You know, I've focused so much on tackles that I think are legit Left Tackles in the NFL.

We still have the GM who took a college RT in Jed Wills to play LT for us.

All the top tackles could very well be in play.

I agree.  We need both sides at tackle.  If we take a RT and he becomes a good player, I am good with that.

I have never been a LT or bust guy.  If the LT of the future isn't there, don't try to manufacture one. Don't take a 95% good RT and try to make him a 60% good LT.

Just for shits and giggles, I watched some clips of Mauigoa this week.  Not that I haven't seen some before that per say; but I've been so busy trying to convince myself I know what we need 1st in the land of white noise.  Anyway, whenever Miami runs the ball and there's a tall blade of grass in Mauigoa's path - someone is getting John Deere tractor'd and it ain't Mauigoa. I don't care how long his arms are if the worst OL in the NFL desperately needs help - there's the ghost of Keith Jackson narrating his video: "Folks if you ever had a crazy thought in your head wondering what it would be like to take on a freight train - big ole #61 is putting on quite a clinic today about why you should reconsider. He's big, he's bad, and he'll gitchya!"

My point is - we're all just passionate fans so as much as we know about our team it still doesn't matter if we are right in here or not.   We're here to talk about our team, share/challenge our opinions and have fun.  It's okay to be wrong in here sometimes since we'e not getting paid to make the right choices.  That said, it's fun when hindsight gives us a "Thatta boy!" every now and then.

As we approach the draft, and have gotten within the two week mark, I think I've settled on the idea of taking Carnell Tate at 6 and Lomu at 24. That's kind of my "somewhat dream" scenario.

I say somewhat dream because I don't think Tate is a legit #1 WR prospect, but if he can become Tee Higgins, I'd be ok with that. Surround him with a good WR complementary pieces, a good running game, and Fannin and this offense can hum. I love the idea of getting Lomu at 24, even if I know his rookie season could be bumpy. Might take a season or two to see his potential.

My real dream scenario is for the Browns to be able to trade down from 6. I heard yet another Cowboys trade idea with the Browns - the Browns trade their #6 and 39 picks to the Cowboys for their #12 and 20.

Thus, the Browns would go down six spots with their first pick, but would go up four spots with their second pick and 15 spots with their third pick. #6, 24 and 39 vs #12, 20, and 24.

The dirty dozen days till draft day in Pittsburgh.. Any I hate the Steeler shirts going to NFL draft?  ?

The quite no hitter topic in the room....

    IF ! !

What if * Joel Bitonio does announce his retirement this week ? (it's really odd no pictures of or working out?)

Where would your draft plans change to address the LG position if any?

Does Vega Loane/Mauigoa become a trade up/down option ? (Fano needs to beef up weight?)

    WR/ LT/ LG/ Slot Corner?

Honestly I haven't expected Bitonio to come back considering he almost retired after the 2024 season. I haven't thought of him at all when considering this draft, because even if he returns you have to think he's done after this coming season.

And as I've said numerous times, this team is being built for Brookpark. That's why I'm not discounting the idea the Browns could take Downs, Styles, Reese or Bailey at 6. Ward probably will be retired by 2029 and Garrett - if he's still even with the Browns - will be approaching his mid 30s by then.

Let's put it this way - we're showing up to an all you can eat dinner buffet on a very empty stomach; so everything looks delicious while we need to make healthy consumer selections. Gumbs, I also think we need a LBer that can be almost/as good as Devin Bush was at defending the pass. I'm not sure the FA LB we recently signed gives us this as much as he gives us depth; but I could be wrong there.

As much as I hate saying this, I hope Bitonio retires and leaves us nothing but fond memories of his GREAT career here. LOVED that guy from the land and background of Offensive Guards are people too...

Got a sequoia ball crush on LB Anthony Hill Jr from Texas. I've watched Anthony Hill gain steam to inside pick #50 now..(posted highlight video somewhere) And LT from Miami Markell Bell ? steaming from a over #300 prospect to inside the Top 100 now.. NFL GM's love Big Molly's! Bell's got a better start on Proctor... in weight loss program. Markell Bell did visit with Browns..so AB has turned under every rock in LT options .. stay tuned folks !

No, not at 6, I don't think any of the tackles are worthy of the #6 pick.

I have a tough time not drafting Downs at six.  If the Browns are determined to go offense with the six pick? I would seriously consider trading down, a bit, but only if Tate was picked by the Giants at five. After a trade down, I'd pick Freeling at that 10?12? pick, and Olaivavega Ioane, OG, at 24.

I just wish we had about 4 first round draft picks. The draft is going to be great fun.

You can.  It's better to draft the best players.  They help you win games.  This year, in a draft where teams don't see great value, it might make sense for the Browns to trade up from 24 since asking prices seems to be down.  Trade up to get the tackle you covet.  It couldn't cost that much to move up from 24 to mid teens.

FWIW, after showing up extremely out of shape to 2 of 3 Training Camps predisposing Dawand Jones to 3 IR endings and 3 surgeries (albeit the last one seemed like quite an avoidable cheap shot to his knee) - Dawand Jones has his weight down to 359 lbs and he wants to get it to 350 lbs per his interview with Nathan Zegura.   During that interview Jones said he's been very committed to his post rehab/offseason strength and conditioning and he's been playing some hoops and will continue doing all of that.  When asked if the hoops was a good idea - he said something along the line like he knows how to keep out of harm's way on the court.  My guess is that means he refrains from playing defense and avoids jumping in crowds as often as possible.  Simply put - he can bring the lazy especially now that he can use it as a rational excuse.  Anyway, I heard Berry say earlier this year he was very happy to hear Jones was given a clean bill of health to play in 2026.

Why all that?  Well, someone may think they have the rationale if they boycott LT at #6 without foresight of a strong possibility that Lomu, Freeling and other potential 1st round options at LT go before pick #24.  Low supplies for big demands in many previous drafts have triggered earlier than anticipated runs on a position where all BPA stuff goes right to the back seat.  I have read/heard all the clearer thinking from draft analysts on tv/internet that aren't put in this type of position that NFL Teams/GMs get confronted with during a time restriction loaded with distractions like other teams calling; aside from an owner like Jimmy instantaneously coming down with a light bulb moment with the QB position he has yet to understand. "There's this High School QB in Vancouver that just graduated and says he's not only ready for the NFL but he's also the son of Archie Manning's distant cousin - so giddy-up and let the pigeons loose on those phones kids!"  Meanwhile Jimmy's having severe side effects from his brand new Erectile Dysfunction drug Mycoxaflappin - not approved by the FDA but strongly endorsed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Well...  A few Right Tackles don't make a Left; but we've witnessed a lot of FO science in Cleveland so this may not be the dream but the 6'7" 325 pound LT - Caleb Tiernan from Northwestern has 43 starts (with the majority at LT) with Big 10 battle tests he experienced playing for Maryland & Northwestern. I'm thinking he goes in round 2 but wouldn't be surprised if he sneaks into the back end of round 1. Like many other Tackles in this draft - he doesn't escape the arm length scrutiny so extensive film study is required... If the Dawand Jones situation suddenly bucks trend in the right direction toward reliability - the Tiernan alternative may not be as bad as people may think. The 1 thing I am sure about is I'm not sure.
