Pickett to Cleveland, Eagles get DTR and a fifth rounder. For the love of god tell us he's the backup not the starter.

The guy with small hands. Ugh.

DTR gets a fresh start, thanks for beating Pitt in 2023.

Comparing the two, this is a significant upgrade.

DTR is a great kid, but he might be the worst passing QB I've ever seen.

I'm sure Steelers fans are having a good giggle over this though.

He does bring a SB ring with him...?

For sure the Steelers fans are rejoicing right now. Pickett has to be penciled in for our backup QB spot since Jameis is almost for surely not coming back.

Darnold to Seattle, Fields to the Jets today. Who does that leave for our starter - Cousins, Rodgers, Flacco, Russ, or draft Ward/Sanders.

He may not be the starter, but he is worth a 5th.

My friend, who is a squeelers fan, was so happy when they drafted him. I kept telling him, that Pickett was Colt McCoy. It took him 2 years to agree with me

Bwahhaaa...when you think they can't fuck us up any worse...let's pick up steeler scraps.

    Hold my beer!!

That was a pretty good comparison.

But at worst, he's a definite upgrade over DTR.

I believe I hears that when he took over for Hurts he had broken ribs and was taking the needle

maybe the Browns' offense will suit Pickett's strengths.

He has thrown for thrown 15 touchdowns in his career.

    Hasn't played much.

He has played enough to throw 14 interceptions in his career though.

Smart move, now the Browns can cut watson or trade him after giving some other team a fourth round pick to take him.

and he was the backup to Mitch Trubisky, who was the backup to Mason Rudolph so there's that.

I have no freaking idea. But I think Cam Ward is a good bit like Winston...so...

whatever. we'll see. I like Warren and Josh Simmons a little further down in the first round. Tennessee will take Sanders or Abdul Carter. Maybe the assault charge with the tow truck driver is the only trouble Carter will ever get into in his life.

Maybe Will Howard will surprise people in the NFL.

Yep definitely an improvement in the QB room. Yet again, that’s like saying that Moe was the smartest of the 3 Stooges.

huh boy.  Well, we've now got one QB in our QB room.

I would imagine that in the grand scheme of things, this has to be the year the FO and coaching staff has to show that they can make magic happen at the QB position. We’ve seen a little bit of it before. Baker had his moments and Flaccomania was fun.

But now the collective ownership and fan base is glaring at these guys to PLEASE GOD GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME.

I would imagine there will be a shotgun approach. Trade here, draft a guy or 2, sign a FA, whatever. There’s going to be like 6 QBs in camp at some point.

It’s always fun to wring your hands over this shit, but with the right attitude, it’ll be a fun ride.

And that is how it starts.  It's clear we want to flip the QB room.

My feeling is we will still seek an older vet as the starter and will still draft a QB.  I am beginning to think it will be someone after the 2nd pick.  Maybe a trade up into the 1st round.  The top pick of the 2nd round plus one of our extra 3rd rounders could get that done.

As for the reactions in the room, I get it if people think we expect Kenny to be our starter.  He is bottom tier of the bottom tier as a starter.  As a back-up he has as much as any back-up.  He is a solid addition in that department.  He is way better than Dorian.  In Stefanskis controlled O, we might even be surprised at how good he can look.  He can step in and salvage a few games for you, and that is all you can really ask out of the backup QB.

We probably felt making this move in trade was the best route to get Pickett.  Dorian wasn't going to be on the team in any way this season, so we traded a 5th rounder that belonged to the Lions...so a late 5th rounder.  A pretty cheap price for a solid back-up/low end starter.

Now get the vet starter to man the helm for a year or so until our drafted rookie is ready to get his shot at starting.  I think the target is Dart.

Let's be honest, what FA QB was out there thinking "I want me some Cleveland Browns passing game."

When Pickett played for the REAL team in PA - this is what he was doing while Pittsburgh fans remained less than thrilled watching Russell Wilson lose his last 5 starts there.

Perhaps if he gets to violently sack him in practice.  🙂
