What happened on the fail conversion after the first td?

DTR looking like DTR
DTR looking like DTR
Amazing this time two years ago we thought we had the steal of the draft- he looked awful.
one thing I saw from Gabriel that I really liked was staying in a clean pocket. He really stood in there on a few plays and made good throws as a result
also, that pick six is maybe 30% on DG. That TE went totally brain dead for some reason, but also should have thrown that away.

Gabriel looked okay... He did some things he can build on... But it's clear Sanders is the better QB at this point... Id still roll with Flacco until we can't.. That first pick I can't fault Gabriel entirely... The tight end short armed the ball... Tyler Huntley?... Why is he even here?... Lifelong back up...

I thought Dillion looked really solid, no pre snap penalties everyone was lined up where they were supposed to be and he moved the offense down the field, as far as that pick it was stupid as hell ( call it a learning experience) he should have thrown the ball away, Snoop ? wtf dude ? we needed another arm both pickett and dillion had hammy's

Bad snap.
Gabriel did really well. Until he didn't. He didn't get the ball handed off to the RB. ( also, Strong wasn't watching for it ) The INT, he threw it at 2 of our guys...and neither one of 'em had the wherewithal to make a play for it. The TE looked totally confused. He knew that the 2 receivers weren't supposed to be next to each other...so he may not have been at fault.....but he was at fault for taking his eye off the QB. He had to know by then that Gabriel was looking for somebody to throw it to.
I'll say this, Gabriel does get the ball out on time...when it's there. So, he did well for his 1st live action of the year. The fumble has to be on him (mostly, but Strong could've saved the play by making sure he get's the dang thing)....and he probably shouldn't have thrown the ball that was picked. He's got stuff to learn from.
RB Marshall didn't do badly. Strong had a nice long run through a wide hole.
Kevin Davis #89 had a good game. #84 Lavardian had a good game. Thrash had a good game. Tillman had a catch or two.
#22 got away with pass interference at the end of the game. That was a bad no call. He got up and looked straight at the official like, You're not calling me for that?
The D did a nice job.
I think it was quite a positive week for the Browns against the super bowl champs. They supposedly did well against them in practice. Coming off of a 3-14 season they've got nothing to have a big head about.....but, they can take some pride with them into next week, the final push to get ready for the regular season. And for many, a final week to show that you're good enough to be on the 53.

yep, I thought Gabriel did a real nice job, some really great throws, a lot of zip and really accurate - the placement was perfect. The int - the defender was hiding between the two on the diagonal throw... (yes, not supposed to be at the same place), and jumped on it. I don't fault Gabriel much - didn't see the defender.
The rb's looked pretty tough, ran hard. The defense - the run defense is going to be excellent, I think. But it's preseason.
I'm fine with Huntley and twatson not making the final roster. That leaves Flacco, Pickett, Sanders and Gabriel.
Gabriel took a sack, but the blocking was horrendous on that side.
The Eagles were a lot tougher test - look at what they did last season. The Panthers were no match.
But it's preseason, whatever. Can't wait to watch the defense, with Graham and Garrett playing.

I had to work today and missed all but Gabriel's last drive. Looked like he could've gotten a lot of (or even just a little) help from the tight end on the pick 6. I didn't really think Gabriel was an NFL talent, but he did look decent climbing the pocket.

Ball placement/accuracy was impressive. He threw a 10 yard out across the field just past a defender and over a tall defensive end. The kind of throw that scouts said he could struggle with. I didn’t see any throws downfield but I was impressed by Gabriel taking what the defense gave him and being quick and decisive. It was a very good start

He's got a lot of years of college level experience...perhaps that didn't hurt him any.

That's a huge plus for him. The irony of this whole thing pre-draft was I posted a list of least talked about faves I had and he was one of the only QB prospects I listed (despite the reality I don't often want step-stool QBs). The only great QB under 6' that I can recall in recent years is Russell Wilson. Then there's the 6' guys like Joe Theismann, Drew Brees and Billy Kilmer that were too few and far between. Theismann's Pro Football career started in the CFL for Toronto. Drew Brees did so bad in his 1st 3 years that SD drafted a QB with their 1st pick overall heading into Brees' 4th season. Lucky for him, Philip Rivers held out for the length of training camp and Brees made his 1st of many Pro Bowls to follow. I'll bet a lot of the early struggles had to do with adjusting to seeing the field. Coincidentally, it's no secret the Chargers also drafted a Center that snapped in the shotgun at Purdue (Nick Hardwick) a high percentage of the time. Same college Brees attended. When you put a QB in the shot-gun, 1 of the advantages you give him pre-snap is better peripheral vision. As small as something like this may seem, it can really help a QB that knows every primary route his guys on the perimeter have. Seeing what leverages the DBs have pre-snap can assist him with prompt throws to receivers that have to adjust their routes. All that didn't happen overnight even for a guy with his football IQ.
There's so much to learn for young QBs today so getting to start for 3 different college football teams has me thinking that will expedite his learning. I'm glad he played well yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time to read how he did in the scrimmages with Philly during the week. I want BOTH of rookies to play well enough to make it a tough decision on what 1 they would need if Flacco got hurt. Even though 1 guy got drafted 1st, JMO - a HUGE part of that was because they were snubbing Deion like every other team that needed to draft a rookie QB was doing (because of previous comments of teams he didn't want his son playing for sabotaging the crap out of when Shedeur got drafted). All dust in the wind now - Gabriel and Sanders are here competing with 1st performances reflecting their determination to succeed...

You bet. And I see a lot of time on the field besides STs.
It sounds like he's had a good TC. It could come down to him or Kaden Davis. I'd be fine with either because they can both play STs,

I'm betting they both make the 53.
That might be a smart bet Aggies!
Would it suck if one of these guys became what Josh Cribbs was here or Steve Tasker was in Buffalo Or Julian Edleman was in NE? Yeah, one showed to his team as a WR while the other 2 showed up as QBs that rushed for a lot of yardage in college. Point is - this is an ideal opportunity to everyone you can be a game changer. Tasker didn't just block punts/place kicks - he was also the guy that would lined up outside on punt coverage with 1 or 2 guys trying to press him at the LOS. He was an animal despite his frame. They didn't even care if he ever panned out at WR mainly because they already had Andre Reed, James Lofton, Don Beebe (rumored to run in the 4.3s at Chadron State). Point is - Tasker was a 9th round pick out of Northwestern that was 5'9" tall weighing 180 lbs. He wasn't supposed to be significant; but his passion earned him 7 Pro Bowls. When we're looking at guys competing for one of the last WR, RB or DB spots - you never know what they can contribute overall here. This will be interesting...

I'm betting they both make the 53.
If we keep 4 QB's then there's only 49 spots left.

The ESPN Show with Unsportsmanlike with former NFL player Chris Canty has Canty making a big deal about Dillon Gabriel's comment about being a competitor instead of an entertainer. Canty is making it out to be a dig at Shedeur when Gabriel clarified in the post game interview it wasn't about Sanders at all. Media wouldn't try to do such a thing would they? ?
