Rumor: Browns to Play First Game in Paris

The Browns Board

  • Heard something this morning that the Browns are going to play the Saints October 25th in Paris.

  • Well, boo.

It will be interesting to see if there's any support in Paris for the NFL.

The people there are mainly snobby & arrogant. They like American money but don't like Americans.

Yes I have been to France once... They pretty much live in their own bubble... Spaniards can be obnoxious too...

And in our current situation that sentiment is probably amplified.

Try using a little common sense and take a free on-line course in their language. Only takes a couple of months and even stumbling through you get treated totally differently. It takes me about 3-4 days to get back somewhat fluently when I go to Spain. But when I humbly ask for help and for meanings/corrections of words, the whole attitude changes to one of not only acceptance, but of assistance and appreciation that an American is trying his best. Same for my wife with her high school French in France. Oddly enough I can read & understand French with my Spanish and English background, just don't quite pronounce it like my wife can. And I did the Italian BBC free course on line before going to Italy and was passable there. One last tip. It helps immensely to compliment the best things you see about their country even if you stumble through the compliment.

I thought so too until I spent some time there

Normandy is the most powerful place on the planet that I've visited

Normally I'd agree. Now in my brief time there (3 nights back in 2013)  the vendors and hotel personnel were fine, the general public were rude. Truly an unwelcoming population IMHO.

New York City is about as linguistically diverse as it gets so it is hard to hammer on someone that doesn’t speak English, Spanish, French, Farsi, etc.  I believe they are  more tolerant to tourists because NYC is made of people going to work in the city or people visiting as tourists (probably predominantly made up of tourists).

I experience the same thing in San Diego.  I laugh because SD natives talk about how they have “midwestern friendliness”.  Yeah right - do you stop and change a tire besides the one time where fake boobs had a blow out on the road?  Do you invite your neighbor over for dinner?  Do you have block parties?
Do you know where your neighbor works, etc.?  Very surface level interaction.  We are made up of more residents than tourists though…I don’t mind the repeated  “tourists” questions  I hate the way they drive and I hate that it is next to impossible to do a staycation here for lack of availability during peak seasons other than that it is all good.

When they were here …I could never root for the Chargers.  The fans were so fair weather and unsupportive half the time.   Very few diehards

Tbh there aren’t many French people left  in Paris. It’s more like a city in Africa now.

Kinda like London with the Middle East thrown in then too??

Fortunately I sometimes get to use my Spanish with our friends here from the south once they realize I'm not turning them in to ICE (Gestapo 2.0).

Unfortunately yes. All major cities in the UK contain Islamic ghettos now.

Here's a hint though. Let them know what an arrogant imbecile we have for a president. You'll get immediate recognition as an astute observer.?

Actually it's a very true comment which fared very well in England this past fall. It's good advice for anyone visiting Europe. Most Americans have no idea how disparaging our NATO allies are of Dear Leader all the way down to the common person on the street. And believe me they want to know where you stand.
