Remember this life is short enjoy every minute and work together for common interests. Stan still is the man. This board needs to work as a unit bringing back the glory years. I had the opportunity to enjoy as it was called in the fifties "the greatest show in football" and recently the worst. But working together and being smart can restore something so special most of you never experienced.

The Legacy of a great person and the BrownsBoard it will never be the sameThis will be lengthy but Stan deserves in his absence how his leadership was in all that happened all these years. Mind you I have mostly stopped posting on the Board for years for several reasons.
Not sure if it was back in 1997 when I first talked to Stan on AO or 1995. Not sure it was 2003 when Stan kicked off the board he which kicked me off buku times only to let me back. Stan and I connected on facebook the last several years while I chose mostly to stay away from his board. He was a great smart good person, we will all miss him and his leadership here. I admired his drive to do things! We spoke many times often.
Back in 1995 Kathy Hutchins and I (probably through AOL) got involved in getting the Browns name to stay in Cleveland and get an expansion team. A fellow from San Francisco named Joe was our third partner in faxing calling and doing all we could to get a new team. Kathy a member leader here on the Browns Board from the beginning passed away a few years back. That was sad. Beanpot who is a current member helped her in her last days. During those years a man named FATDAD( his name escapes me) who lived in Cleveland started an internet thingy about the Browns. I met him several times at the beach. He passed away in the 2000+ years in Myrtle Beach. The late nineties are now a blur. The early 2000's are frightening for the mayhem as Kathy would say. But Stan was part of it and we got a team and the team would start up in 1999. During the those late nineties it was all a lovefest waiting for the team to return. Along that way I interchanged with a person named Ghoolie whom I had spats constantly about everything. We threatened each other.
Then comes the inaugural game in 1999 opening against the Steelers. Well the Browns lost 43-0. Before the game was a tail gate like never before!! A bunch of current members attended. Stan and Roach were two leaders at the tailgate. Zombo was their sidekick. Kathy Hutchins showed up in Orange tennis shoes. Ghoolie and I were prepared for global warfare we ended up hugging and being great friends ever since that day. But is was clear Stan was emerging as our leader.
Through the years we mostly disagreed on a lot things but both decided Tim Couch was a bum. The Jacksonville bottle gate put a bad feeling in Stan's mouth he probably never got over. We would go meet at tailgates once a year when I came to a game. Sometimes having big time parties the night before or after the game. I even hosted a party for the crew in downtown Cleveland after the last game I attended which Kathy and Stan and Zombo attended as well. Stan was always the MAN.
After years of amicability with Stan, I get a call from my great friend Ghoolie last Sunday am. He says I have bad news. Stan has passed. I love Stan for all he did. I regret that we also fought a lot. But we respected each other.
So Stan built this thing and here it is living well I hope. Keep Stan alive by making this the greatest fan board on the planet. Please adopt his legacy make it stay alive. Place something somewhere about how he loved Mentor High School. Make sure his jersey number one of the Browns DAWG Pound cannot remember if it was Dixon or Minnifield that he adorned stays onboard here. Make sure wherever this site goes Stan is always a part of it. I suggest that for Kathy Hutchins as well as two people that made it happen the Browns and the site. They would both like that to happen!
We have a team that took on great odds to return. Someday the glory will return! That will make Stan Happy!
Do what you can to solace Kathy and his children while they grieve.

Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffWell let's go off of how they have played instead of assuming they'll all be pro bowlers. Though the OP said All Pro... which is a good bit of difference.
Zeke is a great HB. Played behind a great OL last season and his been suspended this season. But he is a great player. Taking him top 5, for us, would have been dumb.
Bosa is playing great. No knock there.
Thomas gets to play with Brees on a great offense. I bet Coleman could do a lot of similar things in that O.
Lattimore is definitely good. Shazier was too I think.
But the idea that there is just mountains of all pros coming out of OSU every year and that all we need to do is draft OSU players to win is dumb. It just is. People will disagree to get a reaction out of me or out of blind allegiance.
OSU had their best class ever two drafts ago. There were good players in that draft we could have taken. But to expect the same amount of production out of them on this Browns team is incorrect. To say all we need to do is draft a bunch of OSU players to win is dumb. That's it.
What has the great OL AND D DONE since Zeke went out...............PPPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT FARTED..........Shazier was an absolute stud and so was zeke and Bosa you want more? There is nothing about me that is dumb.............it is about being smart..........Eddie George? Mikal Thomas? AJ Hawk? Zeke? all those starting lineman about 10 none on our team, all those 7-10 starting dbs everywhere, Deron Lee, Heward, Ted Ginn, and on and on it goes. How stupid can you be to ignore a hometown team that produced Laurinitis..........and all these guys never drafting a one including Big Ben who may win his third Super Bowl this year who was OHIO his whole life and a browns fab. Stupid is seeing a box of chocolates peeing in it
So lets discuss winning instead of incompetence about whom is whom. I am all ears filled with 20 years of cowpoop

Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffYes, if only we drafted all OSU players... that would fix everything.
Many are becoming All Pros? Damn, which one's? Zeke was I think. Bosa?
Yes, need a legit threat at the #2 DE. But shouldn't a pass rush from the LBs be better even with Ogbah down? Wonder if they might be motivated to take a pass rushing LB in round 2 of the draft.
"offensive juggernaut" in 1946 was attempting a forward pass, right?
You do not get it. Paul Brown introduced the West Coast Offense into the AAFC in 1946 they won the championship all four years. He taught it to bill walsh and now they all know it. The Browns won three NFL championships in there first six years with "Automatic Otto Graham throwing the ball and Marion Motley running over people and catching passes. Sometime check on history of the NFL and AAFC before just spouting off bs

Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffThere's a LOT of your post I disagree with, primarily that Offense wins championships. Couldn't disagree more. The very era you are touting proved that wrong. We are re-living that history now and no one has learned anything from it. Who won the championships in those years and what was their focus? Defense and ball-control offenses based off the run. They annihilated those very pass-oriented teams with their celebrity QBs. Denver did it just 2 years ago and everyone conveniently forgets that, as well.
As far as OSU, though, I doubt anyone here wants the OSU QB with the #1 pick. Not sure why they don't draft the defensive lineman and linebackers and - in other years - the CBs. Dorsey seems to draft from the Power 5 conferences that are dominant at the time. Big 10 - and OSU - may not be in that list right now.
You still don't get it and never did the Browns win all those championships with defense it was "bend but don't break defense" and an offense juggernaut and that is even moreso today

Ode to Marty and Bernie - Browns win by -6Kizer played well enough to win...AGAIN.............. the reason the Browns lost was because of Hue Jackson. Why did he let Marty Shottenheimer and Bernie Kosar call the game today? 21- 7 and then............... CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE................... LMAO @ the Browns.
Seriously, I hear guys say that we have to develop continuity, DUDES................ the Browns are the model of continuity....................
1) Do not participate in drafting play makers
2) Do not make a QB a top priority. Continually refuse to get a quality QB.
3) Waste draft #1 picks on average talent like Garrett, Coleman and Joe Thomas
4) Call plays as if Bernie Kosar was the OC 2nd and 1......................D biting on the run.............call a slow developing sideways running play.....go to 3d and 8.
Hue wasting a challenge on a pass play that only took the opponent to the 39 yard line? Idiotic. Hue losing the challenge? HILARIOUS.
DORSEY's RECORD AS GM - 0 - 1 He picks up where Sackashitsi left off.

Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffBrownPile you don't get it. Average score for winning team in Super Bowl is more than 31 points. That includes all those games way back when when it was D that was more important than now. BTW, how many points did the patriots score in the second half last year? You don't get it Browns management doesn't get it and as long as they pander to fans like you that don't get it they will keep losing
-
Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffGhoolie and I been posting on how to getting it for going on 20 years when is this board and Browns management EVER going to get IT
-
Are the Browns going to change or just keep doing the wrong stuffI hope Dorsey or somebody understands there is a school in the middle of Ohio that turns out high draft picks every year many becoming All Pros. Why do none of these players ever get drafted by the Browns? I hope that somehow someway they start understanding that players who touch the ball are the most important ingredient to winning especially the QB. There are a lot of people on the scouting staff that ends up picking bums every year. I hope they understand that no matter how good oline guys play you lose if players who touch the ball don't make plays that make line play better. The easiest thing to fix on a football team is the offensive line. The one thing that is unfixable is a lousy QB and lousy RB's. An Adrian Peterson or Ezkiel Elliott is invaluable they passed on the both. They have passed 15-20 qbs many who are or will hofers. They passed on Michael Thomas to pick Coleman. If fact they passed on so many OSU players it makes the staff look like buffoons. I hope they understand that in the current era Offense wins championships.
In 1987 the worst thing happened to the Browns that led to 25 years of lousy teams. The Dawg Pound was created and focus went to defense and drafting oline guys. THE Cleveland Browns heritage is being an offensive juggernaut from 1946 to 1989. Then they threw the Brownie into lake Erie and quit drafting offensive studs and Ohio State players and been losing ever since.
The Dawg Pound should be replaced the Brownie should be brought back and Offense needs to be emphasized instead of an after thought. They need to transform the Dawg Pound into Touchdown Brownie!
If they keep doing the same as they have since Marty left they will get the same results.

Home Opener Steelers Tailgatewtf happened to the discussion board now that we can draft 10 ol guys next year 2 dbs and one dl an win the super bowl dePosta gets in alone in Cleveland

● 1964 Niles vs Massillon "game of the century" 30,128 att. 48+52 unbeaten streaks ▪︎ Akron Rubber Bowl ▪︎● Nice posts. ● I went to the game when Niles played Cardinal Mooney in 1963. Mooney dominated Niles and had one loss for the year. They should have won but sometimes the best team loses. Mooney was better than Niles that year. They dominated every team including Niles. I just wish one team in Ohio can become a dominant force for years like Massillon was. Where is Paul Brown a champion at every level when you need him Browns. BTW the attendance at that game was 15-20,000 at Youngstown Rayen Stadium where YSU played then.

2004made a statement not drafting ben would haunt the Browns it has immensely. Made a statement get Brees or Rivers they failed it hurt immensely. Made a statement draft Adrian Peterson it hurt immensely. Made a statement the following would be busts Droughns, the worn out ahole from Bmore and the worst number one pick ever Quinn would fail. Made a statement draft Jones or Green total failure. Made a statement draft Zeke...snooze yu lose
So here I am back again waiting to get pissed on from you idiot geniuses.............lets rumble assholes
NOW I AM BACK TO LET YOU KNOW I KNOW FOOTBALL BETTER THAN THE ANALYSTS AND HERE TO HELP BRING WHAT WAS ONCE THE GREATEST SHOW IN FOOTBALL THE CLEVELAND BROWNS AND IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT MAKING TDS
-
what we really need here again is a stud offensive tackle or a new cornerbackWe done this idiot shit in the first round for twenty years it will work now. WHO the fuck needs people who makes tds
-
Well we keep doing it losingWe keep ignoring the best damn team in the land a drafting another OL guy............best formula for losing ever
-
Well we keep doing it losingWe failed to get a single Ohio State player going on ten years and we passed on what we need best a RB zeke will be a game changer in the NFL and then we passed on a franchise QB lynch and we picked a shrimp in a NO D conference so here we go again repeating shit and being dumb for getting one shot pick and losing mybe a good one
See yall next year after we fire everyone again
the buckeyes got 12 drafted three first round five in round three 12 overall...........the Browns kept there record clean drafting crap and not a buckeye for ten years............makes sense for a LOSER
