  • I just read where Sanders got stopped for speeding at 12:45am yesterday.  Was doing 101 mph in a 60.

Hopefully that's the biggest team headline of the summer.  However, C'mon Shedeur.  You've gotta keep it somewhere around the speed limit.  I have a Corvette.  It can go really fast.  But ya can't go really fast on public roads.  It's just not the right thing to do.  ( of course I had the vette over 100 once.  was just settling into a 'groove'.  that's when I backed it back down ).  🙂

Well I went 110 mph on my Honda VFR 800 a few years back when a pickup decided he didn't like me trying to pass and sped up to try to run me into oncoming traffic. He had no idea I could kick it into 4th and pass him in less than 2 seconds. LOL! Of course that was just a self preservation move on my part at age 64.?

  • I never was asked for my ssn, strange

And then 101.  You can’t do that in TX or CA either.

I expected Sanders to do well 7-on-7 with time to process.  The issue last year was taking too many sacks and too many “backyard ball” moments where he’s running around avoiding Slower defensive lineman and backers.  He was getting a pass for a bad offensive line but I saw a lot of issues created by his undisciplined play.  He will not avoid those guys in the Fall and he will need to process faster and let’s see if the accuracy holds when that happensz

FWIW, out of 134 teams - here's a cut and paste (below) on how well the running game did to take the pressure off their passer.  I didn't watch any Colorado games last year like you did so I appreciate your insights and observations.  I DID watch quite of their matchups in 2023 and saw many of the things you spoke of.  There were occasions when he dropped back and turned into Jerome Ford taking what should have been a short loss and turning it into a 30 yard loss.  The matchup with Oregon that year went from ugly to FUGLY in a hurry.

All that said, it's all going to boil down to how he prepares himself in tandem with what the Offensive Coaching staff wants from him.  It's gonna be all about pre-snap intellect cohesion with speed reading the progressions.  I don't question his hand-eye coordination because I really like knowing that great vision sets up great reflexes/reactions from even the dumb jock QBs like Brett Favre, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino (nobody had a quicker release), and even the most overrated QB Joe Namath.  When Brett Favre was on his 2nd team and he had to ask Ty Detmer "Ty what the Hell is the Nickel that Coach keeps talking about?"  That ain't the brightest apple in the orchard.  Good vision often leads to good reaction/reflexes.  Like Manning, Favre learned the hard way with throws he could get away with in college not being advisable at the NFL level.  Those showed up as INTs.

Brady Quinn, on the other hand, was a very SMART QB with piss poor vision.  Just because former NFL OC/Super Bowl Champion Charlie Weiss was his HC; that didn't make him the most pro ready QB that many self proclaimed draft analysts kept calling him on TV.  As helpful as WR Jeff Samardzija was to Quinn at 6-4/6-5 - locking onto 1 target so frequently turned into a bad habit he perfected at the college level. When he got to the NFL, he wasn't very good at all speed reading the progressions.  Apparently, he wasn't well trained at the Pre-Snap look of the formation either.  That's the power button of the QB's processor.  If you don't turn that on - you're not gonna be expediting the progression reads. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.  All that to say, I saw what you saw but I think a lot of that stuff can be corrected as we head toward the "we shall see..."

They have some young talent on their line…Seaton for example will be at least a second day draft pick when all is said and done.

But point taken with their run game.

When he didn’t have free rushers coming at him.  I saw a lot of holding the ball waiting for his big play guy to get open and taking some unnecessary sacks or evading 4.95 40 DL.  Mixed in with some bubble screens and quick hitters of course too.

Thank you - all good points!

It'll be interesting to see how he does getting acclimated to the speed and complexity of the NFL.  Listening to Kosar say how much he appreciated the Browns letting him watch and learn from Danielson the 1st games of his rookie year before starting his 1st game in week 7 was ideal made a lot of sense.  The Browns also had a nice strong running game with Mack & Byner contributing over 1000 apiece on the ground. The next off-season they hired Lindy Infante to assist the ball control with some spread formations and a whole lotta ways to bury zone blitzes and manipulate Safeties.

I LIKE that the Browns attempted to strengthen their running game via the draft; but it was very sad to see the soul of this team go to Houston in the process.  Anyway, I think Flacco can do what Danielson did in terms of showing Sanders/whoever at how to prepare while seeing the offense from the sideline on game day.  Those will all be good mental reps - especially when pass pro breaks down.  How did Joe handle it?  Why was it good or bad?  What were his options?

All that said, we're not gonna really know - until he's out there behind Center.

My 1st inherited car was a Dodge Dart.  I'll never forget the day I backed out of my driveway on Main Street in Fairport NY. This was on a hill that had a sign blind drive.  How ironic!   Anyway, immediately after I perfected my maneuver in reverse - my vehicle refused to move forward when I put it in drive.  Unfortunately this was on a very busy road.  Soooo, I ended up putting it in neutral while the buddy I was supposed to be driving home and my step dad assisted me with traffic while I went backward down the hill only about 100 yards or so until I turned into the first street available and went down another hill into the School of Religion parking lot.   In spite of all the fun I had in that car - that thing had 1 malfunction after another. That thing had more injuries than our offensive tackles have had in recent years.

Like you Aggies, I only bought Hondas or Nissans after that.  All I had to do to stay out of Repair Shops was change the oil as recommended.  The idea of buying American was appealing; but the reality of doing so was unaffordable.

And today I have a Honda Civic Hybrid with a 200 hp dual electric engine and my wife has a Subaru Crosstrek, both of which have extremely high reliability. BTW That VFR 800 is a motorcycle. Gave it up as I approached 70 years old. I still miss it because I rode them all my life starting age 16 on my brothers 2 speed Moped.?

I just got out of my Mercedes E350 4MATIC.  Beautiful car, excellent ride, quite, smooth.  ALWAYS breaking down.  Expensive repairs.  One week ago today, practically to the minute, I drove home with my new Mazda CX-5.  All leather seating, Heads Up Display, heated and ventilated power front seats.  Heated rear seats.  Heated steering wheel, Nav., Bose speakers all over the place, adaptive headlights  (GREAT for turning in my dark neighborhood), 360 cameras, adaptive radar cruise control, yaadda, yadda.  Right now I'm in the middle of giving it the full Zaino Show Car Polish treatment.  (same stuff I use on the vette)  The Mazda has a 187 hp motor and it has Normal - Sport - Offroad modes.  OKAY?!  187 hp Sport Mode  LOL

I traded in my 10 year old Mercedes Turbo 4 CLA 250 for the Honda Hybrid last fall. Never had a problem with it, but my trusted mechanic had told me if it made it 10 years with less than 100,000, get rid of it before it became a costly money eater. I had 88,000 on it and got $15,000 plus on the trade in. I was happy. I told them they could truthfully say on resale it was owned by a doddering 77 year old man. ? Never told them how much I loved to floor that turbo.?

BABOOMBA!  Sounds like you always have NICE rides.  Why not though?  You worked hard.  My wife's brother (great guy) used to work at GM and he got my wife what sounded like a great deal on the family plan when she purchased a Pontiac Grand Am.  Great looking car.  My best friend who drove nothing but Pontiacs gave her a huge bear hug and said maybe we can finally get your husband up to speed.  Don't you know in the 31 years we've been married that car had more problems than the Dodge Dart I was complaining about.

I had 51K miles.  3 coil packs went on it (1 at a time).  Water pump went.  Engine seal oil leak.  This February I'm on my way home and hear a clunking when going over bumps so I swing by my mechanic's shop.  He knew right away.  Rear sub-frame rotted away.  He told me to have it flat bedded to the dealership.  He's said that he's sent about 20 cars there.  Mercedes started covering the issue in 2023, days before the class action suite was to occur.  They had my car for 4 days.

It certainly does doesn't it.  But that's only recently.  This is only my 2nd ever new car.  (the first was the 2000 vette)  Most of my life was spent with used cars in varying degrees of 'used-up-ness'.  🙂  Though I always preferred to have a Camaro if I could.

Damn! I sure was lucky with mine. It was built in the Chech Republic. And thank goodness my trusty mechanic told me to get a Honda, Toyota or Subaru. She loves hers and I certainly love mine. I never even put it in Sport mode or even normal. It has plenty of horses in Econ mode. Makes those Prius things look like sloths. ?

I had 51K miles.  3 coil packs went on it (1 at a time).  Water pump went.  Engine seal oil leak.  This February I'm on my way home and hear a clunking when going over bumps so I swing by my mechanic's shop.  He knew right away.  Rear sub-frame rotted away.  He told me to have it flat bedded to the dealership.  He's said that he's sent about 20 cars there.  Mercedes started covering the issue in 2023, days before the class action suite was to occur.  They had my car for 4 days.

Mine was built in Stuttgart Germany.  A company I used to manage shipping for had their largest international distributor located in Stuttgart.

Still have the first car I bought stateside '97 Civic Lx manual. It always invites questions parked next to a M3 and X5 at home. Still drives well, can easily hit 80 mph and taught all my kids to drive stick on it (even my daughter). They'd kick and scream about learning stick but now thank me for it as none of their friends can borrow their cars lol.
