I really want to like the kid, on paper he has attributes you want... but there just is something missing with this kid.
I know his WRs suck, but when push comes to shove he just seems so pedestrian.
It's his accuracy, his ball placement. Even when he isn't pressured.

I was more impressed with Notre Dame's back up QB who led his team to their first points the brief period Riley Leonard left the game. And it wasn't like he had much time to throw.
I didn't know Allar is from Cleveland and his family are huge Browns fans. Poor kid grew up watching some horrible role models at QB here. He's way too young to have witnessed Kosar and Sipe; but I'm sure his dad stirred his interest talking about them like my dad did with Graham and Ryan...

Couldn't tell you. What made Vince Young, Anthony Richardson, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn 1st round picks?
Not that this means anything - he's moved up Kiper's list to the 7th ranked QB.
Cardale Jones was a fill-in starter. Great athlete but my guess is outside of a couple BCS Games or so - he was too inconsistent to trust as the fulltime starter longer term.
All the players you listed had some sort of elite physical talents. Brady at least played in an offense similar to what the Patriots ran at the time. So that 'pro-minded' appeal was there.
Even though there were things he struggled with that were made clear as early as the 2005 bowl season.
Will seems to have the requisite size (two inches on JT) and I always thought while Barrett wasn’t a shrimp he didn’t stand tall in the pocket. Both had/have leadership qualities you look for in a QB.
Cardale was always a wildcard as a prospect he had 11 starts in college. And he had his infamous line where you wondered is this guy going to study and digest a playbook and run an NFL offense?
Probably an imperfect comparison on both fronts.
I suppose my point is made for me. JT produced as much as Howard despite being 6'2. So we're essentially pointing at Will being 6'4 and on a national championship team as the reasons. That would historically value him as a 5th rounder.
Kurtis Roarke is the QB l like as a mid round guy to get. Tall pocket passer type guy who had a heckuva season for IU. Any thoughts on him?
He's on my list, will get back to you. I'm shooting for write-ups on the top 8.

He’s actually from Medina, I watched him play in a few high school games when I lived there. He took them to the playoffs during his senior year.
He was also voted as Ohio’s Mr Football.

It's interesting watching Ward and Allar because I believe they have a similar weakness - accuracy and footwork coming off their primary.
The final INT last night was Allar moving front side 1 to 2 then backside 3. Which was open depending on ball placement. I'm not saying Drew's WRs are good - they aren't, but that doesn't mean if affects his ball placement.
There was a throw I vividly remember Ward had against Duke. It was a corner blitz from the boundary with a 3 deep, 3 under behind it. He went from the boundary where the pressure was coming from, then resets back to strength and mis-fired on a dig from a dagger concept.
It's probably the most common issue with all of these young QBs. These coaches do a great job setting up 1 & 2, then they use their legs to create space because working from a tight pocket gives them anxiety. So they aren't familiar with having to reset and maintaining good fundamentals of footwork and passing form. The accuracy suffers disproportionately to previous generations of QBs.

Is that because of Charlie Weiss?
Exactly. Weiss brought over a lot of the personnel groupings, formations and play structures they ran in New England. It was a huge talking point early when NoD started the season 4-1 that first year under Charlie.
It was also something they used as a selling point when Quinn went pro.

Allar should transfer and I don’t know where. Get better tutelage. 5 star no WRs and not progressing to the level you would like to see. And his all world TE is gone.
Beck seems like a good fit for Michigan.

I'd also think the Penn St staff will start recruiting WRs for the April transfer portal...

How funny would it be if he transferred to Ohio State?
I’m cool with starting the Julian Sayin era though

Well presented! Wait til they arrive at a league full of defenses with better foot speed and closing speed at the next level. If they're not speed reading the progressions and throwing late - they'll be throwing picks. Having said that, in the time many of them spend looking to the sidelines for the signal for the next play in college - at the next level they can break the huddle quickly and get into formation for their pre-snap reads in front of them. The kids that work at that - expedite their accuracy, comfort and being on time to make good stuff happen. There's a lot to process at first so a good organized coaching staff is an essential. Meanwhile this team has a lot of pre snap penalties that needs to be cleaned up.

It would be a good move for him. See Justin Fields and Will Howard.
Im a little worried next year about the QB and RB spots at OSU.

I guess I never really noticed how weak Ewers arm is.
They keep talking about the touch he shows, which is true, but EVERYTHING he throws seems like a underarm flip.

Asked me how I felt about it. I'm tagging you specifically because you've asked how I feel about Howard and why things take so long to give detailed and meaningful responses/content.
This..... This would be a prime example of everything wrong with the attempt at sports journalism. Rushed, void, likely AI-driven, lacking any quality detail and conclusion.
This is the antithesis to everything I do.

That reads like an above average 8th grader wrote it. The grammar, punctuation and spelling were rock solid, but it was totally void of any substance.

Re: McCord. Took a dive into his year at 'Cuse. I remember his 2023 quite well so that was unnecessary.
The big issue with his ranking will be his throwing and footwork mechanics. I've mentioned that both him and Cam need a lot of work. His release makes his arm almost flat at times and the ball comes out lower than it should. It's a high risk for balls getting batted down, but it's worse when you combine his windmill windup.
His initial windup mechanics before the hand crosses his shoulder reminds me a bit of Tim Tebow. That isn't a good thing because it nukes down field accuracy and makes back shoulder throws that much harder on the WR to adjust.
His footwork, driving through his delivery, with his trail leg coming up reminds me of another Buckeye QB from back in in the day - Todd Boeckman.
I remember this bomb to Robo and asking myself why his trail leg came up SO far. The drive through was just odd.
At 2:07
At 1:20... McCord does that alot as well.
These things are going to hinder him in the NFL a ton. Plus he still has a high penchant for turnovers when coming off his primary. I don't believe Kyle processes at an NFL level at the moment. None that would justify him climbing rankings.
And that is precisely why he is high on the Browns list. He is a lesser threat to Watson the Great
And that is precisely why he is high on the Browns list. He is a lesser threat to Watson the Great
That isn't true.
I am positive the Browns didn't seek to keep Flacco for that reason. This year is different. Watson is probably going to be IR'd for the year. His current set-back will keep him out until late Oct at the earliest. Probably later. The Browns aren't going to wait on that.
Secondly, the Browns are finally done with that mess. I get why they tried everything possible to make it work but now they are finally done. Now they are just waiting for next June to cut him when they can get out without a massive cap hit. It will still be a big hit, but at least it will be manageable.
We tried and it just didn't work out. All we can do is shrug our shoulders and move on. It is what it is.

I'm looking forward seeing what QB prospects intrigue you the most for the Browns and the why.
Yeah, putting in the research and summarizing how QB prospects stack up against each other is a time consuming endeavor I've never had the patience for or the intellect to GET what's transferable and what isn't. When people like to compare and contrast Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes for GOAT - was either guy such a consensus before the draft?
While the Browns and Bengals were having a tug-a-war about who was going to be the best QB drafted; Andy Reid stealthed in and dared to draft the BEST QB in that draft (Donovan McNabb) at #2 overall. If there was 1 Philly fan that thought that was a better decision than Ricky Williams to be their franchise savior - he never spoke up. Ricky went to Ditka (New Orleans) and ended up on prozac until he learned marijuana worked better.
This is what the guy Cleveland's brain trust never even considered would end up doing after being drafted in 1999 by the team with the worst record in the NFL in 98 per Google search summary here:
Donovan McNabb's record with the Philadelphia Eagles was 98 wins, 62 losses, and 1 tie as a starter. He led the Eagles to the postseason eight times, including five consecutive years from 2000 to 2004. McNabb's record with the Eagles also includes appearances in the NFC Championship Game four years in a row from 2001 to 2004, and one Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX.
Part of the Browns history in the draft with QBs seems very similar to what irks you from many of the sports journalists. They're in a hurry at the expense of finding their who and why it became so. This may very well be a weak QB draft in terms of volume; but I'm willing to bet this draft has more than 1 good/very good NFL QB in it when it's all said and done. Fate will probably reward diligence of research is my guess.

One recent theme of emphasis l’m seeing regarding draftable college QBs is the amount of experience they have. The 2 rookie QBs who arguably had the best 1st year as a pro were Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix, who both made a whopping 55 starts in college for 2 different programs.
I think both of those things, the many starts and the fact they were with 2 different schools, probably helps them in the “pro-ready” department. It’s something worth keeping an eye on now that NIL is its own animal and these guys don’t have a lot of incentive to turn pro until the eligibility runs out. We might be seeing more pro-ready QBs coming outta the woodwork since they’re incentivized to stay in school and they don’t have as much concern for injury as, say, a highly touted RB with a shorter shelf life as a pro.

I can tell you I'm about 60% done with Milroe. I've got all the clips recorded and spliced up with an outline of summary. Starting the article tonight.
Jalen is a hard pass for me. At #2, 33... Hell, top 50 even. He's a mid day 2 pick right now on my board.
