14th ? You might see that on last place teams dumping talent but not on contenders.....which it may be safe to say that barring a major meltdown the Guardians......uh, are now contenders with 47 to go, and Manager Tito Francona in charge.

Maybe one of his finest managerial jobs of many. Manager of the Year ?

mjp28

Game 115 - Mon Aug 15 - DET (44-66) vs CLE (61-53) first pitch 3:10 pm. Hutchinson vs Civale.

Here's the crazy stat of the year....

Cleveland and Detroit are two of the charter American League franchises, and have been competing against each other since the A.L. started in 1901.

After yesterday's doubleheader, which was split between the Guardians and Tigers, the all-time series stands at:

1143-1143.

mjp28

Game 117 - Tue Aug 16 - DET (44-74) vs CLE (62-54) first pitch 7:10 pm

G. Hill (5-5?) ERA 4.70. versus Cal Quantrill (9-6?) ERA. 4.49

■~~~~~~> <~~~~~~■ Started like shootout. Game 3 of 4. Should be interesting.

.... DET 4-1 bottom 3. Baseball is so much different than football, that's for sure.

.... DET 4-3 final. And Tito Francona gets thrown out in the 9th but he got his money's worth.

See you Wednesday at. 7:10 pm for the split. Good night everyone.

Dutch Oven

I'm surprised there weren't more ejections tonight, the G's were pretty fired up by the end of the 4-3 loss.

If the Guardians don't win the Central, its how mediocre they've been vs a bad Tigers team this year that could be the reason.

mjp28

Game 118 - Wed Aug 17 - DET (43-73) vs CLE (61-53) first pitch 7:10 pm. I like Quantrill tonight.

Daniel Norris #44 LHP (0-4★) ERA 5.97★ 44 K versus Cal Quantrill #47 RHP ERA 3.67 86 K

■~~~~~~~> >~~~~~~> Important game for CLE to keep in 1st place. Play ball. !

Daniel Norris was a great pitcher once upon a time. Time to get the offense rolling again.

.... 0-0 bottom 1st. And Norris hits Rosario HBP. To the top 2.

.... 0-0 bottom 2. Started hit, HBP, W, Now bases loaded, hmmm. Crap LOB 3.

.... DET 3-1 top 6. Norris 3 HBP in 3. Now 4-1 DET playing to win. CLE 28 games in 27 days, tired.

.... DET 4-2 top 8. CLE two ABs left to split with last place DET. Baseball is a funny game.

.... CLE 8 - 4 top 9. OMG !!! 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th. The crowd went nuts. Whew !

... .... 8-4 FINAL. Remain in 1st place -and- tomorrow is an well deserved OFF day.

♥︎ See you Friday versus Chicago at 7:10 pm. A good evening everyone. A classic 8th inning.

Man, the G's needed that game!

I'll give the Tigers credit - its been an absolutely dreadful season for them - but they've gave the Guardians all they could handle this season. Cleveland wins the season series, 10-9.

1144 - 1144. And I've seen/listened to 116 games, missed 2. Scrappy team. Unbelievable.
