if we draft ANOTHER (MUTHERFUCKING) QB this year we will be proven to be the worse 'new' franchise in football history. last year geno smith wouldn't have been compared to brandon weeden's irregularly sized left nut hair and now people are saying he'll be taken before number 6???

DID EVERYONE ON THIS FUCKING PLANET JUST GO INSANE??????

fuck it let's trade our 1st, 3rd and 4th round pick to move up one spot to have buffalo trade up in front of us to take a guy that will be out of football in 2 years.

fucking morons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont have to worry about being the worst franchise in football history. The Lions have that locked up.

Hey guys, Lions fan here.

I was just curious, is there still any chance the Browns could draft a guy like Jarvis Jones at #6 even though Kruger and Groves were signed?

Lol i was just looking around on the board when i saw "Joe Thomas-First Round Bust"...of course I had to read it. If im not mistaken, Joe Thomas is considered arguably the best LT in the game. I remember when the Lions had the #2 pick in the 07 Draft. I cant imagine how hard it was to decide between Calvin and Joe. Of course they both went on to be great. Joe Thomas might be the best LT in the game, while Calvin might be the best WR in the game.

Either way, saying Thomas is a bust is complete stupidity.

I think it might be smarter for Cleveland NOT to trade up. I mean, its not like you guys DONT have a QB. Because if you do trade up, most likely youre gonna have to give up #22. So ask the question, would I rather have ONE or TWO first round players? To me, i would rather have 2. Especially for a team with multiple needs. Just my 2 cents.

So we should take RG III just because a bunch of mock drafts say we should? AND trade up to do so? All depends on what kind of offers the Rams get for that pick. Let 'em trade out of it- to have Blackmon fall right in our lap.

If I were you guys, Id be very happy. Im sure you are anyway. Like mentioned in what I quoted, if you dont move up to take RGIII, be more than happy with Blackmon. I dont think the Browns 2012 is gonna be made or broken by the selection of RGIII.

You had us trading up.

I dont understand?

Thanks, I appreciate the cut down. Didnt know what I did wrong, but whatever.

That is probably no worse than anyone else who does a mock draft would do.

I will say this: last year he had the Browns taking AJ Green. The Browns WOULD have taken AJ Green if he were there. But the Bengals snatched Green first. It is the whole butterfly effect. One move throws off the entire rest of the draft from the perspective of someone doing a mock.

Think what the Browns situation would have been if AJ Green were there. They take him, which means they don't trade down. No Phil Taylor, no Greg Little....it is quite possible that not a single player that they got would have been taken by them.

Actually my final mock draft last year got several more correct than Kiper.

Just like almost all mocks out there have you guys taking RGIII, im wondering if you think Cleveland absolutely HAS to trade up with St. Louis to get him? At this point, and with the whole Rookie Wage Scale, im saying that almost HAVE to. I think if St. Louis is on the clock and no one trades with them, there will be guys on the phone with Minnesota. I think Cleveland has to trade up or theyll lose out on RGIII.

My 2012 NFL mock draft, as of now... (Click on player's name for scouting reports...)

4.) Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor... Ba-boom! No matter what happens, this guy is going to bring something back to Cleveland Browns football that hasn't been seen in years, (maybe even decades)... FUN! Way too much upside to pass on him.

22.) Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor... I think he'll be the most talented player on the board, if he's still there at the #22 spot. Moreover, he and RGIII obviously have phenomenal passing game chemistry. Why break up a good thing?

37.) Vontaze Burfict, MikeLB, Arizona St... Tired of always seeing Pittsburgh & Baltimore linebackers relentlessly lighting us up? Time for some payback.

68.) LaMichael James, RB, Oregon... Zoom, zoom, zoom! Speedy, undersized RB with soft hands. Has a gamebreaking, true 2nd gear we desperately need.

100.) Matt McCants, OT, Birmingham... Right side of the O-line is officially sealed. If he's still there at the #100 slot, it's a no brainer. Our right side is set.

118.) T.Y. Hilton, WR, Florida International... Small school, madman slot receiver. Obscene speed, (said to run a 40 yard dash in just under 4.3 seconds.)

131.) Trenton Robinson, FS, Michigan St... Smallish for a Free Safety, but a real ballhawk. Former cornerback. Great value. Never backs down to anyone.

164.) Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas... Bone crusher, with potential to be a starter as a 4-3 LDE. 6'5", 270 lbs. Could gain 8-12 lbs., without losing any speed. Great depth, at the very least.

184.) Evan Rodriguez, FB, Temple... Regardless of what happens with Hillis, our offensive scheme needs a FB to open lanes, no matter who's running. Rodriguez has fine hands and speed, to boot.

At this point id be shocked to see Burfict fall to 37.

So other than QB being arguably the top need (?), the Browns are really focusing on bolstering their front 7 huh? At this point, #4 might be a reach for any defensive lineman or LB based on todays rankings. Not saying anyone really plans on taking one that early. If for some reason the Browns trade down, that would be a prime spot. But as it looks now, #22 would be a great spot to upgrade the front 7. Some names that come to mind are Melvin Ingram, Vontaze Burfict, Bruce Irvin... Being a Lions fan, I'd love to have Burfict, but his on the field character kinda makes you scratch your head. Hes one heck of a playmaker, but you hate to see a 4 yard tackle for loss, followed by a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct.

What if Holmgren decided to give McCoy another year, then stayed put at #4 and drafted Morris Claiborne and then a pass rushing DE at 22? That would be a big defensive upgrade.

Correct me if im wrong, but the Browns are now running a 4-3 right?

@kosar_for_president said:

Apparently you have not seen Shannon Brown play this year, lol.

Lol ive never even heard of him.

Which makes me now believe that CB is a Cleveland Browns need?

@kosar_for_president said:

72 tackles, 4 picks and 16 pass defended is not a bad season my friend. He's a solid starter.

I do believe he is our best corner, but I dont think Id go as far as saying hes a "solid starter". Look at Alphonso Smith's stats last year. His stats make him look like a solid starter, but hes a nickel back at best.

@dawginit said:

How's Eric Wright? LMAO.

Aw man, a lot of Lions fans really like him. But the difference with me is I actually watch the games and am not a big fan. That just goes to show how bad our corners are because hes probably our best one. That guy is ALWAYS getting flagged for something. But then again, the refs will flag the Lions for bad grammar too..

First off, Id like to thank everyone for being kind to an outsider. It really sucks when you go to a forum and get blown off cuz you arent one of them.

It sounds like a common theme is that no one REALLY knows if QB should be addressed at #4 or stick with Colt or Seneca. Now, I know its two different situations, but back in 2009 when the Lions had the number one pick, MOST fans wanted Aaron Curry, the linebacker from Wake Forest. We all knew that we needed a stud linebacker and thought that we should at least give Drew Stanton a chance, or that we were good enough with what we had. Not only that, but a lot of us werent even sold on Stafford and thought we should wait til next year to get Bradford. Obviously, we drafted Stafford. And I know hes not Brady or Rodgers, he is making all of us very happy to have him on our team and has gained full support. I guess what im saying is that one lesson I learned about how a team can be built is that your franchise QB is so important and its almost like you feel you cant take that next step until you know for sure you have "that guy".

Now like I said, these are two different situations. That 08 Lions team was about as bad as you can get. We could have taken a punter number one overall and still upgraded the team. So at least the Browns have some solid pieces set, and you guys are lucky you have #4 and #22 (22, right?).

I think if you dont go QB at #4, it would be hard to pass on Blackmon or Richardson if they are still there. Of course all of this depends on how FA works out.

CANTON LEGEND - It was very frustrating, but not surprising at all. Our defensive backs are absolutely horrible.

Hey guys, whats going on. Lions fan visiting here, hence my name.

Definetely not here to talk trash, especially because a Lions fan should be the last to talk trash lol.

I was just trying to get a little idea on the state of the Browns franchise...coaches, players, etc. Trying to learn a little about each team. Like lots of people do, I like to make a mock draft every year. But this year, I'd like to talk to fans from each team and really get an idea of what each team REALLY needs and what the fans think they will draft. To me, thats a lot more accurate of a way of doing it than listening to Todd McShays bull crap. I've already talked a little with a few other teams, but most just kinda blow me off.

I know very little about the Browns. So if someone were to ask me what their team needs are, I would probably say QB, WR, and RB? I dont know a thing about the Browns defense. But for offense, is Colt McCoy REALLY the guy you want leading your team? And from what it sounds like, its almost like Hillis might not be back and Hardesty is always hurt.

I completely understand there is a lot of time left before the draft. We still have a few weeks of playoffs yet, free agency, combine, pro days..etc.

But right now, if the draft were tomorrow, I'd have to say Indy takes Luck, Rams take Blackmon, ViQueens take Kalil, and Browns take Trent Richardson?

Guess it all depends on RGIII, huh.

Anyway, I hope you dont mind me lingering around until the draft. Im always interested in talking football regardless of what team. So if anyone can educate me on the Browns, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks guys!
