you are sticking up the forum again. The subject is BURNING SYMBOLIC FLAGS just to incite unrest and deliberately anger/offend a lot of people.
You can't legally yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater. You can't incite to riot.
No similarities anything. Do you condemn that person going to prison for years for burning a gay flag? or not?
Again, you are proving what I say is true - you lefties pick and choose when free speech is allowed. That is extremely wrong. Do you think it's funny to be so stupid in your posts?

Jun 13, 2025The urgent constitutional test we now face is defining the razor-thin line between protected advocacy and prosecutable incitement. If a group funds, organizes, or directs actions that predictably erupt into violence, should they be protected by the Constitution… or prosecuted under it?you are sticking up the forum again. I had no expectation for you to calmly and logically follow this.
Again, your argument to make flag burning illegal is that, if done in front of vets, it's comparable to inciting a riot.
You're basically saying any speech in front of a group that wouldn't like they speech is illegal, because it could incite a riot.
It's the same things as a homophobic conservative protesting a gay pride parade, as it could incite a riot.

This thread is just the perfect example of posters that have actual, ideological principles.... And posters without spines that flip flop their argument constantly based on what their party says. Constant mental gymnastics

this will keep going til you are able to pull out a jew hate reference ... of which im not surprised because it cant fit into the box you are thinking out of.
regarding violence - heres my agreement to its agency
"A harmless man is not a good man. A good man is a very very dangerous man who has that (violent response) under voluntary control." Jordan Peterson
do you think that the Marxists hiding in plain sight are using the flag burning protection bullshit to incite peace?
so go back to my first response ^ and fuck off with comparisons to your own bigotry
"Talk shit, get hit," is your mantra when it applies to things you are offended by. When different people apply it to things they are offended by, you come up with mental gymnastics to show how your case is different. The first amendment exists to keep us from turning into a nanny state like our friends in Europe who agree with you on flag burning. And, on top of all this, you live in St. Paul! For all your tough guy talk in this thread, where were you when BLM was burning the flag in the George Floyd riots? Didn't see you beating the shit out of any rioting Marxists then.

I can tell your rattled, calm down. Let's review shall we? I said (to use your words) -Do shit / get hit. Not talk shit / get hit... LIKE Burn the flag / poke the bear FAFO etc. I added kick the shit out of the perp. My choice to a consequence right? I'm aware of that. So what part of all this doesnt answer your poll question ? BTW George Floyd reference makes it 3 times now that you tried to pin a bigoted example to my character so again I say fuck off with that.

Let's try this again with Jax's example. Would you find it acceptable if someone burns a pride rainbow flag, and an offended Marxist beats the shit out of him?

I'd only refer to his post of which I responded with the "TY" symbol because my response was not equal to your example of a beheading. Not unusual for a radical muslim but certainly for US flag loving persons like many of us, there is no equity. And this here pitting burning a pride flag with a vengeful marxist. I don't know what you want other than to perhaps be led into some kind of gotcha. Im having trouble identifying these 2 sides in my mind as having anything to do with me.

That's exactly my point. The first amendment doesn't and shouldn't just apply to you. It applies to everyone, with whatever offensive opinions or statements they make. Trump banning the burning of any specific flag would be a violation of 1A. And if the government makes an exception to do it for one cause (such as the American flag), there's not a lot stopping them from making an exception for other causes when other groups have that power (Muslims and the Quran, liberals and the pride flag, etc). The moment it doesn't apply to certain opinions is the moment it becomes worthless.

It gets abused by every group in power and becomes a race to the bottom.
some other groups already have that power, regardless of it's legal validity. So, all "hate speech" is ok with you? all fine - all 1st Amendment? Terrorist threats? Death threats? Where do YOU draw the line, if there is one?
Are you ok with that guy getting 15 years for burning a gay flag?
Let's try to differentiate between outrageous, intimidating/angering actions designed for that purpose, and honest speech someone doesn't like/finds offensive.

SCOTUS has clearly defined the limit of 1A with speech "directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." That's where I draw the line.
Are you ok with that guy getting 15 years for burning a gay flag?
Nope. That punishment is a clear violation of 1A, imo. This is why I can't stand "hate speech" being used as justification to shut people up.

Something being outrageous or causing anger isn't illegal. Intimidation falls outside of 1A only when a true threat is attached to it.

How dare you even compare gay pride in the same breath as the American flag or Christianity for that matter... In case it hasn't dawned on you... America was founded on Christian principles.. Not gay shit!... You are one sick fucking lunatic... You belong in an insane asylum.. stick to sports... Your out of your lane here..
So the comparison is completely lose on you. Got it.

How lame!... You are an asshole of the lowest common species..

I voted no. At the end of the day it’s an innocuous act that’s meant to be an attention getter and a conversation starter. So l see you’re upset with America. Tell me all about it.
With pretty much everything l try to look past the act to the motivations behind the act. If someone is fired up enough to burn our flag in public view, they are obviously looking to be seen and heard. If they don’t get seen or heard, they’re liable to step up their game and get our attention in other ways. Flying a plane into a building? Setting off a bomb? Driving a truck through a crowd? Shooting a gun in to a crowd?
We’ve witnessed those things, and I’ll take a burning flag 10 outta 10 times over those things. As weird as it sounds, it’s a positive in two ways. 1) we care enough as a nation that it upsets us enough that we are even having this conversation, and 2) we have thick enough skin to allow it because we can absorb people blowing off steam without losing our shit over it and escalating it further.

So, yelling "FIRE" in a crowded theater to deliberately induce panic is "free speech" because it isn't like flying a plane into a building? wow.

That argument was shot down on the first page Calf. Burning the flag will chap some asses, that’s basically the intent.
How chapped do you want your ass to be? Well that’s up to you, it’s your ass. You can absolutely let it chap your ass raw if you’re a thin skinned ninny.
But luckily for you thin skinned ninnies, you get to share a country with some thicker skinned individuals who aren’t so easily fazed.
It’s entirely possible to not like something without melting down over it to the point you’re begging for government intervention.

There is no chapping on me. I just let you know your rambling is weird and makes no sense.

When its all said and done i think the President knows it’ll be shot down, but it should add some discomfort to the losers who would love to cause trouble and sow discontent among other losers.

Yeah, maybe. It’s a fascist-like move anyway. Demand loyalty to the flag. If it truly means something then us rank and file folks will make it mean something. If the government needs to demand it, that’s a red flag man.

Your a weird dude….how you turn something patriotic into a fascist -like move just shows how far left of center your mindset really is.

You’re a little weird yourself bub. To me patriotism should be a “want to” thing rather than a “have to” thing. You might see it differently.
Edit: You suck at compound words. We have to be around the same age, how have you not figured that out by now? MC Hammer hasn’t been relevant since the 90s. Just squeeze the two words together and replace the missing letter with an apostrophe. You are = you’re.
