The 2024 Analysis thread - Dawn of The 9

I've said it before, Ford makes bad decisions as to where to run.
He's basically guessing, and when you give him a lead or a pull, he almost follows it blindly. To the point where he runs into his blockers quite a bit. His feel and anticipation for open lanes, his patience to allow his blocks to develop and his eyes, which tends to invite second level tacklers right to him - are all VERY subpar.
Dallas started getting away with lighter box counts middle of the 2nd and the running game didn't generate much of anything. At that point, they're winning the numbers game on offense and defense - it was over then.
And what is our RB coach doing to correct this tendency? I don't see that Duce is doing much of anything for this team.
You can only coach so much before you need your players to just execute better in their roles. I can white board all day with professionals and understand the conversation... Doesn't mean I'm able to play QB at an NFL level.

Yank his ass out of the game when he doesn't do it as coached, have a nice sideline talk and leave him there a few minutes on the bench to contemplate his error (s). Put him back in for another go. Repeat as needed. I don't see that happening.

Consider the RB situation.
Ford. Meh.
Strong - rather large fumble risk.
Hines - inactive
Chubb - IR
Foreman - I believe inactive? Didn't see the field once if he was.
Doesn't leave much room to pull your starter.

Well we could always put a uni of Derrick Henry on loan.?22
I love the idea of bad luck to drop my question RBs AYPC another .5.
?
-
I hate the thought that Nick Chubb is on the back 9 of his career.
-
Went 4-0 last week when we included the 2 leg parlay of DAL +3 and the Over 43.
Picks that we've narrowed down and will be waiting on final injury report before locking in.
KC -6 vs CIN
LAC -4.5 @ CAR
IND-2.5 @ GB
NE +3.5 vs SEA
DAL -5.5 vs N.O.Bonus tossed in for CFB
Florida +3.5 vs Texas A&M
Let's make bank!

Great job of "Diving into the Ford." Very happy you're doing this for yourself! I don't know if you heard but I haven't used Facebook in a long time. Can you join via email address?

On Facebook? No.
The second link is to the BrainyBallers site itself. So even when my work moves to Youtube, it'll still be linked to the site. And you can join with your email there.

"Jerome Ford is an absolute eye sore to the running back position."
Don't hold anything back tia.?
Unfortunately you're right.
And now compare that breakdown to D. Henry's work on his 87 yd run. Sure initially he has a big hole, but he also sets up his TE coming across his front and anticipates daylight to the right of the TE rather than just running up into the defender. And then it's just pure DH speed from that point on.

And that eye sore does collateral damage; so thank you for showing us a RB that knows how to get it done better than anyone right now Aggies!

In hindsight, I should have gone a *bit* easier. Ford isn't the worst RB I've seen.
That said, Smitty uses the right term for certain players - 'JAG'. That's what Ford is. He's an RB1 by default, not by talent.

Oh, and the picture right up front there of the guy (#9) trying to make a tackle low on a fast 250 lb guy? Yeah, Henry went right through him dropping him off to the medical tent to evaluate for concussion. He was laying on the ground asking for the license plate # of the truck that ran over him.
And this is a better run to make us jealous.

And how do you spell Coleman and Ogbah? C O U L D A B E E N H E N R Y. LOL!? With 3 stiffarms. Stupid F'N F. O.
(No I'll never forgive 'em)

Second offering. This one took a while, would be great if I could retire and focus on football full time ?
Don't forget to give the Facebook page a like.

This is something I'm incredibly proud to be apart of.
My business partner is the driving force behind this, but I've been adding in as much as I can from the film analyst, metric parameters and football I.Q. side of things.
This model is the combination of both analytics and old school film analysis (provided by yours truly) that produces a metric I feel is about the most comprehensive and complete grading scale/score you'll find being used by NFL evaluators.
There has been a shit ton of hours put into this, I'm sure some of you noticed I'm not around here anywhere near as much as I used to be. And there will be more hours to come as we work to continuously find ways to improve our scoring/grade system.
We're soft launching a month out from the draft. I'd appreciate anyone and everyone to go take a look, comb through and give us constructive feedback. Thanks to all of you in advance and I hope you enjoy.
-
@calfoxwc Will be pleased to hear that Tyler Warren has an SPS score that would project him at #6 all time in our grading model. With a project of top 12 in draft capital needed to pick him.

This won't make you feel any better. Because he was drafted 45th overall - it looks like they didn't want him in the 2nd round either. ?
They almost did the same thing to Nick Chubb when they used their 1st of two 2nd round picks on OG Austin Corbett.
Doesn't that seem like a very strange way for this team and many others to go out of their way to pretend RB is no longer a top priority in the draft? That said, all the years the Browns had Jim Brown they only won 1 Championship just like the Bears with Payton (and more so because of their defense that far into Payton's career).
This was just a coincidence as a kid in Western NY that Archie Griffin and Leroy Kelly & Greg Pruitt reeled me into those 2 teams. On top of that, my dad with the "you shoulda seen Jim Brown and Marion Motley. Even better were the gorgeous uniforms and helmet colors. The 1st impression I had of Michigan and their putrid uniforms was a dog lifting his leg on a fire hydrant. Anyway, I've always loved the running game in football. Look what it did for the Eagles...
After we get our future QB in this draft, I wouldn't mind seeing the Browns draft Arizona State's Cam Skattebo in a mid round. I even shared his pass receiving stats because he does it all. Surprisingly he shares the same weakness Jim Brown had - blocking for others (including his QB). Then again, Jim Brown never missed 1 game to injury so...

Oh I was fully aware of them passing over Chubb for Corbett and cussing up a storm until they took Chubb next.
I don't get to cuss them live this year since I'll be in San Antonio entertaining sister in law and her husband down from Lexington, Mass.
I'll save it for later after I google up the results.?
