PFT is reporting that Brady Quinn's house is for sale
-
1st ,3rd or 6th pick it doesnt really matter...bq has been treated unfairly by this club and unlike anything i have ever seen has not been given a chance to show what he has(if anything)..its almost as if he was setup to fail to make an excuse for a fire sale...
Fact is it really doesnt matter who is under center the poison fan kool-aid and the illusion that this club is improving with DA under center will be shattered over the next 4 tuff games and then likely over the next few years as the team is rebuilt yet again only this time in mangini's fat failing image...

Everybody here who supported Quinn said he won the very fair QB competition, including me. Now you're making excuses as to why he was set up to fail by the very coach who awarded him the job? The worst rated QB in the NFL gives this team more of a chance to win, yet that is everyones fault but the actual player who got benched. Amazing. Not too many thoeries dumber than that.

I dont think anyone is/was worried with the competition and preseason Vegas. I think the people who have concerns if pulling Quinn was the right decision (based on what we saw in the entire game - not just Quinn's stats/play) are basing those concerns off of the 2.5 games he played.
I personally have never seen NFL games called so poorly in my entire life. And being in Virginia, I've seen a lot of Joe Gibbs v 2.0 football.
Are we to believe Braylon was only dogging it when Anderson was on the field? Cant have that theory both ways you know... Cribbs isnt a legit #2 WR only when Anderson plays? Nope. Robert Royal ? Please. Zero Mike Furrey? Robo cleaning the bleachers after games? MoMass tossed in on a situational basis? Turnstile right side of OL? Every single one of these "excuses" has been addressed and improved. After Quinn was benched. Which is really odd.
Quinn's performance sucked out loud. Derek's has continued to break the sound barrier for going on 2 seasons now. Can't say there is a c-o-n-spiracy, but if the plan was to eventually move Quinn, he was way more valuable in April than he is now. And that decision certainly did not require the 1st 2 and a half games (if you can call them that). Mangini gets an F for the management of this situation. While many are ready to paint the gameball Mangini got from the team last week with various shades of lipstick, he's got a lot of improvement to make, before I get "back on board." Not losing isn't going to cut it for me. I want to see a win, if you're going to be the "my way or highway" type of coach.

none of this would be an issue if DA came in and outplayed BQ. so far DA has played worse than quinn against far worse teams, and we've seen no signs of him being benched. BQ was 6-8 and got benched. DA just went 2-17 in an entire game, and they didn't even have Quinn warming up on the sidelines. Thats kinda telling.
that is why you are getting people with conspiracy theories.
-
Finally..... Get him outta here
-
Ya, and if Ratliff blows, Mangini just punched his ticket out of town.
How do you know that?
Here is a hint: Quinn's mechanics sucks, they always have sucked, they always will suck. This is something you can't teach. The guy has no faith in his ability and it shows.
Keep on believing. Fantasy can be a hard thing to stop trying at.

WTH are you posting in response to. That quote had NOTHING to do with Quinn.

If Quinn's practice reps have dried up, yeah. I'd want out to. If you aren't getting any practice reps how are you supposed to improve?
If true, I'd be making a big xxxxing stink to be traded.
I wonder if it comes down to he said/she said - do the coaches believe Quinn or the rat?

I don't think anyone is blaming him. I would do the same thing. Good luck Brady.

on the bright side, if it were to occur, no more QB controversy !

3rd and a 5th...3rd and a 5th.
Man, I don't know. That doesn't seem like a lot. But then again if we start him more there's a high chance his value plummets further...

I think the book on him is REALLY mixed around the league, from what I'm reading. Some think he'll be a career backup, an A.J. Feeley type of player... but others haven't lost faith that he's a big-time quarterback, believing that he got epically hosed in Cleveland. Keep in mind that EVERYBODY saw him as a Top 10 type of player out of college, including Kiper and company. As King said, did he really just suddenly wake up and suck this year, after a nice debut last year and a good preseason this year? How come?
He had a good debut last year because Denver had a crappy game plan against him. They figured out by the 4th quarter that he won't go deep, he's captain checkdown. They were still rspecting the deep ball before that. Notice after the third quarter of the Denver game his stats took a nosedive?
Captain Checkdown.

I think it's pretty crazy, too... and Quinn should have started at least until the bye. He played against three great defenses with one WR who couldn't catch and another who wasn't a WR, no running game, and severe restrictions.Agreed, it wasn't at all pretty. But I was still shocked when he was pulled. Intrigued and a little hopeful... but still shocked. Now that Anderson has blown ass, it looks even crazier.
I think the 11 mill thing comes into play, given a few things Mangini has said about saving money that will improve the team in the offseason. Quinn needs to start about 11 games to make his money, so the plan might have been to let Anderson suck for a few more games and check into Quinn after the bye.
I don't think Quinn is down with that plan, though.
Shep, I won't argue with the craziness of it but I will say that I think that the willingness to look off of the deep routes for the check downs was a problem for this coaching staff to accept. I don't know it for a fact but I have it on authority that I trust. I think that what this says to me is that they never really wanted Quinn and were starting him to make a point and are moving on.

I think the incentives were the nail in the coffin, too.
Pretty good break down, if no one's read it:
"Cleveland Browns QB Conspiracy Corner
This is a new feature of mine. It will run this one time. Then it will be gone. Until it comes back.
When I started writing my piece yesterday about the QB Break Down (double-entendre alert!), I never had an honest thought in my head that by the time I was done DA would actually have been named the starter. Call it wishful thinking; call it naivetĂ©; call it whatever you must. The fact is, I never dreamed that after only 2.5 games anyone would be willing to say theyâd seen enough of Brady Quinn to know he had no future with this team.
Alas, I was wrong.
But, I donât think itâs that simple. As Keyser Soze once opined, âThe greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didnât exist.â So, while some may choose to believe that Brady Quinn got hosed, and that Eric Mangini is merely trying to net some offense to stave off the wolves at the door for awhile at the expense of long-term development, I think the answer has been hiding right in front of our faces all along.
1. Brady Quinnâs contract is laden with incentives.
As Deep Throat (the Nixon guy, you pervs) once stated, âFollow the money!â Itâs not a secret that Quinnâs deal has escalators that kick in after he plays a certain percentage of the teamâs snaps as well as anything stats-related. Itâs not a secret that the lionâs share of DAâs money has already been paid out in bonus form. By pulling Quinn in favor of Anderson after such a short period of time, Mangini has all but guaranteed that Quinn cannot reach those escalators, and will cost much, much less against the salary cap, and will also make him more tradeable.
2. Eric Mangini never wanted Quinn as his starter to begin with.
Why else would this competition have gone on so long in the pre-season? Why else would Andersonâa guy we already have quite an extensive tome on with respect to his strengths and weaknesses as a playerâkeep getting so many chances? Why else would Mangini insist that Brett Ratliff be included in the trade with the Jets on draft-day?
3. Mangini wanted an excuse to get rid of Quinn.
Following up on #2, Mangini knew that it would be a mistake simpy to cut Quinn, which would basically tell the fan base, âLook, weâre going to suck on ice for the next two years, so weâre just going to with the guy whoâs under the expensive contract and will keep the seat warm until I can get more of my guys in here on both sides of the ball to be ready for a new QB of the future.â To do so would be a PR suicide. Browns fans are nothing if not willing to forget things in the short-term and go into almost every season with some kind of blind optimism. Why urinate on that before the season even started?
4. Mangini set Quinn up to fail.
Because of #2 and #3, Mangini pre-orchestrated a plan to give Quinn a minscule shot so that he could say to the fan base, âSee? We tried. It didnât work. Time to move on to Plan B-as-in-âBlow Upâ folks,â and at the first sign of struggle would then jettison the Golden Domer in favor of Anderson to ride out the next two years while DAâs still under contract. Why else would we have such crappy play-calling game-in and game-out? Why else would the playcalling open up somewhat once DA was inserted in the third quarter on Sunday? Why else would Josh Cribbs be the starting #2 wide receiver when he hasnât showed enough to merit that continued opportunity?
5. The Smoking Gun: Brian Robiskie will not only be active on Sunday, but will start opposite Edwards.
Mangini will announce that Robiskie made great strides in practice this week, and not only will he be active, but will start and make an impact. Cincinnatiâs secondary is by far their weakest area, and Mangini will set Anderson up to look light years better than Quinn in an effort to justify moving Mr. Myoplex at the trading deadline for additional draft picks.
Itâs all part of the master plan, folks. Mangini played us all like fiddles in an effort to get Quinn out of here and buy some time to build a team for his own QB in 2011, whether it be Ratliff or someone else not yet on the roster.
And, in a final move, Quinn will rip off his Browns jersey on Sunday to reveal a Dolphins jersey underneath, will hit Mangini with a folding chair, and then climb to the top of the benches and deliver one last flying elbow to the lumbar region, marking the end of this clowny chapter in Browns QB history."
It is actually lame. Why would a coach put his job on the line just to save money for the team ? Also Robiskie did not play in the Cincy game. Mangini is not here to play punkd. He is trying to do things his own way without caring for anyone and he will continue to do so until Lerner has had enough.

I know. Why would a coach care if a player gets performance bonuses if he gives his team the best chance to win? They would not. I'm not buying the conspiracy theory, but I will buy that Quinn simply doesn't have what it takes. It's amazing that people will concoct conspiracy theories before they believe Quinn just isn't that good.

Mark, I don't think Parcells would take a guy like Quinn as one of his "Commandments of QBs" is to "never have a celebrity QB".

That is exactly how I feel, and especially about the BUF game. CLE didn't win, they just didn't lose.

And what is this difference in playcalling everyone keeps talking about?
Could it be tha tQuinn just didn't execute? Captain Checkdown?

Do you mean the same playcalling that the people who want DA to play are complaining about?
I observed how plain our playcalling was this week. I thought it was Quinn that was holding the playbook back. The playbook changed (because Anderson can't throw short passes at all), but it still sucks.
Seems like that is an indictment that neither of these guys are worth a damn.

I think its more of an indictment that Daboll is not worth a damn.
