Don't worry about the neighbors Nicks - you can't hold that talent hostage.  They'll get over it!

Interesting. A lot of fans are wondering if Rees is going to be fired like Ken Dorsey was.

Stepanski is boring, and doesn't have the instincts to fool defenses. We'll see if the offense production gets upgraded. It will be tough with the offensive line not being up to par. NOBODY is talking about trick plays. It's a matter of play design, and play calling to keep defenses guessing.

    Tillman will be back, apparently.

Fans all said the same thing about Browns coach giving up play-calling

Meanwhile, oh, look, a film breakdown!

I'm done with Stefanski TBH. His offensive design schemes are outdated and unimaginative in today's NFL. Looks like he was propped up by AVP and Callahan as offense dropped off a cliff with their exits.

I'll say it this way- for a guy who is considered an offensive minded HC to do this twice in two years is hard to just shoo away as 'trying something out'. Talent level or not, it's pretty wonky.

  • Funniest thing about it all. The best Cleveland has ever looked, came in their only Playoff Win in forever... BTW that game Stephanski what watching the game from his basement with covid.

Oh how people forget the D did far more in that game (or frankly Ben/PIt to lose.that game) than the offense did.  Not like the D scored a TD and gave the O a short field for 3 more scores in the first quarter alone....

Even so - it was a great TEAM win.   FWIW, the score was 48-29 as late as 1:09 remaining in the 4th quarter until a junk time Prevent Defense TD + 2 point conversion was allowed.  Most of the alleged GREAT Steeler fans were already on the highway heading home.

Anyway, the 1st TD of the game was a bad shot-gun snap in the end zone that Myles Garrett recovered on the 1st play from scrimmage after the opening kickoff.  What set that situation up was bad field position from STs. Baker didn't throw any INTs while Ben Rapen threw 4 INTs (some were deflected passes by our DL).  Whether it was short fields or long sustained drives - this offense scored 5 TDs and set up 2 successful FGs.  Seemed like every time they got the football - they punctuated it with points.  We were never so organized and less challenged by Pittsburgh in recent memory.

Our replacement HC that day was the STs Coach Mike Priefer while Alex Van Pelt upgraded the Offensive Coordination.  No wonder why they couldn't wait to get rid of both guys not too long after scoring 48 FREAKIN points at Pittsburgh.

The weirdest part of all this IMO is that Stefanski applied for the HC position here really only wanting to be the OC calling the plays.

back in hs, I was a stat guy with a friend for football. It was as close to the game I could get. Every play, we'd write down the formation, the play, player numbers, result of the play. It got so I could predict what they were going to run by how they lined up, and the stances of the offense - qb/rb/ot.

Stepanski's offense seems like that. But it is worse - the drafting for offense.

Look at the first round draft picks for offense.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cleveland_Browns_first-round_draft_picks

2020 - Jedrick Wills, OT, blah.

2018 - Baker Mayfield, but should have drafted my pick, Josh Allen

2017 - David Njoku, who took years to be a dependable ball catcher. duh.

2016 - Cory Coleman, midget wr.....

The Giants released Corey Coleman, providing proof once and for all what a mistake his selection was for the Cleveland Browns.

2015 - Cameron Irving, C. Injury prone throughout his career, floated from team to team, position to position. nope.
2014 - Johnny Manziel. dammit, how stupid a pick that was.
2012 - Brandon Weedon. another dismal mistake.
2012 - Trent Richardson, considered one of the biggest draft busts in history
    2019 - Alex Mack, C, a star

Hardly a way to build a dynamic offense. Then there is the play calling. Your offensive line is struggling, getting overrun by the Pats defense and you call a flea-flicker? etc etc.

What is really hopeless, is the Browns offensive line, which is not helped by stepanski's inability to adapt to what is going on in a game....

    #32 Browns offensive line.
per ESPN, Browns wide receivers - 25th in the NFL.

This 1st round pick is tied directly to the Stefanski coaching staff and is a weight on the current roster still being felt.

Alex Mack was drafted in 2009. A full decade before your comment.  He was in Atlanta 4 seasons before Stef became head coach in Cleveland.

Question- when the coaching staff designs a game plan around high percentage 3 and 5 step drop passes, to get the QB in rhythm and to help ease the burden on pass protection, yet the QB fails to consistently complete them as called, whose fault is it?

wow. you figured that out? cool. The rest of us knew that automatically.

    Question:

When an offensive line is rated last in the NFL, is it the qb's fault? or your honey stupanski?

I say your sweetheart stupanski will get fired.

Flacco struggled terribly with the Browns, but is really playing well with the Bengals.

Your stupanski had Baker playing with a stupid sling on his shoulder. Is that Baker's fault or stupanski's fault?

Alex Mack was on the list. So, I listed Alex Mack because he was on the list.

Overall, their picks have been poor. And stupanski doesn't have the smarts to use the offense's strengths, what there are, to a constructive advantage.

Would you have played Baker with a sling on his shoulder?

    wow.

That only furthers confusion over a medium that can lacks things in normal conversation like tonality and body language, which help to clarify confusions in conversations.
