  • With the 5th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Cade Klubnick, QB, Clemson.

As much as I'm hoping we're not going to have a miserable 2025 season to the extent of drafting the best QB for our draft slot - I'm starting to change my mind a little about Cade Klubnik.  I watched two 30 minute ACC previews just recently for Clemson and Va Tech.  Yeah, life was that exciting.  Anyway, it showed some things that lead me to believe this Klubnik will have a great season this year. I Googled up an AI overview that mentioned much of what I learned and here's a cut and paste of that:

Cade Klubnik will have a talented and experienced group of wide receivers to throw to in 2025. Specifically, he is expected to be throwing to Bryant Wesco Jr. and T.J. Moore. These two wide receivers had over 600 receiving yards each and combined for 21 touchdown catches in the previous season (2024). Klubnik's return and their presence is anticipated to bolster the Clemson offense.  Additionally, Antonio Williams is also mentioned as returning to the Clemson receiving corps in 2025.

It's also worth noting that the Clemson depth chart lists several wide receivers, including Tyler Brown, Misun Kelley, Juju Preston, Tristan Martinez, Chase Byrd, Tristan Smith, Parker Fulghum, Clark Sanderson, Sammy Earle, and Clay Swinney, but the sources specifically highlight the experience of Wesco and Moore.

    Stay tuned...

  • I’m also interested in keeping an eye on Nussmeier from LSU and Sellers from South Carolina. Plus, maybe Allar makes the jump he needs to make.

Nuss caught a bit of my eye this off-season. I think it was a great move by him returning for another year.

  • So the above video gives five QBs the Browns could look at with one of their first rounders next draft (and guys we can watch in the upcoming college season).

    He ranks them:

    5. Allar, Penn State
    4. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana (who honestly I know nothing about, he transferred from Cal to Indiana for this coming season)
    3. Klubnick, Clemson
    2. Nussmeier, LSU
    1. Sellers , South Carolina

I'm making a point of going to the A&M-S. Carolina game in College Station in Nov. We owe them a knockout of their QB for a cheap shot, knee busting hit on our best RB as he was stepping out of bounds in the game there last year. He was the heart of our run heavy offense and we fell apart the rest of the season. Just could not replace him, so maybe we can blow up the heart of their offense as a return favor to them this year.

  • Well Cleveland already drafted another Aggie. But I posted it on the baseball board.?⚾

I like the Top 2 on this list.

Im watching Leavitt from ASU too.

And rest assured he will be more like Garrett to baseball than he will be like JFF. He had horrible luck this year with 2 great hitters off by injuries so that they preferred walking or hitting him to actually throwing strikes. And the weather was horrible for games in Feb & March with high winds blowing in and cold taking the edge off well hit balls. I bet I saw 15 to 20 balls during those two months that normally would have easily cleared the fence but were either caught at the wall or just barely over the top, but caught since outfielders play him deep. He is also quite fast so center field is his ideal position. It will be fun to watch him break in with Cleveland.

  • And Cleveland got A&M's best pitcher in the 9th round, Lefty Ryan Prager. Another who will first spend time in AA or AAA before eventual move to the Bigs.

And eventually out of town to greener pastures.. For a bag of peanuts and a bench player to be named later

  •  I've been granted access to all-22 for certain teams from this past 2024 season.  It's a gift and I'm incredibly grateful for it, I just wish I had this sort of hook up 10 years ago.  The information you gather with this one tool is incredible.           Anywho... of those teams I have extensive footage on is Clemson and the other Texas.

I have every single Clemson game of Klubnik and all 3 of Arch's games.

Dove head first into the Klubnik against Georgia game.      Kid needs a ton of work - he's closer to being Matt Corral than he is Baker Mayfield.   Clemsons offense structures also weren't all that impressive,   but what was there wasn't taken full advantage of either.    It was a mental, physical and schematic ass kicking from start to finish.

Then I noticed a trend of losses over the course of two seasons and ran some numbers.   Cade Klubnik has beaten exactly ONE top 15 defense in his entire career - Notre Dame in 2023.  A game where Cade threw for a staggering 109 yards, Sam Hartman tossed two INT's and Phil Mafah, now with the Cowboys, had 36 carries for 186 yards.

     Beyond that? Let's check 2023.

    Duke - Loss

    Florida State - Loss

    Miami - Loss

    NC State - Loss

    2024

    Georgia - Big Loss

Louisville and their 64th total defense - Loss

    South Carolina - Loss

I can't imagine any professional in the Browns organization looking ahead to their prep work for 2026 by position and just gushing over Klubnik.   Statistically, his profile is closer to Johnny Manziel's than his predecessors in Watson and Lawrence.    (Manziel also had one win against a top 25 defense his entire career, the other was against a Duke team just inside the top 50)

If leadership, "winner", "gamer" whatever are the preferred terms you like when evaluating a QB, I struggle to see how you'd like this kid.

Me too.  I saw him one time last year when his pass pro was breaking down all over the place; and he was incredible at maintaining his poise and escaping the pressure, Even better, he still managed to complete the passes or run for 1st downs.

1 very important trend as it relates to Clemson - when Kirby Smart arrived at UGA they started winning those post season games that previously alluded them. Consequently, Kirby started getting more of the top prospects in GA to join his football program at UGA.  Dabo Swinney/Clemson used get a lot of those recruits. As we've seen, Clemson hasn't been that same program that was a legit BCS team who could win it all.  I think they made the playoffs last year - but their chances of winning it all weren't any better than SMU's or Boise State's in a much bigger playoff pool.

This looks to be the best/most experienced group of Receivers Klubnik will be throwing to. Even better, they've already established their chemistry with Klub to build on in 2025.  Should be interesting... I've been critical of him too before this thread. If he needs to be an NFL Franchise messiah for an impatient owner like Jimmy - is he wired for that?   Just a reminder here, Cleveland has rarely had healthy/starting offensive tackles in recent years.  When anyone chooses to watch Klubnik - hopefully it will be matchups that can put heat on a passer to give you an idea of how he could handle NFL life in Cleveland.  Like you pointed out above with the defenses faced - will the ACC have enough of these defenses to challenge him?

  • With two potential top ten picks, I'll be glued to the tube this college season watching potential Browns players in all different position groups. Browns will have needs everywhere.

Clemson looks loaded, has quite a few potential first rounders.

And what the hell is a Dabo?
