  • welll.......if this is true(and we dont know it is).....but if......

then, compared to last year, this should be a fairly quiet season with him and Gordon on sabbatical....

Then....in 2016.....it will be like getting two extra picks...(albiet, very risky picks)(but, still, a potentially explosive infusion)

Well, we are going to need more info on this. Maybe we are just getting the Dolphin's attention.

Well, Jordan Cameron resigned with the Browns too. So Don't believe everything you see on Twitter, or even from. supposedly "reliable" sources. I'd hardly call Rizzo & Grossi "reliable".

Was it in another thread Manziel's girlfriend is a class A barfly? If the reason he checked into rehab is because of a drinking problem (likely), he's going to have no choice but to dump her if he wants to stay straight. For a recovering alcoholic, constantly being around booze makes the temptation too great to resist. & I'm sure our Ag69 friend counselor will back me up on that one.

Yep. First thing you learn is to change people, places and things that got you there in the first place. that includes barflies male or female.

Sounds nice, but the major difference is that one of them is taking full responsibility and doing something to face it head-on while the other is still in the denial/blame everybody else stage. I see no reason at this point the JG will ever have an NFL career until he takes JM's Q and checks himself into long term rehab. They don't let you bullshit yourself in those programs. They make you look right square in the mirror and see the truth as you've never been forced to see it before. The best ones take no prisoners and they don't give a shit who you are in real life.

  • Said sources say Manziel wont play this year ....do not know how they would know for sure .....

Are you sure they didn't say Gordon?

Off to Vegas for a much needed drink ?

  • more power to him for going to rehab (if you can call a 28 day program rehab).

BUT if it's true about taking a year off .......where and what is that going to be about? will he be working out and studying the game of football or sitting in a common area with a bunch of caffeine laced smokers watching general hospital and eating bon bons?

good luck coming back in any type of nfl football readiness. who's going to really give him a shot 2 years (because if he isn't working out and learning the playbook yadda yadda yadda, that means add a year of training) after not playing a snap of any type of competitive football?

might as well kiss that career goodbye if that's the case.

  • Lots of Ags seem to think he could retire. I don't believe it but we'll see.

  • Todd Maranovich

  • This has got be the most dysfunctional professional team in all of sports. Farmer owes all of us long suffering, patient as hell fans an apology.

    no he doesnt

  • farmer doesn't owe us shit except the best he can do in scouting talent and with his boss acquiring said talent.

if anyone owes an apology it's manziel himself.

if he doesn't retire and he does decide to take a year off i hope the browns aren't spending a nickel towards the kid.

He didn't leave rehab... media needs to leave this guy alone for once...

You are an asshole... plain and simple...

  • Maybe Manziel called in and was drunk.

Yeah, that was me that repeating what my boss showed me. The rehab just gets you away from the problem immediately. The longer he stays, the longer he stays away from his "friends". When he gets out it will probably be recommended he do 90 meetings in 90 days. Let's talk tough to do. Shit that takes a lot of energy just finding a meeting each day to fit your schedule. In 120 days I was good to go. That was August 1994.

It can be done. I've been clean and sober for almost 21 years by using the tools I've learned and applying them in situations that could get me in trouble.

What I said about Mathieu. He came over to Houston and did John Lucas' (the NBA player and coach) program. Go back to Baton Rouge and get right back into it with that bum Jordan Jefferson. 3 times it took him until Patrick Peterson took him under his wing. I hope Johnny finds somebody on the Browns that could do that.

  • i'm all for helping someone out but how long do you think a pro sports org. is going to deal with a number one pick who hasn't produced diddly squat before they move on and cut bait?

look for them to draft another QB this year or next and for manziel to be cut or traded and let someone else deal with it. it's not like there was some contingency written into his contract that the browns have to guide this kid through life. heck the 'retirement' route might be his best bet seeing as he could go work for daddy and party his ass off as much as he wants.

now on the other hand as other people have pointed out this could all be bullshit OR a great plan to get out of cleveland and play closer to home.

all i know is i hope haslam has learned his lesson and will stay the fuck out of farmer's business this coming draft.

  • But since the report is false. .....

Don't get your bowels in an uproar.

  • It has to take a ton of courage to admit ya need help,

and go into rehab. That can't be a piece of cake.

The media needs to stop it for once, and tasteless jokes

    just aren't right about it.

Now, if he was some rock or movie star who goes into rehab every two years or so...

it would be a joke maybe...

But ridiculing the kid for it is low class. So many people's lives have been damaged in one

way or another, by additictions. I hope he gets his life back, and goes for it. And guys like McCown

    will be a great help.

    Mike (Cal),

You & I differ on some things but not on this.

    GREAT statement!

    Mike

  • i hope no one thinks i was joking about the kid trying to help himself.......that's all well and good. the problem is we don't know what type of facility this is and what all he is allowed to do. maybe one of the counselors on here could tell us if he'd be allowed to meet with coaches/trainers etc. i thought an in-house program was like lock down so...........

as a browns fan i want to know when do THEY start thinking about themselves? they are a biz after all. let's say manziel is in rehab until May or June, do you really think he's going to be in tip top NFL caliber condition? so if you say no, probably not, then these 'rumors' of him taking the year off might not just be rumors but someone thinking down the road about if this guy will contribute to the browns again this year (lol). would you come back and compete to be on the roster if you haven't worked out or picked up the playbook in 6 months? he prob wouldn't be able to beat out shaw. so for a first round pick he'd have played 1.5 games in 2 years (if he wants to take a year off and they allow him to do it). is that a sound return on your investment?

  • I wouldn't believe the year off thing. And the Browns said there first concern is him completing treatment. If he comes back fine, if not fine also. Life is more important than football.

  • Why does he DESERVE privacy?

Johnny self-promoted his whole life. That's what he's about. He wants to be in the media and he wants attention. He's all about Hollywood.

    Can't have it both ways.

Now does he deserve support, maybe another chance, help? Sure. Just as everyone.

But when you beg for attention, you get it when you want it and when you don't.
