The Browns Board Lives: New Owner, New System, Same Data -
The Official Browns vs Panthers Game 3 Threadafter shedeur left after one play they did pan to the endzone where a bunch of brain dead so called fans started to boo, I swear #4 had his ups and downs and the 3rd quarter was a bit rough to watch but #4 shined when it mattered most , in the 4th with a game winning drive
side note baker is out 2-4 weeks LOL
It's amazing how much the Mike Evans dynamic has meant to Johnny Manziel, Baker Mayfield and now Brock Purdy. There's no denying that opposing defenses accounting for Mike Evans has created easier matchups for his WR teammates. This dates back to Ryan Swope catching 72 passes fo 913 yards and 8 TDs at Texas A&M in 2012 while Redshirt Freshman Mike Evans added 82 receptions for 1105 yards and 5 TDs. Significance? Johnny Manziel easily wins the Heisman in 2012.
As much as I liked Baker Mayfield's rookie and 3rd season - most of his best NFL seasons were in Tampa from 2023-2025 per cut and paste:

Here's what Mike Evans did during those years:

This year, Brock Purdy is lighting it up while @dutch-oven was kind enough to share a quick pov about lost hocus pocus from Baker in 2026 during a brief break from testosterone stories with the fellers from PA. It goes without saying he's already taught them how to drink like men...

The Official Browns vs Panthers Game 3 ThreadEvery game his name is burned into our memory as the guy attached to the official's favorite #.
That's where we put him when we drafted him. We eventually had to move him to LT to replace the #71 that flopped over there.
This year, that jersey needs a decimal point to at least challenge the official. If I had to guess, Warhop probably changed Howard's name to "Flags" by halftime. Warhop better get a great big fanny taser ready for Flags in practices preparing for Watt's his name on Thursday Night.

The Official Browns vs Panthers Game 3 ThreadAlcohol poisoning is always a possibility with this crew. ?

The Official Browns vs Panthers Game 3 ThreadWell, hopefully you're not coming out my way. We'll be having another Nor Easter this weekend.
Go Browns!
Hope you and your family stay safe this weekend! Do you have a safe place you all can get away to or are you equipped stay put?
In Florida, storms taught us that living real close to the Gulf wasn't the great idea we originally thought it would be. We finally moved inland about a year ago.

What could possibly go wrong?

Current status of the Rams 2027 first round pick - kinda' sorta'For the millionth time, the Browns had Nick Chubb on the roster.
Your love affair for Henry is duly noted, again.
? Is Aggies doing that again?
With all of the things we've had to complain about with the Browns over the years - Nick Chubb wasn't one of them. Chubb was a steal at #35 overall (as the 2nd of two 2nd round picks in 2018). As for Henry, who did not start as a rookie in 2016; and didn't have his 1st season rushing over 1000 yards until 2018 - was the 45th pick overall by TN. There's NO DOUBT Henry became a terrific RB that had a lot of fans/teams thinking in hindsight "why didn't we take him?" Because Chubb was immediately awesome rushing for 996 yards @ 5.2 yards per carry and 8 TDs as a rookie - there was no reason to prefer a RB that was only one third of a RB committee in Nashville until his 3rd NFL season at that point in time.
Chubb's Career Totals in Cleveland: 7 seasons, 89 games played, 1340 carries, 6843 yards rushing, 5.1 yards per carry, 51 TDs rushing.
From Jim Brown & Bobby Mitchell to Leroy Kelly to Greg Pruitt to Mike Pruitt to Earnest Byner to Kevin Mack to Leroy Hoard. New millenium RBs: Peyton Hillis, Jamal Lewis, Nick Chubb and Quinshon Judkins. Since 1969 I've always enjoyed the Browns' running games and I know my dad did long before that.
I liked Eric Metcalf more in open fields than up the middle so he was a thrill to watch returning punts and kickoffs (the next few teams that had him used him more efficiently as a Receiver in the slot/outside. His 2 Punt Returns for TDs vs Pittsburgh in 1 game as a Brown were beautiful - as was the the kickoff return for a TD vrs Buffalo in the playoff game I attended...

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadThank God almighty, you've been saved!!?
He also saved Watson just in time before his 1st start at home.

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadWith some time, the fans will realize we have a genius GM, and they will also realize why they are fans, and not working in the front office.
This team is loaded with talent, and is also the second youngest team in NFL next to Miami. (25.5 years avg vs 25)
There is no way a first rounder will be wasted on a QB in next years draft. We are lucky to have Sanders as a back up QB.
Itβs time to stop obsessing over QBs in next years draft. Those days are over.

? Fantasy is so fun it's almost as if Jimmy Haslam doesn't even exist.
Yes, we are lucky no other NFL teams (including the Browns) wanted Shedeur before the Browns made a trade to draft him in round 5. It's especially impressive when we factor in it was only 2 rounds after they aleady drafted Dillon Gabriel. On the other hand, we got a great goup of players in that draft as well as the one this year.

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadWell, I'm shocked, I say. Watson looked like a semi competent starting NFL QB. And the defense played very well. Watson bought himself another start, but he will never be loved in Browns fandom. Play like crap this coming Sunday expect a chorus of boos.
It's Cleveland so all I care about at this point is if Watson can give us more watchable football. We're not spoiled here; so if he can't - they'll still be auditioning the other QBs they brought here. Last I knew, Watson narrowed his search of finalists down to NOT including Cleveland. Jimmy didn't take no for an answer so here we are...
Just this weekend, I'm reading Jimmy only has eyes for Arch Manning in the next draft. Hoping like crazy here the criteria exceeds Jimmy has a nice on-going close friendship with Peyton Manning & that entire family... Peyton looks like the ONLY QB Jimmy ever got right; and yet UT still went 0 for Florida - and didn't win the National Championship until the year after Peyton left (with Tee Martin playing QB). Not that winning the Natty assures NFL success for a QB; but it sure did sweeten the attaction of Kosar up and over just the local hometown hero thing. I adored him and Sipe...

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadWatson played well today.. He had one great game against the Rats in the past.. But consistency will be key going forward.. Next week we play the Panthers here at home and they just absolutely drubbed the Falcons who are 0-2.. 34-3. Let's see if Mr. Rub n Tugs can do it twice... Because I think next weeks defense (Carolina) will be a little tougher and more disciplined..
Carolina gave up 59 points (per souce below) in their opener so I hope we see that version instead of the one that graciously accepted all Stefanski's gifts yesterday.

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadI'm happy that we beat Tampa Bay. I'm happy that Baker didn't throw for 400 yards & 4TD's. This way we don't have to put up with the Baker Bro Talking Heads, or The Baker Bro Browns Fans, or the Watson Hater Browns Fans / Talking Heads. We don't have to listen to any of that bull-shit. We can instead enjoy a win and look towards the home opener with just the slightest bit of hope.
I'd like to see our OL improve / gel / whatever, so that Judkins can have a nice game and get some love. I swear that he's a good RB that just does not get the kind of OLine help that other RB's are getting.
Extremely well said!

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadHickman & Delpit each had a sack. There's no Myles Garrett, so you've got to try and create sacks. Graham had a crap luck sack.

Here he is, going in the wrong direction....but he gets the sack

This was a delightful win.
We can't run. There's no holes. But the D played better. Which kept us in the game. And our QB position played better...actually bringing the offense down the field for the go ahead TD late in the 4th quarter. Go figure.
It was good to see improvement over last week. Some will say, Well THAT was a low bar! Which it was, but we had absolutely NO reason to think we'd do any better. So, it really is quite a nice step forward. Now, we need the OL to play better. Perhaps DeWand Jones at RT might help??
I'll slightly disagee with "we can't run" - only because there were a few good runs by Judkins mixed into the frustrating inconsistency otherwise. I like your idea of considering Dawand Jones at RT if struggles continue off-tackle/outside (never thought I'd say this til he showed up in shape this year). Having said that, my memory of how he did in the pre-season eludes me. ANOTHER thought is giving the better athlete (Barber) the RT job and remembering Tytus Howard started games at OG and OT for Houston so that could be a more suitable niche for the former 1st round pick as depicted in cut and paste.

Week 2 Delusions...Just curious, but how many fantasy points did Baker have today compared to Watson?
Damn... Baker is 0-6 vs the AFC North in his post-Browns career and has lost both attempts vs the Browns.
Maybe four years from now he can try for the third time to beat the Browns and you can celebrate cal! ?
The tears of immeasurable sadness flowing from your eyes today must sting so... motherfucking... bad, cal.
Somewhere Stan is looking down on the board he created with an enormous smile this evening...

The Official Browns at Buccaneers Game 2 ThreadThe Browns play their second game in Florida to start the season.
I expect the Browns to get boat-raced again.
They'll win the coin toss and survive the opening kickoff; before they get absolutely Cheesecaked.
What's the over/under on how many underwear changes Cal needs watching Baker tomorrow?

Watch out for Posers!!!Mitch is in training

Looks like McConnell just found out he's Irish again...

Watch out for Posers!!!We need a lake jump promise from our current coach if that happens!!
with or without cement shoes?
? God Bless ya Marvin!
I agree... I was just throwing it out there...
It was worth it Nicks!

Watch out for Posers!!!I'm not finding much humor in this, sorry.
A league of parity and we're being asked to be patient yet again.
Best thing Haslam could have done is REDUCE ticket prices for this season..
I'm so sick of sucking, sick of talking about draft picks who can save us.
Win some games damnit, starting this week.
Some very good posts in this thread reminding me/us it all starts at the top and lingers. We have the 32nd best Owner in the NFL rinsing and repeating forgettable football. Our new HC is already walking a tight rope of potentially losing the team by pretty much announcing or unofficially saying Watson has earned the right to start in Monken's mind. Watson hasn't been the QB he was in Houston and he got the 1st start to prove that wrong but he couldn't. No more needs to be seen from him. There better be a REAL short hook with him this Sunday; or the home openner a week later is going to have a lot of lonely food vendors with nobody to feed but flocks and flocks of seagulls with instatiable appetites... Other than that, things are pefect...

Tale of the Tape - Browns @ Buccaneers
