It's a tough, divisive issue - I find it wrong - but in some special circumstances, I understand it.

My disgust with the issue is women getting pregnant, and wanting to wait til the 4th - 9th month to decide

to destroy the child for no legitimate reason. why? so they can get those federal single mother checks coming in as long as possible?

    I don't get it.

Your perception of why women get an abortion and the reality of why and when women get abortions could not be more different.

But living in an alternate fantasy reality isn't new for you either...

you didn't read and understand my post, dumb ass. There are a lot of reasons for women deciding to have an abortion.

MY DISGUST... why do we always have to define words for you? Read the article below - one example - 23 weeks. That is over 5 months. So, mothers who decide to keep their baby past 5 months, the have 4 months of fed assistance coming in, only to wait til the ninth month to decide to destroy their child? Outisde of some health of the mother crisis, what other reasons are there?

Dec 13, 2023To be eligible, women must live in the specified region, be at least 18 years old, 23 weeks pregnant or less with your first child, and have an annual household income under $52,000.

I understood your post perfectly. They aren't that hard to follow.

Again, what is actually happening and what you think is happening are very different. You just have a very emotionally charged view on this issue.

I'd invite you to read up on the topic. Less than 1% of abortions are happening past 21 weeks.

More than a million abortions were provided in the U.S. in 2023. That's a major finding from a report published Tuesday by the Guttmacher Institute, a research organization that supports access to abortion.

To be precise, researchers estimate there were 1,026,700 abortions in 2023. "That's the highest number in over a decade, [and] the first time there have been over a million abortions provided in the U.S. formal health care system since 2012," explains Isaac Maddow-Zimet, a data scientist with Guttmacher.

    ... and?

I was making the point that you statistically have no idea what the realities are around abortion and that you're way too emotional on the issue. And I know numbers aren't your strong suit either. It seems fairly easy for you to be manipulated by data.

    You haven't exactly disproven that.

yes, you are a smart ass birdie, but I just showed how you dishonestly used a "1%" to sound like an extremely small number.

Pretty much you make a bird's ass of yourself trying to emotionally manipulate numbers to try to justify your bias.

Why, do you think my 1 percent calc is incorrect?

    "only 1%" emotionally fits you.

  • It’s amazing how far the sick and depraved have convinced themselves that murder is okay….

under zero circumstances is it alright to kill a baby.

what the hell is wrong with people?

shrinking down the viability date is a start but for crying out loud doesn’t any actually think about how God is gonna feel about us snuffing out the most precious thing he gives us?

keep in mind that the baby didn’t do anything wrong.

no matter what happened, life was created and to end it is murder.

  • The leftwing move to make any self-destructive behavior NOT result in unwanted consequences - is a loser in this election.

"defund police", "no arrests for non-violent crime", "assisted illegal drug use for illegal drug users" "abortion on demand at any length of pregnanacy", "releasing violent criminals/illegals" from custody, harboring illegals in "sanctuary cities"...."dei" emphasis on hiring in gov and the private sector, required dei in the military, teaching young children about perverted subjects........

it was a major vote getter for the left.

The American people have gotten sick of it, and voted to fix America.

  • Well this Topic is from last year 2024, yet the "proChoiceproLife" debate never gets old, does it!

[By the way: Are there woman members on this Forum? I ask because on this subject, the female perspective rather tends to be relevant!]

The following are characteristics I have observed from both sides of this debate.
    Consider this:

When a woman wants her pregnancy, she refers to her pregnancy as:
    "My child / my baby".

When a woman does not want her pregnancy, she refers to her pregnancy as:
    "The fetus / my body".

My conclusion, while sincerely not seeking to upset anyone on either side of the debate:
While recognizing that a proportion of pregnancies are due to incest / rape:
Otherwise, the debate boils down to female-selfishness!

I searched for a percentage for rape / incest related pregnancies,  but bear in mind that the term "rape" could include:
    incest, and
    non-reproductive penetration.

The reader can view relevant statistics here:

The possibility of any female-selfishness, to which I referred in my post above, cannot apply in the case of rape.

Not referring to rape or incest, but does the man ever get a say? The pregnant woman didn't become pregnant on her own, they both share in the responsibility for contributing in an act that could have a baby as an outcome. If the man wanted the baby, why should only the woman have the decision to abort or not? Especially if it's not life threatening.

You gotta admit the wording of the amendment leads to questions that aren’t immediately find-outable.

In layman’s terms, and assuming l understand the gist of the amendment, rather than have our elected officials do the gerrymandering, we’re going to appoint a panel of 15 people to do it instead, and those people will consist of republicans, democrats and independents, and what they say goes and that’s just how it’ll be.

I don’t expect it will pass. Every hardcore republican and democrat voter is going to want to know how many of their party will be involved in this panel, and what kind of independents and how many of those?

I agree gerrymandering is lame. At the very least it’s one of the many instances where you’re disappointed in your elected officials because, come on guys, this is what l’m paying you for?

I don’t think Issue 1  is the solution we will agree on though.

RE: The bold...  I disagree... I expect it to pass, rather easily. I couldn't find the number, but I'm sure it was in the 100s of thousands of signatures to get Issue 1 on the ballot in the first place. The number of Ohioans who are totally fed up with the repeated bullshit of Republicans drawing up gerrymandered districts- only to have them repeatedly get shot down by the Ohio Supreme Court is legion. The howling from the State GOP officeholders tells me everything I need to know. As Woody posted...  It's written confusingly on purpose by Republicans trying to preserve their power grab. IIRC, the final wording of the ballot language wound up being contested in court- more than once.

BTW, I've heard somewhere the Republicans are already planning on getting another amendment on the Ballot next year to try and repeal Issue 1, assuming it passes. Poor little guys having a hissy fit. ?

Ohio's Issue 1 was rejected by voters with a tally of 57% against and 43% in favor. This outcome reflects the majority's decision to maintain the current process for constitutional amendments.?

There is a difference between "deciding" and "persuading".
It should be clear why it is typically the woman's "decision", yet my impression is that the man is able to "persuade" (for whatever is his view), where he is showing loyalty and support to his woman.

However, what I asked about in my first post on this thread (which is on this page) is about the "proChoiceproLife" issue as a whole.
