probably doctored by the fact that a quadriplegic and Stevie Wonder could have passed on the Browns. Why bother running?

I feel like this is just one domino that is falling...

This might make more sense after free agency and the draft. (?)

That's a little far-fetched but yes if that unlikely scenario came to pass you would be right bone.

Because the Patriots third round pick is like maybe one or two away from the first pick in the 4th round. Where you find All Pro defensive lineman everyday...

What did the opposing offenses average per rush? That would help tell the story.

I think rush attempts would be a better barometer. If teams are rushing fewer times against the Browns, the numbers will look decent against the run.
