Beanpot's League
Okay ... Let's see ... Werewolves of Linden became the latest in a long line of teams (6 to be precise) to smack down Greenville Mayhem. When asked about this latest defeat, Mayhem grumbled something about having tried every possible combination of players with no luck. "They seem to sense when they're in my lineup and take the opportunity to ride the pine, take the week off, rest on their laurels, or whatever it is that players do when they don't score POINTS," emphasizing the last word with crazy eyes, followed by deep breaths and a frustrated smirk. Werewolves: 109 and the Toyota Trophy, Mayhem 51 fewer points. 51!!!! Gad.
Believeland took a shot at knocking off Beanpot. Suspiciously, Larry Fitzgerald and Chicago's DEF, who were both expected to score an unimpressive 8 points each, scored 28 and 30 points respectively for Beans, giving him the win. Believeland was mute in defeat, evidently stunned by either the closeness of the contest, Beans' uncanny knack of squeezing massive points out of his players, or the fact that the Browns found yet one more odd way to lose. (Haven't we seen EVERY possible way for the Browns to lose???) Of course, nearly every fantasy team owner has been mute in both victory AND defeat this season. Must be something in the water. Or the beer. Oh... Beans 110 and the Viagra award, Believeland 95.
Da da da da-dot the I ... da da da da-dot the I da da da da da da-dot the I I I ..... (I'll leave you to figure out the tune I had running through my head) Anyway.
The Usual Suspects fell victim to da da da da Dot the I 106-58.
Zombo's WildDawgs knew their coach and general manager was kicking up his heels and avoiding taxi doors in Cleveland, so they goofed around too, losing to the last place Redneck Roosters, 86-62. Must've been some of Hoorta's orange stuff that did them all in. (There are pictures.)
The Average Joe's team didn't play all that well but Bob Gronkowski (27) kicked it into high gear and made up for the slackers. Gronkowski must've stolen yards from BenJarvis Green-Ellis (zip) who played for the Joes opponent, NavDawg's Browns. Marcel Reese added another nada to the Browns' points column, giving the win to the Joes, 88-67. Green-Ellis and Reese will each be receiving 40 lashes with a wet noodle as a consequence of their worthless performances.
The Ballantyne Buckeyes and the TexChainsaw Massaquoi were both underachievers this week. Is the more successful underachiever the team who scored more points (hence winning the game and being successful despite underachieving) or the team who lost (therefore proving themselves the best at doing the worst)? I'm sure the one or two people who have read this will not lose sleep over the dilemma. Buckeyes 74, Massaquoi 70 in sort of a squeaker. Massaquoi is now trying to figure out why he didn't put Gano and SF's DEF in instead of Folk and Baltimore's D. Ooops, there it is.
Oreo's Hangout
Oreo was evidently searching for mice, sharpening her claws, and lying back licking her chops after treats instead of coaching her team. Beanpot had his team back in top working order. Beans 91, Cat 79. Oreo currently has the distinction of having exactly the same points for and against: 782. I'm not sure what that means, but in a season with very little to meow about, I guess that's something.
Bronx Browns lost Knowshon Moreno (3) to a season-ending torn ACL. Starting QB Jay Cutler (1). CJ Spiller (0), and Mohammed Massaquoi (0) also didn't help. The Browns weren't able to overcome. Not even Bob Gronkowski's 27 (left on the bench) would have been sufficient to top the DD's who brought home the bacon. DD's 69, BB's 32. The Bronx Browns have one thing to smile about: They weren't the lowest scoring team.
The "worst of the worst" honors this week go to Kamac 19 whose team did a spectacular job of performing below expectations. Kamac has official permission to walk around with a frowny face or whatever one does on this sort of occasion. The Hammer lucked out, winning a 6th in a row, 78-31.
Lambdo's Air Show seems to be taking a run at the #4 spot and a stab at the championship. With four weeks to go and dirty hands fading in the stretch, there's a possibility he might pull it off. Air Show took on Choo Choo's who didn't make it easy with Arian Foster (27) leading the charge. Air Show managed to fend off the attack and notch a critical victory, grabbing the Viagra to in the process. Air Show 104, Choo Choo's 94.
Dirty hands opened the door for Air Show (to move up in the standings)and let Kentucky Barn Burner win the matchup all in one fell swoop. Barn Burner was smokin' with Aaron Rodgers (30) and Laurent Robinson (19). Barn Burner 100, Hands 65.
Gocong Or Go Home clung to the League lead by leveling hammertime 92-57
Th-th-that's all for now, folks!
