Very interesting now that Turner's hiring is official... Anyone remember the 2008 AFC Pro Bowl coach commenting on how well DA already understood the offense and how much potential he had? I think he even had DA helping the other QBs with the offense the week leading into the game. That was Turner.

Sooo.... Derek Anderson? -
BAHAHA Derek Anderception does it again....He did go 16-18 as a starter for us. I guess we should be worshipping the ground he walks on.
Heck, his 3 and 4 record last year is the 4th best of any Browns Qb in 15 years. The Browns have more problems than QB. Lots of wasted energy complaining about DA, ought to focus on current events.

BAHAHA Derek Anderception does it again....Well, he was put in after the Cards spotted TB a 14 point lead. Bad pass on his part, but got 'em within striking distance.
Probably shouldn't make too much fun of him 'til the Browns win 42 percent of their games... like DA did last year in his starts for the team.

Jeff Garcia, Culpepper in UFLIt'll be curious to watch and see if any UFL players ever get "called up" to the NFL. Seems to me NFL teams would be happy to develop a relationship with some "minor league" to give borderline or practice squad level players a chance to develop or maintain skills on the chance they need players at any point in the season.

Jake Delhomme doing wellI think they really need to go with Seneca for another game, maybe bring in Jake as a backup if needed and he's not limping.

ANDERSON gets the last laugh? And I forgot to add DA's 3 TD and 10 INT. Even crappy Quinn posted better numbers with the same crappy team.
In essence, Quinn didn't have the same crappy team to play with as DA. Quinn started the season with the receivers he practiced with all preseason playing the positions they had all preseason. DA came in and after 1 game the team blew up the lineup and positioning. New receivers at every position, on 2-3 days of practice. I believe there were changes on the Oline made at the same time, could be wrong on that though. DA was left to work out the kinks with the new lineup, then Quinn comes back in after they've been together for 4 games and a bye week. DA did play with pretty much the same team as Quinn those last two games, but then again, they were wins and his INT numbers were more under control.

ANDERSON gets the last laugh?Since Anderson is no longer our Quarterback, maybe we could discuss something pertaining to the Browns?
This thread could last all season and well into summer if the Browns don't win 7/8 games. Hopefully the team will get a winning stretch going and put this thread to bed.

ANDERSON gets the last laugh?I'm sure Couch could have that year. We had a solid line, a RB who rushed for over 1000 yards and Winslow is a Pro Bowl tight end period, and Joe Thomas is a Pro Bowler. Edwards even caught Anderson's inaccurate passes that year. Couch never had those kind of weapons. We also had a crappy schedule against defensively challenged teams. Yet we managed to lose to those crappy teams and miss the playoff due to Anderson throwing the ball to the other team repeatedly. And the common denominator between teams that suck is poor QB play. I don't think Randy Moss made any QB on the Raiders look good. Poor QB play is the reason the Browns suck not poor WR.
Since you responded to a comment about the 2008 season... Do you even remember the 2008 season? Anderson started it with a concussion and not having practiced for 3 weeks, his first practice was Tuesday before the 1st game and it had to be inside because he was having troubles with sunlight from the concussion, Edwards hadn't practiced in nearly a month, KW2 was inneffective and rumored to be playing injured, Stallworth was out for several weeks. Steptoe was a starter. Heiden was playing with a cast on his hand. The Browns primary receivers... KW, BE and Stallworth... were on the field during the same game ONCE in the first 8 games. Add to that there were injuries and shuffling of the O line the first half of the season. When they yanked DA the Browns had won 3 of the last 5 and were'nt playing all that poorly on the offensive side of the ball, and they'd played Pitt, NYG, BAl X2 and WAS... if I recall correctly, that's 5 of the toughest games of the season right there, several had good defenses.
Couch might have had problems.

ANDERSON gets the last laugh? In fact Tim Couch is one of the biggest busts ever yet his career passer rating is still higher than Andersucks. Andersuck is a franchise wrecker. People fall in love with his rocket arm and are fooled into thinking he is good. He's a joke.
Anderson's a franchise wrecker? He came in and took a 4 win team to 10 wins. Next season, despite numerous injuries/tough schedule/rotating lineup, he came in and was 3-5, winning three of last five then was replaced by the fan fave Quinn... that's when the team tumbled. Blame it on ownership, maybe even fans, but Anderson gave the Browns the best run they've had in years.
-
ANDERSON gets the last laugh?Hoe many games has Andersuck won in the last 2 years?
1 for 1 with Az. Won 6 of the 8 Cleveland wins the last two years, despite starting less than half the games.
-
ANDERSON gets the last laugh?Seriously guys. Anderson is terrible. He has been cut twice from teams with crappy QB's. Then people get pumped up when he barely beats the stinking Rams. These are probably the same people who thought he was a HOF after whipping the Rams and the 1-16 Miami Dolphins in 2007. Anderson will never be a good QB. He has never been accurate and never will be. He couldn't complete even 50% of his passes last year. Anderson has always been known for a good game here and there (remember the Giants?). But ultimately he will show his true colors and be garbage like he has always been.
It's not like Jake was overwhelming in the beating of powerhouse Tampa Bay yesterday. Let's face it, the Browns problems the last few years go beyond QB. A change of faces was needed for both parties. Hopefully at season's end both the Browns and Anderson will come out ahead of the games by the offseason moves made this year.

ANDERSON gets the last laugh?DA targeted larry fitzgerald 15 times
15 TIMES.......he ended the day with only 3 catches......DA has bright spots just like any other QB......laying the occassional deep bomb right into the receivers arms
but can you blame larry fitzgerald for the 12 incompletions on the 15 targets?.......if you've watched the cardinals you can agree that the kid catches everything within a mile of his arms reach
FWIW this is my first week on these boards so you cant comment on my past opinions or thoughts on DA.....i give credit where credit is due.
DA was 19 of 26 with everyone else on the roster. DA's been the "starter" for all of 10 days or so, Fitzgerald was out for a month, and he's apparently not moving all that well yet. They've never played together. There are timing issues. If he and Fitzgerald start connecting 75% of the time (I don't really believe it'll get that high) he'll be leading a very potent offense.

Leinart to be releasedDA will become mr. anderception as soon as the leagues DCs get some footage and map it...DA is blind to disguised defenses ,has a stare down problem and likes to throw in heavy traffic if the heat is on..
Seems to me they've had tape on DA for 3 years. According to you he shouldn't have any good games.

QB Controversy in Arizona ...Shep's wheaties have gotta be getting pretty soggy from tears by now. Maybe DA and Aaron will meet in the playoffs?
-
QB Controversy in Arizona ...It is probable that DA has won the starting job in AZ, and that Leinert will be traded....possibly to the Bills, Raiders, or Giants. That what was said on the radio this morning by Schefter.
I'd say the odds of a trade are lower than just being cut outright. If one of these teams wants Leinart, they're gonna have to pony up something to the Cardinals, then fight Leinart over that 10-12 mil he's due next year. Let him get cut, then his agent will come begging to those three teams or any others that may be interested. I see a huge paycut ahead.
-
Anderson starting over Leinart -
offensive lineI really like what Mangini's done with the offensive line the last year. It's key to any success the Browns might have. Hopefully it'll get nothing but better as time passes.

Anderception on Browns tenure: 'Every day was frustrating'mikeyP72 said:
DA went 2 for 17 in a game for 17 yards. He had the worst QB rating possible, the back-up QB that doesnt even dress had a higher rating because he didnt throw a pass.
You may want whats best for the Browns, allegedly, but DAs cock is in your mouth and its hard to understand you. Think its time for another reach around on D & S.... you old stubborn bastid.
The ball hit the receiver's hands on 13 of those 17 passes. They were credited with 9-11 drops, depending on who you talk to. 9 is believable, the other two were tough catches.
I think mikey's got some pent up issues.
-
Anderception on Browns tenure: 'Every day was frustrating'He was a fricken rookie 6th rounder the team had few expectations of when they drafted few-wins Quinn. It was Anderson, not Quinn, that sent Frye packing his bags the next fall.
As poorly as he met fan's expectations, he won nearly half his games while every other QB of his era with the Browns did squatoosie.
Hopefully the Browns can find a QB that can top his output and win/loss record.

Massaquoi must step up!Receiver was a huge problem last year. As much as I was happy to see Edwards go, it sure made it rough for Mass having to become the #1 his rookie year. He'll be better, but I bet he'll still struggle at times, especially if the offense is changing as much as we suspect. I look at receiver to be a 2-3 year work in progress.
I agree that bringing in an established vet would be a good idea, if it doesn't happen they're be days that people here are shaking their heads at the receiver play.
