I wanted Johnson, Peterson, Thomas in that order.

Manziel will be the first QB taken in the first 2 rounds under 6'. At least he'll make history even if he doesn't pan out.

  • hes 5 11 and 3/4...im sure measuring in the 60,s wasn't what it is today.height helps....but the way he runs a little parallel to the line of scrimmage helps offset the hight.

there is no Andrew luck this year.at least we think.I think he has the highest upside.Clowney will be gone for sure. and how do you take a Sammy Watkins when you dopnt have a QB to throw to him?If I was a gm id take the best QB IMO available...be it bort or bridge....and if it works great and if it doesn't you drafted the best outa what you were looking at.But we cant just pass on all three and suffer another year with no QB.

I don't care what if you don't have a good QB your not going far.

  • we have a QB already and his name is brian hoyer.

  • Bridgewater and Robinson.

Beckham actually has some meat on his bones and I wouldnt fear for his life every time he catches the ball like I do with Benji haha. Evans would be great, but if we dont grab him at 4 he'll be gone before the teens.

but that's why you trade down to where you hope and pray the guy is still there (diehard showed a new mock with him going @10 to detroit) so you'd hope to find a trade partner 2-3 spots below us and get what we can, picks wise for the move. i'm not advocating trading out of the top ten at all.

i was impressed with beckham's speed and his hands, but won't he be there in the later rounds? and there were plenty of others that impresed me as well.

clowney disappointed me with his bench press meaning he hasn't been really doing any strength training knowing the combines were coming up and that shows lack of commitment (which a lot of you were saying all along). and i'm not sold on any of the top 3 QBs so if the OL is gone i'd trade down.

I just read that bench press is a pretty meaningless parameter, unless you're a 98 pound weakling like me that can't even budge 225 off a bench. It's not a measure of functional football strength. Ziggy Ansah benched even less than Clowney- and did OK his first year in the pros.

Obviously Clowney didn't waste a lot of his time in the weight room just so he could show how many reps he could do at the combine. LOL is that guy who set the record for reps still on any NFL roster?

Incidentally, Clowney's 10 yard split compared favorably to just about any of the wrs. Shades of Michael Dean Perry. He doesn't have to be Hercules- like Mercury, he's going to be blowing by guys before they can get a hand on him. If they double team him, it opens it up for someone else.

Yup, and except the last two, most of them played when defensive ends measured 6'2".

    Exactly.

  • why wasn't hoyer starting over weeden?obviously weeden was outperforming hoyer in practice or something.why isn't everyone talking about how fragile he is? hes already missed many games because of a major knee injury. He may be too small and fragile and be always hurt. Kinda like Manziel?

Seriously the guy may be hurt a lot.

Playing styles probably. Hoyer wasn't moving as much as Manziel does. He got hurt because he made a correct decision to run but didn't slide properly.

Hoyer being #3 on the depth chart will remain a mystery though. Although weedens signature is playing good in practice and even did in the preseason. Also, Hoyer was later to arrive. Heck, even weedens senior bowl practices impressed scouts before the actual game.

  • Regardless of what was listed as the depth chart online Hoyer was the number 2 not 3 QB. I think they played Weeden at first because he had a decent pre season and they also wanted to play it out and see what the really did or did not have with Weeden. They probably stuck to that plan to long but realistically the FO looked at last year as an exploratory surgery as opposed to a potential winning season.

  • Regardless of what anyone thinks about the read/option, defenses are remiss if they don't prepare for it. I have no doubt that Pettine knows that. Whether that translates into the QB skills Pettine, Farmer and Kyle want in thier QB remains to be seen. I'm betting it does.

Not sure I understand..................................In the NFL if they know you are running a read option offense they are going to prepare for it. It is also no longer rare and revolutonary so teams in general are figuring out the best ways to combat it defensively.

  • Not sure what the Brownsboard record for pages in one thread is ... But this thing will be pushing 50 before May.

Hot Cheerleaders, isn't it? Followed by Dickheads on Parade?

(but didn't the Trent Richardson trade blow things up here as well?)

As noted by Zombo elsewhere, some of those older guys listed at 6' may have also been 5'11 3/4" like Manziel. And Manziel would have probably been listed at 6'. Only since the combine and precise measurements has the NFL been so specific in listing heights, weights, hand spreads, vertical leaps, etc.

One fluke injury on a bad slide, and he may be hurt a lot? Tom Brady had the same freaking injury, did the Pats say he was injury prone? That's a poor comparison. Hoyer is a read the defense, pass first guy. Manziel takes off at the first sign of trouble, or no trouble, leaving wide open receivers hanging. He's not going to have the luxury of tossing up folly floater jump balls off his back foot to his receivers in the NFL either. Finally Javedon Clowney ran a faster 40 time than Johnny Football ©, and there's a ton of linebackers and cornerbacks in the NFL just as fast or faster- so Football will find out it's a tad harder being elusive in the Big Boy League.

The read option is not the reason Denver got whooped by Seattle.

If you think the read option offense is the reason Seattle kicked Denvers ass you better rewatch that game. That game was straight up won by a balls to the wall defense period end of story.
