It astounds me that the concept of global warming has such magnificent legs. That’s a news term for a storyline that captures attentions for a long, long time. Here we are in the Trump part 2 phase and it’s still a hot topic for people who don’t read the articles they post. It’s so captivating it’s not even worth reading about.

I’m open minded about it all. So open minded that l don’t even have much of an opinion about it. It’s complex stuff and there is no sense of urgency to have an opinion on it.

I already consider myself a conservationist. Clean air, clean water, parks and wildlife, l’m into it. And so are all of you. We’ve had these discussions.

It’s weird to me that global warming has become this strange sticking point to make us think that we don’t all want the same thing.

    Politics.

The science and experts will tell you we need to make some real changes to avoid serious consequences down the road

Those changes will impact certain powerful lobbies, like oil and gas

Those lobbies fund politicians that will prevent regulations and push for "free market" policies that allow the companies to continue to make money

Those politicians push views to their constituents and you get the politicization of a scientific issue

    REAL CHANGES?

Like giving the EU billions of dollars so they can down the planetary thermostat?

    You’re fucking hilarious. ?

If that’s your hang up about global warming then those things aren’t mutually exclusive. You can be pro, anti or ambivalent about global warming and not be supportive of giving money to the EU. You can be not in favor of giving money to the EU simply because you’re not in favor of giving money to the EU.

Yeah I'm very over his Google search post tantrums. All on shit that has been covered before on here. All shit he ignored then and will ignore now.

Though it is always hilarious when he posts an article he thinks backs him up and then it says the opposite

and yet, you miss the point, still.

I often post articles with both sides presented, to show your stupid

one-sided alarmist crap is complete nonsense.

You peck "the science says..." when we can easily show the science

is not conclusive, because so many scientists disagree.

You run and hide from all the facts, but you are just another one of the left-wing hacks.

It’s become crystal clear that you don’t even read the articles you post. You put so little effort into it that you don’t even know you can’t read an article, like in the OP.

It puts the rest of us in a position where it’s not worth our time to read and discuss them with you because you don’t even know what you posted. It’s not a recipe that raises the bar on intellectual discourse here.

It may be that the best you have to offer us is spam, zany antics and woodpecker memes.

“Down the road” is a very very long road. Whatever the serious consequences down the road may be, you will leave this earth unaffected , and if you’re lucky enough to find someone to make babies with , so will your kids be unaffected , and theirs.

If I understood your post correctly, you answered your own question by the two paragraphs in bold.

The reason why global warming is a sticking point is because  it is both complex and is not an urgency.

The alarmists believe doomsday is around the corner. That is not the case by a long shot.

Ignoring your timeline there being incorrect considering we're three generations out, even if I'm "unaffected" by it, why does that mean I shouldn't care?

I get the conservative mantra is generally to not care about anything that doesn't directly affect you, but I don't follow that. I get that a previous generous lived in greed and excess to leave future generations in a worse spot.

But I genuinely wouldn't want to leave future generations, including my own descendants, in a worse spot. That seems fairly simple.

I'm surprised and not surprised you took the "but it won't even affect you" angle

(Which, btw, we've seen rising see levels, hotter overall temps, increased weather events, etc)

It's also steering the Titanic. Doing nothing until doomsday is around the corner would mean it's too late.

  • Did NASA actually make a documented case that shows the direct link between man's carbon emissions and any change in Earth's worldwide temps and show what might be our projected path is we don't change?

So a lot of questions here I can expand on, but my guess is you got nothing.

Are these the studies that determined the Earth was warming by measuring asphalt surfaces in a major city?
