  • If Mac Jones did indeed hit Sauce Gardner in his “private parts” then this reaction makes sense.  (I copied and pasted that)

I guess you wouldn't have liked football back when Jack Lambert, Dick Butkis, etc. played.

One of my golf partners doesn't like Myles Garrett because of his hitting the Steeler QB over the head with his own helmet.  🙂  Doesn't matter how many times I tell him, But that's not how Myles really is.

Actually, I never saw Jack Lambert as a dirty player. He was just viciously intense. Watched him in college. Actually a few friends and I found some extra student tickets for him and his roommate for their families and friends in town - the request came from Gary Pinkel, a TE -  we met him personally when he came to pick up the tickets.

Pinkel never made it to the pros. He had a terrific coaching career, though. Don James was the HC and had a magic about him.

Did I despise Jack Lambert with the steelers ? nope. Just hated the team. LOL

I actually was walking through the door, to walk a gal home to her apt one night, and the door of the old Robin Hood Inn opened before I got it, there was Jack Lambert. Tall guy, skinnier than you would expect. He stepped out of the way politely and said "Hi" and never saw him again in person...

and Butkus - the rules were different back then. He was like Jack Lambert - very seriously and viciously intense playing the game. More violent. But not a dirty player.

Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus of the Chicago Bears was not considered a dirty player in his day, just among the meanest and nastiest. Butkus and similar players such as Green Bay's Ray ...

So you didn't see the hit he put on Brian Sipe as Sipe was running out of bounds then?

well, crap. I don't remember that one. Maybe I was ...no, I just looked it up, 1978 - I was already out of the AF.

Lambert says this in this article:

    https://www.latimes.com/archives/blogs/sports-now/story/2011-02-01/sports-legend-revealed-was-jack-lambert-ejected-from-a-game-for-hitting-a-quarterback-too-hard

"A great Steelers Tribute site repeated the same story, along with a quote from Lambert about his ejection: ‘Dreith said I hit Sipe too hard. I hit him as hard as I could. Brian has a chance to go out of bounds and he decides not to. He knows I’m going to hit him. And I do. History.’"

and what video there is, Lambert should have not hit Sipe. I really don't remember that one. Must have been something important that made me miss that game.

Let's just say that was the reason David Mays was starting at QB in the rematch I attended in Cleveland.  This was the game in 1976 when the actions of Turkey Jones reminded Lambert of the precedent he set with that cheap shot on Sipe "I saw what you did & I know who your QB is." ?  And Pittsburgh's QB Terry Bradshaw was actually in-bounds like the pictures show below. Moral of the story, honor thy golden rule or DON'T - but there WILL BE consequences.  I don't remember any further issues from Lambert after that; and I certainly don't remember any Steelers wanting any part of Turkey Jones.  In fact, I don't remember any further issues with QBs on either side until Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph became BFFs well over 40 years later...  The Browns went 9-5 in that 1976 season under Forrest Gregg and didn't make the playoffs. That was a lot like when they were 10-6 during Joe Thomas' rookie season in 2007 and didn't make the playoffs.  I'd love to see other fanbases go through what we have especially when I hear how wonderful GB and Pittsburgh fans are way too much...  Before that game, I only saw Cleveland live when they visited Orchard Park.  After it?  My dad drove us to Cleveland for a game once or twice a year usually once.  However, he had an antenna on the house and a huge one on the top of our hill in the back yard that enabled us to watch the Browns almost weekly before satellite dishes came along.  We even got occasional feeds out of Ottawa Canada in French.

  • If Shedeur played in 2026, they put everything around him, and it didn’t work out, there is no excuse for anybody, whether you support him or not, to say, ‘I see why the Browns have to go in 2027 and get a quarterback,'” Bush said.

Since we're not in position to get 'the' QB...we should use the draft picks to build the OL & WR position...which a new (or current) QB would be absolutely requiring anyway.  To trade our picks away for the #1 pick THIS year leaves the new QB in a mess of an offense...again.

Can't believe I missed this quote from Bush you posted and your response to it.  Well said.  The ever elusive "next year" will have all the QBs that the Raiders, Jets and Browns scared back to college for 1 more year. Speaking of more with a different spelling - Dante Moore needs to go back and straighten out everything but his accuracy.  All doable basics that can be conquered by daily repetition in practice. For example, taking snaps cleanly without those hitting his hands then landing on the ground. Every play starts every practice should have the Center-QB tandem working at (no different than a WR spending extra time catching passes from on a jugs machine to sharpen hand-hand-eye coordination. For example volume II, integrate drills handing off and pitching or whatever you're going to use within the offense. For example volume III, watch film of your OL and your opponent's pass rush so you have an idea where you could/should be feeling pressure as well as how much time you may have.  This can be situationally practiced as well with whatever way they practice.  If he cleans up all those things - he can be as undisputed as Fernando Mendoza has made himself imo...

  • Build that OL and then see what kind of QB we already have as he learns to read and throw faster. He has the arm and he has they moxie. Just needs a bit more time.

I have no idea how good Sanders can be long-term, but I'll be interested in seeing how he looks with a full NFL off-season.

    Adam Schefter did too.

Well after all, they did retire his jersey in Colorado. ?

I didn't know the "Rooney Rule" applied to the pro bowl, too......

  • So, Stefanski’s only pro bowl QB here was Shedeur? ??

  • Great for him!  But it's sad.  Nobody wants to be bothered with it so they have to go down the list until they find someone who'll go...and he gets to be a pro bowl player.  Just do away with the festivities  and return the honor of being a pro bowler.  Shedeur shouldn't be one.

    Another DEI participation award..

  • A great point, shows just how corrupt the NFL seems to be, more and more.

    https://www.profootballnetwork.com/how-did-shedeur-sanders-make-pro-bowl/

    "

Before today, Patriots QB Drake Maye, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, and Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert were the three QBs listed on the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster. With Maye going to the Super Bowl, his spot needed to be filled, hence why Sanders had the opportunity to be named to the roster. Still, there was more that led to Sanders being the NFL’s choice:

The AFC’s Pro Bowl QBs were Drake Maye, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert.

Maye is going to the Super Bowl. The other two are banged up. We’ll see if they stay.

    Bo Nix got injured.
    Patrick Mahomes is injured.
    Daniel Jones is injured.

That’s how it trickles down to Shedeur… https://t.co/YdPE9vv4cd

    — Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) January 26, 2026

As NFL insider Ari Meirov lays out, Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, and Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones are all injured. All three of these options could have, and probably would have, been the names the NFL chose from, but instead, this honor went to Sanders."

    **************************************************

and now, for that great point:

"Looking at other options the NFL had, even with the three QBs above being injured, it’s hard to argue that Sanders was more deserving. One player in particular who jumps out is Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.

His team was 13-4, and Lawrence is a league MVP nominee. Using PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, we can see that he is ranked 16th overall among all QBs this season, while Sanders is ranked 46th.

48 NFL quarterbacks qualified for PFSN’s QB Impact metric in 2025.

    Shedeur Sanders ranked 46th, with a 56.9 grade. ? https://t.co/6FfjfekyY0 pic.twitter.com/VsBVvbQlDS"

    *****************************************

so, Lawrence is the wrong skin color when the NFL had a chance to be bigoted again? (referring to the way the superbowl halftimes have been going, the political messages on helmets....)

  • Let's see that point again for emphasis:

  • Oh the boomers are outraged again.

  • Was it DEI when Mac Jones was made pro bowl alternate?

I guess this would imply Huntley was a DEI.

    What this tells you is

    a) pro bowl is essentially meaningless award

    b) the vast majority of people dont know how alternate works at this point.  Lawrence was already an alternate, so this means he declined
