Is woody trying to say this didn't happen in KC?

Well its all over the internet.. And people in KC are complaining about it..

  • Oh, so his attacking the source just meant he had no intelligent response?

  • There probably is something wrong with it. Haven't looked into it. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a lack of funding. Who knows

The more hilarious/concerning thing here, to me, is that Nickers frequents gateway pundit. Though I guess it isn't that surprising.

We really needed to teach old folks Internet media literacy before letting them run wild on the Internet

  • "Due to these factors, it’s no wonder Sun Fresh Market is now on the verge of closing despite receiving millions in taxpayer funding."

    Hmm, try again boy wonder.

Whatever the reason is, doesn't matter, the point is it didn't work.

Do you like the idea of gov't controlled grocery stores?

  • Again, I'd defer to local reporting, or at least much less biased reporting. Quick reading shows millions for the shopping center, and a delay in getting funding to the grocery store. Probably also some incompetence involved, like in most everything. One example in one spot isn't proof of something not working. Though I know conservatives love just running with singular anecdotes.

Food deserts are a real thing. Capitalism isn't perfect. Far from it. Leaving it up to capitalism you get low income neighborhoods without access to fresh foods/grocery stores and just fast food/convenience stores. I think government run or government subsidized grocery stores in these food desert areas makes sense.

    gov owned grocery stores...nope.

America Has Plenty of Experience With Government-Run Stores, and It Isn't Pretty

New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani wants to open city-owned grocery stores. The U.S. already has a few, and they're a cautionary tale.

No unlike you... I don't follow anything or anyone.. I don't do "Subscriptions" to anything because my $$'s are better spent elsewhere.. I couldn't care less about the "Gateway Pundit" or any other outlet for that matter..

  • Jun 24, 2025Zohran Mamdani claims his city-run supermarket proposal would lower prices, but small-business owners and their customers see it as a dubious and costly proposition.

What exactly do I follow or pay a subscription to?

Regardless of what you do or don't follow, you should recognize the biased trash gateway pundit is. But then again, that's kind of the point. These sites exist just to regurgitate ideas you already believe back to you. You may not be a "follower" of gateway pundit but you found it, read it, and shared it for a reason.

  • I read the article in the OP earlier this morning, and l had more questions than anything. I’m far removed from Kansas City and l wasn’t aware state run grocery stores was a thing or how this came to be. I found this helpful.

    https://showmeinstitute.org/blog/subsidies/sun-freshs-struggles-were-predictableand-predicted/

Apparently it was an attempt to fill a perceived need in an underserved community (aka poor community) in an attempt to spark some urban renewal, basically hoping others would invest in the area around it with a shiny new grocery store.

It stands to reason that if an actual grocery store that does this sort of thing for a living can’t make it work, they won’t be able to make it work either.

You led with "unlink you" in your last post.

But we've been down this path before. You seem to immediately forget what you just posted. Or you have lost all reading comprehension ability. Regardless, you seem to get lost like this constantly.

I sincerely mean this but I think you're one of the dumbest individuals I've even "met".

If you want to use gateway pundit as a legitimate source that speaks more about you and your media literacy abilities than anything else.

The argument then becomes it should be done more as a public good, to alleviate a food desert, than it should be to "make a profit". In my first post, that our MAGA reactionaries didn't read, I mentioned how capitalism isn't going to solve issues like this. It's our government's job to step up in those instances

and he never has sources for his asinine allegations. Woodpecker just pecks out of not being able to intelligently discuss any issue.

All the while he insinuates people are "dumb".. Yet he has no self awareness of his own stupidity.. I'm still waiting for him to find one instance where Socialism has worked and he can't because Socialism fails everywhere it has been tried.... While Capitalism isn't perfect.. (No one system is).. It is still far and away the best platform to run a general society/Govt. on.... Socialism WILL NEVER WORK because people love to own what they work hard for... Taxing rich white billionaires isn't the answer either.. I'm all for giving them a break since they provide the Jobs, The Pay checks and the resources for us common humans to live our daily lives... And of course the health insurances paid for by them!.. His arrogance will be his own demise...

Maybe? Access to good healthy food is a concern l have too, especially for underserved communities, but there are different ways to get to that goal. It’s partially why l liked RFK Jr. last year. He’s definitely a quirky guy but he seemed committed to cleaning up the food supply and making it accessible.

The link l shared indicated there’s already a couple other grocery stores in the community. I don’t know the area so l don’t know how close they actually are, but supply and demand is always going to be an important factor.
