  • Great article on OBR that reminds you of why we like Quinn so much: He's talking all about working harder, getting the timing down, getting that full week of first team reps (finally), and moving forward. He sounds confident but not cocky. He said he'll never say he had a good game if the team lost.

Lewis and BE both said they look forward to Quinn knowing he's the guy this season, with getting more confident and more comfortable.

    It's a good article.

And he is Ohio-Born and played for Notre Dame. How dreamy!

We scored 20-points last week offensively? I counted 6 that mattered in the game.

But let's back up here buddy ... enough of what I said or didn't say after week #1 last year, what did YOU say after similar QB play? Let's start with ourselves.

Your commenting to me in a thread where I blasted the messenger & message and came no where close to bashing our starting QB. I hate these types of threads, and ALWAYS have, which I think you can easily admit.

If you find a story of my mimicking the company line of "DA is working hard, staying late, coming early and gosh darn-it, the nice folks down at the senior citizen hall love him" then you can start comparing apples-to-apples of how I addressed things in 2008 ... because that is ALL I addressed in this thread.

Hilarious. Stan is going to tell us what we can post about now that he is back from his 7 month sabbatical.

You're so full of shit it's ridiculous. Last year you bitched people out constantly for bashing DA, and then would bring up Lewis, the defense, Braylons, etc. in defense of DA. Yes you did. You wanted everybody to bitch about everything else but DA, now you want everybody to bitch about Quinn. Jeebus Cripes da ich tinks you be wishy washy often an regular or sumtin...

I got news for you, that game Quinn had that you act like is the worst QB performance in NFL history is nothing compared to some of the shitfests thrown by DA after numerous starts. Had you posted at all the last seven months you may be a little more enlightened on things rather than playing da ich card of selective memory.

Why are you always trying to tell people what they can post about anyway? Big Bad Stan gonna lay down the law if he don't agree with it...........we get it, you want us all to just foam at the mouth and berate the QB and the team because they lost to the Vikes (who for some reason you don't understand are a damn good team----insert blatant exaggerated claims of Purple People Eater Dynasty here), but I don't understand why you feel the need to tell the board what they can and should talk about.

Shame on any of us gayfag fans out here who don't throw the team and the QB under the bus after one game of a new regime and new starter. Satn will set us straight.

Got news for you, while you were on a 7 month vacation we were busy here talking Browns football, moderating, dissecting the team, keeping the board hopping etc. Some of us are not ready to throw a complete hissy fit and proclaim the season over, Brady Queen a lost cause and overlook some of the good things we saw last week. We actually choose to have a little faith in a team going through major changes and looking like maybe somebody knows what they're doing.

Boy I can't wait to see what this post rates on Satn's fagometer.

Hey if you find an article about him laying around and fattening up on twinkies after getting high, or an article on how he repeatidly gets behind the wheel and drives intoxicated, or even one where his teammates state what an asshole womanizer he is ... let Lums and I know, m-kay?

Those are all the qualities I saw in Ken the snake Stabler.

Did the pretty-boy quarterback at your high school nail your girlfriend way back then? You seem obssessed with this hate for the guy.

He's a first round pick. Ya I know he did a free-fall at the draft but after the fish took Ginn, there wasn't anyone for a dozen picks who needed a QB. And if he sucked so bad, how did he set so many records with weak teams at ND.

Don't you want to see if he'll pan out?

You sound like you'd be happier if he flopped then if he made improvements and helped the team win. I've read your stuff, you know your football; it's just confusing why you hate a guy that has 4 games under his belt. 2 of which were with a broken finger on his throwing hand. You've already decided he sucks. I could care less who's behind the center, I just don't want to see another 1st rounder wasted.

I'm continually amazed at the posters here who continue to repeat the falsehood that Quinn was playing with weak Notre Dame teams.

I just looked up the Notre Dame offensive starters from 2006... (Michigan game, I figure a game against #4 is important enough they'd play their best guys..)

5 drafted into the NFL, 2 signed free agent contracts with NFL teams, 2 projected NFL draftees announced ahead of time they'd pass (1 to baseball, 1 to the ministry) 1 still playing and is on Outland Trophy watchlist and is a draft prospect... That leaves Ashley McConnell as the ONLY Quinn starting teammate on offense that hasn't garnered NFL interest.

Notre Dame's O was loaded that year.

  • Offensive players from ND

    2005 NFL Draft

Jerome Collins TE - RD5 (hasn't played a down in the NFL)

Ryan Grant RB - UDFA (starting RB for GB)

    2006 NFL Draft

Anthony Fasano TE - RD2 (starting TE for MIA)

Maurice Stovall WR - RD3 (3rd/4th WR for TB, 21 career receptions)

Dan Stevenson G - RD6 (not on any teams active roster)

    2007 NFL Draft

    Brady Quinn QB - RD1

Ryan Harris OT - RD3 (on DEN roster - not listed on depth chart)

Dan Santucci G - RD7 (on CIN roster - on IR)

    2008 NFL Draft

John Carlson TE - RD2 (starting TE for SEA)

    John Sullivan C - RD6 (starting C for MIN)

Not exactly a whose who of offensive players from ND that got drafted, let alone making a major offensive impact in the NFL. Note there is only 1 skill position player in that list starting in the NFL.

he ONLY played with 4 current NFL starters on his offense in college?

Oh man what kind of shitty college offense only has 9 NFL players on it?

you want 11 Hall of Famers before you admit his team was stacked?

your data shits on your conclusion.

Where in gods green earth do you get 9 NFL players?

2 of those 9 aren't on rosters today and 1 isn't even on the active roster.

How many skill positions do you see in that list? Not exactly shitting on my conclusion, since my conclusion was "Not exactly a whose who of offensive players from ND that got drafted, let alone making a major offensive impact in the NFL."

He also didn't have each guy for every year at ND. Notice most are OL.

LOL! Now why did you replace the hotties with Sling Blade under your screen name? Speaking of which, if he heard you talkin about Quinn he'd say: "Leave the boy alone!"

  • @inspecta said:

I like how he outlines all those that were "drafted" without mentioning any names whatsoever. Not that he's incorrect in that they were drafted, but the mere fact it's nobody we've ever heard of should tell you that their impact at the next level has been nill....

It is factual. I gave the name of the only guy on Quinn's offense that didn't get a sniff from the NFL.

Here's the deal. Start naming college offensive units that can say 10 or more of their 11 starters were drafted, signed free agent contracts, or turned down the NFL draft...

Man are you going to have to do some research. Heck, has any D-1 team ever had ALL of their starting unit get serious NFL sniffs? It doesn't matter whether or not they became superstars or impact players in the NFL, even the honey of the team, Brady Quinn, hasn't done that. The fact of the matter is, once you get beyond the first few draft picks, there's a heck of a lot of parity in the draft and there's little separating the remaining players that are drafted... their success often depends more on situations with a team's needs more than their position in the draft.

... most college teams are lucky to get a few players get a sniff from an NFL team in any one year.
