Popovich removing Tim Duncan in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals against Miami with a 5 point lead and 29 seconds to go AND choosing not to foul and allowing Lebron to get off a 3 point shot which was rebounded (because no bigs were on the floor) and passed back to James who nailed a three to cut the lead to 2. Ray Allen later tied the game which went into overtime and the Spurs lost the game and game 7 and the series. Total failure of coaching that gave away a championship.

The Dumbest Calls in sports history -
Browns Sign Miles AustinThis might explain Miles hamstring problems with the Cowboys. If this is true, Miles might be be able to last the season for the Browns. Make sure you click open and read the readers comments. There are high school coaches with more knowledge than Jason Garrett.

LOL cowboysWe JFF fans are glad that the Cowboys passed on him. The last thing we wanted for Johnny was to go to a badly managed and coached team where he had zero chance of success. Romo has had to literally run for his life with some of the worst offensive lines in the league, has had 3 different head coached and 5 different OC's, a horrible drafting owner, and a horrible GM. The current HC is totally incompetent. We were hoping that the Saints might draft Johnny so he could play under Payton and Brees. Cleveland is much better than Dallas got JFF.

New Browns Fans Introduce YourselvesSan Antonio fan here, along with a few others. We have a good friend that lives in San Antonio who is a native of Cleveland and a longtime hardcore Cleveland sports fan.For years he has told us all the heartbreak stories of Cleveland sports fans, bad trades, bad breaks, bad owners, bad GM's, etc. So over the years we would get together and watch Brown's games on The Ticket. I was with him when Lebron hit that amazing shot in the playoffs when he was with the Cav's. For two years I told him he needed to Johnny play. He would hear us talk about him all the time. The first full game of Johnny's he watched was the Alabama game in 2012.
So, when Cleveland drafted Johnny, it all came together for all of us. There is a local Browns Fan club that meets at a local sports bar that we all plan to check out.

Browns Sign Miles AustinThe Cowboys lead the leg in hamstring pulls the last two years. Many thought it was the conditioning techniques of the S & C coach. It will be interesting to see if Miles still has hammy problems in Cleveland.

Jonathan Paul ManzielThe biggest negative on Johnny going to Cleveland imo is he tends to not do as well in bad weather as the LSU and Missouri games this year were also cold and rainy. That said, he also set what was at the time the SEC Total Offense record (which he later broke) in the rain against Arkansas as a Freshman. He will need to adjust some and the groundskeepers in Cleveland need to do all they can to keep the field in top shape.
Credit LSU for their defensive schemes against Johnny which Missouri copied. In Johnny's freshman year against LSU the Aggies were moving the ball and in the game but an interception off Evans hands and a fumble by Molena caused Johnny to start trying to force things. In Johnny's second season LSU used the same scheme which worked and copied by Missouri.
I think some blame needs to be placed on the offensive coaches for not anticiapating the schemes and making adjustments. Kliff Kingsbury was the OC in Johnny's freshman year and that LSU game was early and I think Kliff was reluctant to put in too much offense and maybe too inexperienced himself to make halftime adjustments. In the Florida loss, Florida rolled their corners up in the second half and Kingsbury refused to throw deep.
When Kingsbury left for Texas Tech, RB coach Clarence McKinney was promoted to OC and Jake Spavital hired from WVA as the QB coach. McKinney was not effective as an OC and replaced by Sumlin for the bowl game. All last year I think Johnny's development was impaired by the coaching of McKinney and the inexperience of Spavital, as well as a non-existent defense. McKinney did not call one zone read play last year for Johnny. Nor a pitch play.
So when the experts watch two games and make evaluations on Johnny they never mention the coaching.

Jonathan Paul ManzielSome items of interest:
Who came up with the nickname Johnny Football? No one is quite sure, not even Johnny. Johnny thought it originated on TexAgs message Board. Others said the stadium announcer at Kerrville Tivy HS. I think it was a TV sportcaster in San Antonio named Joe Reinagle.
Who is JFF: JFF is the internet nickname given to Johnny at the TexAgs board.
What does JFF mean? Johnny Fucking Football !!!

Jonathan Paul ManzielJohnny was born in Tyler, TX and spent much of his early life there. His great grandfather struck it rich in oil and his family has money. They moved to Kerrville, TX when Johnny was a young boy, Kerrville is 45 miles NW of San Antonio,

Biggest Steal of the 1st Round (Not Counting JF)I'm not so sure there was a steal. Everybody went where they were slotted except a couple of players lead by Blake Bortles to JAX.

Jonathan Paul ManzielThat is the big issue... staying healthy. To do so he has to reign in some of that fierce competitiveness, which ran him into some troubling dings his Sophomore season. Which raises the issue of how much can he reign in that which is at his core? (or Corps, if you're an Ag like my daughter.)
Two more points...
- Dayton has a lot of Bengal fans so be sure the jersey is the right color.
- Hopefully JM will never see the field on opening day.
Welcome to the board...
He has a trick knee he injured in HS which flares ocassionally. Last year his knee got injured but he came back in the game. Also last year he injured his thumb on his passing hand by hitting the helmet on his follow through. And his shoulder was injured when he was tackled from behind by a huge Auburn DL who then landed on top of him. Johnny came back in the game but had trouble passing. The hand and shoulder bothered him through the end of the season. He was finally healthy for the Capital One Bowl and played lights out.
Johnny took a few hard hits after releasing the ball after passing but always got back up. But I never saw him take a hard hit running in space. It's the hits he will take in or near the pocket that worry me. He does have a horrible tendancy to try to take on a DB and deliver a hit. He will need to stop that.

Jonathan Paul ManzielI wanted him to go to a team with a good innovative coach in a good football city. Number 1 on my list were the Saints and Sean Payton. Chip Kelly at Philly would have been good for Johnny. Kyle Shanahan I think will be very good for Johnny and Cleveland is a great football town. I'm thrilled he didn't go to Jacksonville, Houston would not have worked with their new coach O'Brien. Dallas would have ruined him like they ruined Romo. I'm excited.

Jonathan Paul ManzielHi Guys,
New member here from San Antonio and brand new Cleveland Browns Fan. I got a tear in my eye when the TV showed those Brown fans chanting for Johnny before the pick and then the utter joy and excitement of the fans when the pick was announced.
I saw Johnny play in HS several times and watched him shread some very good 5A Texas HS football teams. Critics said he would never do that in college, and he went on to do the same thing against SEC defenses. I've never seen a player with such natural football instincts and that kind of physical talent.
He is a fierce competitor, a leader and a never say die mentality. He is 1000% business in the locker room, on the practice field and on the playing field. I think that he will thrive under a bright, innovative, open minded OC in Shanahan. He has some weakness that need to be addressed but what young players don't? He has matured a lot since some of his foolish actions in his Freshman year.
So much has been written and said about him and a lot of it false or misleading. Like not going through his progressions, running too soon, or what JFF stands for.. Nothing said about the new OC and QB coach he had last year which slowed down his development.
You guys got a great young talent. If he stays healthy, he will light it up. So, please feel free to ask any questions about Johnny from someone that has watched every college game and saw him in HS.
My broker from Dayton is sending me a Manziel Browns jersey and me and a buddy are going to join the local Browns fan club. Can't wait for the opening kickoff!!!
