Old Hakeem never once mentioned how many children are going to be saved from abortion during his childish blubber fest.

this like every bundle bill has crap in it.  There’s a lot of good in this one though…(and some terrible yes)

guns don't kill kids-pitt bulls do.

          This is huge:

          https://www.axios.com/2025/07/03/big-beautiful-bill-social-security

          "

How it works: Both the House and Senate bills include an increased tax deduction for tax filers age 64 and older. In the Senate version, the new deduction is $6,000 for individuals and $12,000 for couples.

          • The deduction starts phasing out for those who earn over $75,000 ($150,000 for couples), and phases out completely at $175,000 for individuals and $250,000 for couples, in the Senate version.
          • The break expires in 2028 when President Trump leaves office, as do a few other White House priorities in the bills, including no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on auto loan interest.

What they're saying: "This amounts to the largest tax break in American history for our nation's seniors," per a report out earlier this week from the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Yes, but: Most seniors — 64% of them — don't pay taxes on Social Security, according to the White House's own analysis.

          • Those who can't afford the taxes already don't pay. This break targets most, but not all, of the rest.

Between the lines: Trump promised to eliminate taxes on Social Security income. Lawmakers couldn't pull that off entirely, given the constraints of passing a reconciliation bill and changing Social Security law.

          • This break comes close. After adding the recipients of the new tax break, 88% of seniors wouldn't pay Social Security tax, per the White House.
          • "The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers on President Trump's promise of no tax on Social Security," White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson says in a statement, noting the analysis by the Council of Economic Advisers.

Zoom out: For those upper-middle class folks who pay taxes on retirement benefits, this is a "substantial tax break," says Marc Goldwein, senior policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan group that advocates for fiscal responsibility.

          • For the several million senior citizens who live in poverty, and already don't pay taxes on Social Security, this doesn't help.
          • The bill would also accelerate Social Security and Medicare insolvency by a year, to 2032, per an analysis from the group.

The bottom line: Seniors in the U.S. overall are doing great financially right now, sitting on assets that have soared in value in recent years.

          • "As a whole seniors in this country are the wealthiest cohort in the history of the known universe," Goldwein says.
          • If this bill passes, they'll get to keep a little bit more."

Yep, per the WH. I'm still not certain about this one - It is limited to 2029. But I wonder about the lbj "great society" affect. How many of the poor will start having babies like crazy to get a thousand bucks for each one? But, it isn't a cash cow, it's an investment in stock, whatever.

                        https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/06/myth-vs-fact-the-one-big-beautiful-bill/

"MYTH: “Illegal aliens don’t get federal benefits.”
FACT: Illegals burden taxpayers with billions in costs for free health care and welfare benefits. The One Big Beautiful Bill ends Medicaid and SNAP fraud and ensures these programs serve only eligible Americans."

                        *******************************

"MYTH: “SNAP is being gutted and cutting food stamps for families, causing them to go hungry.”
FACT: The One Big Beautiful Bill protects and strengthens SNAP. Right now, almost three-quarters of able-bodied adults without dependents on SNAP have no earned income and the fraud rate is high. The mission of the program has failed: SNAP was intended to be temporary help for those who encounter tough times. Now, it’s become so bloated that it is leaving fewer resources for those who truly need help. We are committed to preserving SNAP for the truly needy."

Boomers have spent most of their existence hoarding wealth and damaging the world around them at the expense of future generations. It makes sense they wouldn't stop now.

In a decade or so when the rest of us are digging out from the consequences of this bill the old folks that passed it will be long gone. Most of the posters here cheering this on will be dead by the time we're truly dealing with the fallout.

The lefties live 100% emotionally - they latch on to false hateful and negative narratives as a way of existing. I guess hate and lies makes them feel like they aren't losers.

Boomers have spent most of their existence hoarding wealth and damaging the world around them at the expense of future generations. It makes sense they wouldn't stop now.

It's gonna be wild when millennials make up the biggest voting bloc. I fully expect us to be worse than the boomers when it comes to "fuck you, got mine," seeing as we're sick of being on the shit end of that stick.

So you think, when we're in charge and the geriatrics are out of office, we'll just continue the cycle? That definitely could be the case. I hope instead of replicating the harm we've experienced we take it as a lesson for how not to do it again.
