I'm at a loss. TJ Ward now Joe Haden under consideration, who does this team think they are, the Broncos?
Haden needs to stay. Wtf is the debate about?
Comparable to Miinnefield...not so sure, but absolutely on his way. Not a guy we need toy with. Get a freakin grip you 2014 genuis'.
Who are you kidding ? TJ was stud with us, he'll be missed and we should have chased him.
I wish him luck he'll do well in Denver. Should have been kept a Brown.
So now we know Harbaugh's username on this board is CLERK
Was rooting for Broncos and Seahawks. Cannot stand the thought of Belichick in another SB and I think Manning is a better QB than Brady and wanted to see that put to bed. Hate that Elway has anything to do with a SB again though.
Seahawks because I don't like Kaepernick and Bouldin really soured me on the niners last two weeks, he's a no class schmuck ... but a heck of a player. Not a fan of all Harbaugh's ranting and dancing on the sideline either.
For the win, Seahawks. Sorry Peyton, you're a great QB but deep in my heart I could never wish for another Denver SB win, particularly because of Elway. I don't believe Seattle will win though.
Excellent! This team is the joke of the NFL, more than any other team in the NFL, face it. There was once a pride in being associated with this team, but beyond Jimmy's control, that is long gone. In Jimmy's court is, the ability to build consistency and start something great. Well, year one and consistency out the window. The Trent move looked great, despite how I and so many others felt when it happened. For the first time in entirely too long, I felt as if the team management actually had a clue that was eagerly accepted by so many fans (including me) feeling our organization had direction, smarts and a future. Thanks for defusing that idea. Chud hardly got a chance and now Norv is headed to even bleaker, yet more promising long term hope. Is it possible to have any less confidence in an organization? Jimmy you are familiar with an organization called the Pittsburgh Steelers ? Well they've had less coaches in their entire existence than we've had in the last 10 years. Does that mean anything? Yes, it means the Rooney family has a clue and patience to build some credibility. I do not like the Steelers but I most definitely respect and appreciate them. Let's keep on track with your current thought process and in 3 years we'll be lucky to get the assistant coach of the St. Ann's school for girls field hockey team as a candidate for Cleveland Browns head coach job.
2013 was a sham and 2014 is looking even worse. Great positioning for draft picks, so now we can continue the idea of a 'young promising team' and be hopeful our coach, whoever that brave soul is, will last more than 2 years at a time.
Would have loved to see Shurmur end up with the Jets, they deserve a guy like him and their further demise would be fun to watch. Good luck getting a handle on Vick, Shurmur ... or is Vick getting a hold on Shurmur ??
Really ?, this guy is excited to move back to Cleveland and you're going to slam him. Assbasket, that's BS, to each their own. Happy for you if you're headed to where you want to be and for all who like where they are. Tell you one thing though, I can only imagine how cool the Browns games are pre, during and post game time. Have been a fan since early 70's and only been to one game in the old stadium Had a blast and people were fantastic. Love the team, most loyal fans in the NFL (pretty much have to be to put up with the BS), support anyone who roots for the Browns .. well almost anyone.
All the best Cambrigdeho !
Keep Weeden another season at least. Let him be a leader, he has professional sports experience, which IS worth allot. Can't help but think Shurmur never respected Weeden's ability, nor McCoy's which is just another reason Shurmur will not be good anywhere. The guy has little confidence that the players can be as much a part of the team's success (with their own input and decisions) as the coach. Norv has been around allot longer and seems much smarter. What baffles me is why, with the tracking capabilities teams have now, would they continue to use a failing system ? Surely the points this article bring out were able to be viewed during teh season as well. Not as much as hindsight, but even during the use, they couldn't see Weeden's capabilities and what his habits were and change their theme ? Dumb coaching, dumb management. Cannot say at this point Weeden will be the future of this team, but he definitely shows the most promise we've seen and read than anyone over the last several years.
Really looking forward to 2013 / 14 season, can't start soon enough !
The Browns / Ravens thing is LONG over, move on. The Ravens are not the reason we've sucked for the last several years. Modell - yes - miserable jackass, glad he was not inducted to HOF. Ray Lewis - yes - miserable jackass,NOT the greatest linebacker of all time and hate when anyone goes there. LT was. Glad Ray's gone.
But, the Baltimore fans are not responsible for Cleveland and Modell thing. They lost their team too, only they did not get to keep their colors, history, etc. Granted, Cleveland fought that battle and Baltimore probably should have (if they did not) as well, but we have a team, they have a team. I rooted for Ravens too because of division thing, AFC thing, etc. Glad they won, sorry Ray got another ring though. Flacco deserves the recognition and good for him, hope he gets a good contract. Harbaugh is a good coach. Receiving corp extremely talented.
Today another story, SB and season are over. The Ravens are again one of our division rivals, so Go Browns, screw the Ravens.
Not sure the defensive theme defines the Browns as copying anyone, nor the statement 'like the Steelers did'.
The west coast theme was started by SF and we talked about that for a few years.
Once the Browns get on the map for winning with consistency, thedefensive or offensive formations will likely not be seen as copying but formation options they chose.
Need to face it, until this team shows any kind of track record, they'll be 'doing what someone else has done'. Bottom line though, regardless of formations, it's the leadership of the team, players, etc., that will make the browns be recognized. They could have the best themes in the game and lousy players and be nobody.
Count me in!!!
Not me, the Baltimore / Cleveland thing is long over. Can't be pissy anymore, we've had plenty of time to get off our asses and make a teaqm, just like they did. The move was over 12 years ago, time to get over it.
Baltimore was a victim of the same stuff, lost their team to Indy, a few others the same, time to move on.
I'd much rather see Ozzie with a ring than anybody in S.F.
Modell is gone, time to bury the hate.
Division rival, O.K., fair game, but 'the team we lost', long over. Having said that, if it were the Squeelers going, I'd be rooting anybody other than them, but even that is not so much a division rival thing as I just cannopt stand the bandwagon fans that jumped on the Squeeler train.
I'm rooting aganust S.F. and I think Flacco deserves his fair recognition.
Ray Ray, hate that we're going to be watching hsi dancing, crying, carrying on for the next two weeks.
Why Haslam would think at this stage this team can take a chance on a guy with such screwed credentials and background, is beyond me.
This team is not in a position to see what can develop, they need solid direction, leadership and choices to get their feet firmly on the ground, then maybe play with some chancy decisions.
Lombardi sounds completely wrong for where this team currently is (or any other team for that matter). Why would Cleveland look at a guy no one else cares to ? Are we in such a place that we can develop management ? We haven't even proven we can develop the talent that is capable of being developed yet - or - proven we have the right management to even go there yet.
Bad move, I was very excited and had allot of confidence in Haslam's moves - like the Norv Turner call, so so on Chud, but they do have their positives - what at all is positive about Lombardi ???
Once again, getting just a bit squirrly about the next Browns season.
Is it Rivers or Turner that has choked the last several seasons when they repeatedly fell short ?
I think Rivers, but if it is Turner, he won't be HC here, so that's fine.
Too soon to bail on Weededn and the option would be Rivers and DA back ? DA can stay away and Rivers never seems to get the job done.
Good news, weak HC, good OC. Browns organization actually chasing some long term investments.
Future looking up !
Organization is the key, 100 % agree, but Flacco is no Dereke Anderson.
Flacco has proven allot and does deserve recognition. One of the top 5, no way, but certainly well above DA caliber.
The targets they have gotten for Flacco have raised his game a bunch and the chemistry rubs off both ways.
Flacco carrying on about being one the greats is definitely BS, but the guys does deserve credit for what he has done and done well.
I don't think he meant it as an insult to the Browns at all. Saban is raping at Alabama why would he want to leave? I think he was complimenting Smart with the comment.
He mentioned the Browns twice, as if to say 'why would anyone go there'. He did make a point that Saban would be a fool to leave Ala., but why bring up the Browns twice and in a derogatory way on National TV.
The dipshit nearly passed out talking about McCarren's girlfriend. He needs to quit mixing up the blue pills with the heart pills.
BCS game Brent Mussberger saying "Nick Saban going to the Cleveland Browns ? I don't think so".
Then later, "perhaps Alabama's defensive coach might consider the Cleveland Browns job".
What an ass.
Anybody in their right mind think Saban is considering leaving his current job ???
5.3 million as one of the most elite coaches in college ??
I don't think so.
Who uses Checquebooks anymore anyway ? Just hit the ATM, pay that puppy cash or go paperless and do the deed !
Sheesh !!
BTW - Is this move REALLY something you feel strong about ??? Just curious.
