Interesting because Walter Football predicts Downs is chosen at #5 to the Giants.

Wouldn’t surprise me…He’s arguably the best defensive talent in the draft.  Gold jacket all pro potential.

They also say Proctor from Alabama is the best OT in this draft and have the Browns picking him next at #6.

With all eyes on Mendoza, I wanted to know what makes the machine go.

    His LT - Carter Smith

    His C - Pat Coogan

    Really standing out to me.

Proctor, at least in my early viewings, suffers from the same symptoms the majority of Bama LTs before him (Leatherwood, Neal, Jonah Williams, Cam Robinson )  did.

He's a large body with incredibly heavy feet.   Sadly there's a lot of history working against him.

  • Anyway, thank you Buffalo for giving us a higher draft pick.

EDIT: In fact that gives us either #21 or #22 depending upon whether NE wins or loses. We are now rooting for the Chargers to upset them.

The portal makes it go. The HC too and coordinator retention.

too bad we can’t throw cash around then again we may run into the next Jack soft tissue Conklin

Who said Proctor is the best LT?  Have you seen him move laterally yet?  He'll be an OG in the NFL. He's the next Nate Newton, which isn't a bad thing at all in terms of run blocking (and having a teammate to his right and left).

Nope, neither guy can play LT so the 2 RTs you mentioned are not in play for me at #6.  I'm not budging.  The limited supply for a big demand of LTs will be done by the time we make our 2nd 1st round pick.  If you want to evaluate our young QB or next victim - you can't sentence them to the crap at LT and RT the Browns ended the year with.  Inexcusable and unacceptable.

We're gonna agree to disagree here and that's okay.  If, for some reason I'm wrong and the run on LTs has not begun yet at #6 overall (totally possible) - I don't mind trading back a little. There's a guy that plays LT for Indiana  (Carter Smith) not getting the mock draft popularity RTs like Fano and Mauigoa are getting. Here's a cut and paste and maybe we CAN get this guy at the end of round 1 or in round 2.

    image.png.afaf1ff82b6dee15160229d1e49b16ad.png

I think there's a lot of RTs with similar skillsets and I'd be fine with getting Iowa's Gennings Dunker in round 2.  Here's what I want by the end of round 2 selection (LT, RT & WR) and I'm fine with going WR before RT.

Now, I'm fine going BPA the rest of the draft.

So we can’t fix this unless we reach for a left tackle at 6?

I say reach because it appears the left tackle prospects aren’t Top 10 material.

According to who?  Mock drafts in January?

Someone just whipped up Kadyn Proctor (Nate Newton Jr) as a #6 overall. He scares me because I'm not sure he has the lateral movement to play LT at 374 lbs.  My guess is he'll play OG (like Nate Newton did).  He could be a great Guard and solid run blocker like Newton.

I'm just a fan that needs his day job; but watching an OL without any help from the offensive tackles for 2 straight years had us witness 3 wins 1 year and 5 wins the next.  Not fun.

Wild card round losers get placed next in order by worst to best record.  Jax has the best record so far of the losers or potential losers unless NE loses we will be 24

Gothcha. I was putting too many teams in the playoffs, 14 and not 16 like I was thinking. 18 were already eliminated first. Still rooting for NE to lose to the Chargers. That puts us at #23.

  • Looks like the NE win puts us at #24.

I'm not trying to be obnoxious here; unfortunately, that comes more easily than I'd like it to sometimes. Okay, so I'm feeling like I'm trying to sell tanning beds in the tropics here.  No worries, I love every DAMN 1 of yuz. I just want to challenge our collective minds here to dig deeper on what's stopping the show via our personnel on the field aside from any coaches you feel are responsible. In particular, what position(s) are doing that so I'll try to guide you here. If you're not interested - I understand...

What's the most important position in an NFL Offense today?   If you don't have 1 before the draft - do you reach to get 1 in a very limited supply for a big demand?  Why or why not?

What other position(s) do you protect this investment best from on the field?   If you don't have one or two do you reach if there's a limited supply of this/these position(s)?  If not, could trading back a little for an additional pick or 2 help us out?

I wondered who you might like in the IU trenches. Coogan transferred from Notre Dame. Do you think Smith has the feet to stick at OT or is he another “might be better as a Guard” guy?

Building my QB, OL & WR viewing list for this off-season including the website work.  So far, my thoughts are from just watching live and some sky cam replays.  So a bit "rough draft-ish"...   but early impressions on his arch step are solid.

Myself, @flugel...possibly @dutch-oven (and anyone else that's willing to join) will be tagging along with me for some film review for OTs on my RunThe9 channel either tonight or tomorrow.

I'll give you an expanded review once I've charted more snaps for Smith.

  • It should be interesting to see how he does against Miami's edge Reuben Bain,Jr and or others along their DL.

    Follow me.

I’ll humor you…Two most important components of football in 2026 1. The passer 2. Affecting the Passer (getting after him and protecting him.

We partially agree but we have a core difference.   I agree we are bad because we can’t block and we can’t catch the football and sometimes we can’t throw the ball.  And I’ve said a few days ago we are repeatedly in this cycle not just because of the things mentioned above but because we repeatedly fumble the gift we are given over and over again picking at or near the top of the draft.  You take elite talent I say gold jacket type talent at or near 6 overall.  If there is a tackle that emerges as gold jacket type talent that should be the tiebreaker between say Caleb Downs and unknown elite tackle.  Take Elite talent over good talent.  Even if good talent quenches the largest thirst.

Having said all this in different way again. I said Downs at 6…but maximizing positional value of picking at 6 I wouldn’t take a WR, QB or OT but I’d trade back and grab preferably a tackle may consider a WR.

where did we draft Bitonio? Where did Buffalo draft Teller?  Mitchell Schwartz wasn’t too shabby where was he drafted?

If we need a center sometimes it isn’t wise to force it and take a cam Irving or tackle and take Jed Wills.

The draft can still be heavily (and it should) invested in OT, G and WR spots
