Shedeur Sanders

also another week with the ones and more of a game plan for sanders also
Sanders played a kind of a nice game his first start. I see, imho, a few problems he has to overcome despite that - a bit of a mental clock problem, and a little bit of lead feet until he gets going. With experience, if he can get past those, it will be interesting, but watching him a lot in college, it was there, too. We all hope he shows improvement. Fannin is now the #1 TE per their depth chart - no surprise here. He had 4 catches, 40 yards, ran the ball once for 4 yards. He's an amazing, smart guy.

what I liked from last week, Was he stepped up in the pocket and threw the ball away if need be and only took one sack

OBR's take on what is possible for this long suffering franchise.

Yeah, that sums it up nicely: Still the most likely scenario is us trying to draft Mendoza...but Sanders has a chance to change that.

Again, this isn't just my opinion - many of the draft analysts (including McShay for quite a while & Kiper) plus the 2 draft mags I purchased all had Sanders as a 1st round QB from a talent standpoint, amount of starting experience, accuracy throwing depicted in his #1 comp % in college football. Not only that, his OC at Colorado was an OC & HC in the NFL (Pat Shurmur) dating back to when he was the OC of the top scoring offense in Philly.
The major worry/flaw beside the tendency to hold onto the ball too long and get sacked was his dad. When he did the Super Bowl rounds telling people he didn't want his son to play for certain types of teams - guess what types of teams needed to draft a QB? That sabotaged his son's draft status IMO but I know a lot of people shared this thinking...
I would be ECSTATIC if Sanders got the chance to be the QB he is capable of becoming. We've seen some good signs while we understand the work to be done needs to continue 1 week at a time.
My dream is for us to not need to draft a QB (EVEN MENDOZA) so we can draft the obvious things we need.

Could you imagine the absolute zoo it would be here if Deion Sanders was named head coach?
It would soooooo be a Jimmy Haslam move.

Oh my! It so would wouldn't it. Now I'll be waking up some night in the middle of that nightmare.

One of the local guys yesterday on The Fan suggested the idea - because he thought it would totally be something Jimmy would do - and now I randomly break out in a cold sweat anytime I think about it. ?

? Are you saying it hasn't been one?
Tell you what - he'd be our best punt return man right now if Jimmy hired him as a Head Coach & Player Coach.

This might be my favorite thread this year. Just when I thought nothing could be more outrageous than Jerry's Palace in Dallas - Jimmy gets a wild hair up his ass that he wants Deion stylin more gold on the sideline than any of the local jewelry stores have combined.
Stay tuned? If ya haven't lost us yet - you ain't gonna...

Well hey... Ray Horton had 2 separate stints here... Nothing would surprise me... Anything is possible , right?
BINGO! Anything is possible Nicks! We've seen it all since in our lifetime as fans. ?
That was a "Were we sure he was really that bad? Let's dot the i here and rehire him to make sure he really stunk."
They did! He did! Lucky us!
I'm the knucklehead that brought him up in this thread. This was only to illustrate Shedeur's OC in college had some success as an NFL OC; so that's not the worst person for a QB preparing to play in the NFL to learn from in his last 2 years of college football.
Having said that, I still haven't forgiven Shurmur for punting the football on 4th and 1 at the Colts 38 yard line midway through the 4th quarter down by 13 or 14 points. This was against the 31st ranked run D. So... Of course the Browns punted it into the end zone for a touchback. Was there ever any doubt?
If we ever want to try a previous Coach here - Brian Daboll was the guy that developed Josh Allen in Buffalo. He never had the same fortune with the Giants in his next gig. That said, Tommy Rees hasn't done bad with him UNLESS that 2 point conversion without Shedeur on the field was his idea.

Funny you mention the 4th and 1 punt... I see so much similarity in Shurmur and Kevin... Or am I reaching here?

I find it interesting that the same people who complain that Stefanski “isn’t manly enough” are also the same people who complain about him being too aggressive.
It’s also why I get amused by all the love by some people on here Dan Campbell gets.

Just the reality that Stefansky goes for it on 4th down as frequently as he does on both sides of the 50 - I'll say it's a reach.
Having said that, watching the 2 point conversion play out - it looked like they practiced the new play a grand total of 1 time if that. A play they've never run live. Even worse, why take Sanders off the field?
That WildDawg formation with Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown was successful back in 2008; but it didn't take long for that stuff to fizzle out within the next couple years or so. But here we were with a young QB having his best day; only to see the coaching staff showing they didn't trust him enough to keep him out there for the 2 point conversion attempt. Huge headscratcher with so many better alternatives to what they chose to do. From a guy that was reluctant to race Stefansky out here - he finally got stale on me this year.
