I like Savage as a 5th or 6th round developmental QB, and the 2nd QB drafted.Don't believe the hype about Savage. He's another Weeden, at the end of the day. Big, prototypical pocket passer with below average mobility and accuracy concerns on both deep ball placement and crossing routes who can get flustered under pressure. Only difference is that Savage knows how to read a defense and call audibles, whereas Weeden didn't know what an audible was.

As would I.
But some people are talking about him moving into the second round and that way too high for him. He has physical tools, but there's too many question marks surrounding his game and mental acuity to condone taking him in the early rounds.
I couldn't see a team taking him to be their starter or #2 either, unless Jacksonville goes two QB's early this year.
-
I highly doubt he goes before the 4th. Im pretty sure Ive heard rumors that every QB available is moving up draft boards.

maybe with the later round guys.

For such a bad QB draft, there is a ton of talk about all these guys, even the "lower tier" guys like Savage.
LOL, yeah- that Manziel kid drags the overall talent level way down- just kidding. Is it really a bad qb draft, or are we just over analyzing things? So as a developmental guy how about that Jeff Matthews from Cornell? Liked what I saw of him- Another big "slow" guy- though the definition of what "slow" is for a qb is changing. I'd bet the ranch Peyton Manning can't run a sub 5.0 though.
-
if you could put the attributes of bortles, manziel and bridgewater together in a QB then were talking a #4 guy (hell trade up).
i think some teams are willing to forego the risk and pray for reward because they need a qb TO START DAY ONE. they are that desparate.
i don't believe we're that desperate.
well, we'll find out in a little over 3 weeks.
tick tock.

well, you'd hope so or there are a lot of people full of shit in sports media.
the question is where? is the first QB selected going to be @1. 3, 4, 6, 9????

Jax buys into the hype and takes JF at three

Brady and Manning are but also extremely accurate.
I'm just tired of this obsession you have to be 6'4 with a laser rocket arm to win football games
No one ever said you had to be....but I heard both Bill Polian and Gil Brandt say that your odds are a lot better to succeed if you have the taller stronger build.
Again, just a matter of playing the odds:

It's about winning SuperBowl.
Majority of Superbowls are won by tall pocket passers.

Who's that desperate?
Oakland got Shuab.
Jacksonville resign Henne.
We got Hoyer.
Houston will got JC and they can get a number of good QB pick in the first pick of round 2.
There's also 2 QB that might be in the market when the draft get closer.

And the SuperBowl MVP is the defense. (rare)
Russell didn't win jack dilly. He pulled a Trent Dilfer.

he made the plays when he had to, to extend the drives, but i'll agree the seahawks defense won that game.
but we all already know THAT DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

you do realize that the majority of QB's you just named won the Superbowl while also having a Top 5 defense right ?
Not saying "defense wins championships" is any more valid as "you have to have an elite qb" but come on man ...

Russell Wilson broke Peyton Manning's record for TD's as a rookie and has a been a top 10 rated QB his first 2 years in the league.
He made crucial throws early on and got Seattle to the Super Bowl.
To say he didn't "win Jack diddly" makes me think you live in the backwoods of Alabama and don't watch the NFL.
Russell Wilson will get paid, and get paid big time. He's a top 10 NFL QB
again, like I said, it is a matter of the odds. Who was the last guy under 6' to win a championship? Probably like Bobby Layne.
If the Browns get JFM...I will be all for him. I am neither pro nor con on him right now. I am only looking at the statistics, at the odds.
At 5' 11" the odds are never in your favor.

They're is no "winning" formula to win a Super Bowl but havung an elite QB increases your chances 10 fold, just like having a great defense helps.
And Toxic - Statue QB's are becoming a thing of the past with the speed of defenses and evolution of the NFL.
Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Ryan Tannehill, are prime examples.
Even Young, Staubach, Marino, McNabb, Tarkenton, Zorn, Vick, Cunningham, and Moon had mobility son!
It's time you get on the Manziel bandwagon toxic!!!!
How about a new adage...which really applies: to win a championship you need a great defense and a great QB.
That pretty much is the case through history. The dynasties had both: 40s Bears, Luckman and the Monsters of the Midway.
50s Browns, OG and his super defense.
60 Packers, Bart Starr and numerous HOFers on defense
70s Steelers, Bradshaw and the Steel Curtain
80s 49ers Joe Montana and one of the leagues best defenses led by Ronnie Lott.
90s Cowboys Aikman and that defense.
Even the 2000s Pats had Brady and an outstanding defense.
Maybe Wilson and the Seahawks defense will be the badass bitches of the 2010s?

Aaron Rogers
Packers defense ranked fifth in yards allowed and finished second in least amount of points allowed (240, second best in team history), sacks (47), and interceptions (24) in 2010-11.
Ben Roethlisberger
2005-06 steelers ranked FOURTH in yards allowed and finished THIRD in points allowed
2008-09 steelers ranked FIRST in yards allowed and finished FIRST in points allowed
Eli + Peyton Manning (Exceptions?) - Although the Giants defense was in the top half, maybe top 10
Tom Brady
2001 pats 6th in points allowed
2003 pats 1st in points allowed
2004 pats 3rd in points allowed
Drew Brees
Saints 3rd in interceptions, 5th in fumbles recovered (Turnovers can win too?)
Brett Favre
Packers #1 in points allowed the year he won.
Joe Flacco
I personally believe Joe Flacco's are not terribly hard to come by. He had an elite team around him on both sides of the ball.
I just wanted to point out how ignorant you are. Not discrediting any of those QBs because they were/are all good-great, but usually the teams that win have a top 10 defense (quite a few are top 5). Even in the "modern era" of the NFL.
But forget logic, Johnny Football is all we need, right?
