Who Would You Take With The First Pick Next Year

The Browns Board

  • For obvious reason i didnt put Luck on here because he wont be available as well as alot of these guys wont like i believe A.J. Green will be gone so im sure he'll grab all these votes but more than likely he will not be there...But if you had the decision who would you draft and why you can even throw in a second round selection if you'd like...Im going Justin Blackmon or Marcel Dareus because i believe they'll be there when we select and Green wont

  • Sorry for this topic guys i had a poll set up with over 20 players and wanted it to be a poll question but it didnt go through

  • Don't be so sure of Green not being there..., some of the teams ahead of us right now have more pressing needs than WR. Plus, if he isn't there, go after Julio Jones. And if the Blackmon you speak of is the one from Okie St, well, he is only a sophomore so scratch that off your list.

  • Julio Jones or AJ Green... Looks like a good possibility. Although, I think it would be better to get a *WR that isnt a Drama Queen.

    *Or is that a myth?

  • I'm no draft guru like others on here, but I have been begging, pleading, whining for a IMPACT defensive player, at LB or D-LINE.

I know our offense is vanilla as hell, in need of a great WR. We should try to get a good one in the draft or FA (is Larry Fitzgerald available?) I put the priority on D folks, we need to STOP the RUN in order to contend in the AFC North.

  • Green or Jones. Later on I would grab McNutt from Iowa, or is it MizzU? I forget. He's big, smart, and plays multiple positions. I want Colt to have two big targets out there next year, both with good hands.

Try again using full edit. I am interested in your top 20

  • We're moving up in the draft (and down in the standings). If we draft 6th or 7th, we can get Green. At 10, it's probably Jones or Blackmon. But I'm pretty certain we'll go WR in a very good WR draft.

Everything else depends on free agency. We have four target positions atop our plan, I bet: WR, DE, RT, and linebacker. We really could use both an ILB (maybe DQJ resigning) and a pass rusher, so make that five targets.

Hillis and McCoy are the future on O. I really like what McCoy shows. Hillis is a grinding power back needed to compete in the cold tough AFC north. You can get a good WR in 3rd round! First 2 picks should be on D. Two impact players on D wins all the close ones the Browns have lost the last couple years. You don't need to build a team to compete with Cincy, you need a tough team like the Steelers and Ravens. Right now the Browns are a good 5-11 team which can take the next step if they draft right.

  • Drafting around #10:

At this point in time, in order: AJ Green (WR), Akeem Ayers (OLB), Julio Jones (WR), *top rated 3-4 Dline or any top CB that slips*

  • Blackmon is a redshirt sophomore hes coming out after this year id be shocked if he decieded to stay

  • Also i see the Bungholes grabbing A.J. Green and letting Ochoco and TO go

  • Yeah, lots of talk about the Bengals taking Green. That'd really piss me off.

We won't go looking for a #1 WR in round three. That'd be nuts and totally unfair to McCoy. You can take a guy for development there (Taylor Price) or as an additional stretch the field threat (Emmanuel Sanders) or just get lucky (Shipley)... but a team with a gaping hole at #1 WR doesn't go fishing in that pond.

We almost certainly have the worst set of WRs in the entire league. Nobody goes into this draft with a more obvious need at WR than the Browns. We have needs on the front 7, but we also have players (Rubin, Rogers, Coleman, Smith, Schaefering, Fujita, Gocong, Benard, and maybe DQJ). It's not a fully stocked shelf... but it isn't bare, either. I could see the 2nd round and a prime f/a slot going there.

BTW, I really don't think we'll stop with the high pick at WR. We'll also sign a free agent. We're incredibly weak there.

  • I cant see the Bengals letting both Ochocinco and TO get away. One of them? Sure(prolly TO), but not both. You dont want to go into a season with your top options at Wide Receivers being Jerome Simpson, Shipley, and Jermaine Greshman, all of who have started like a combined 17(just a guess) games. They are going to need some experience so they will prolly keep Ochocinco. I think Ochocinco is under contract, or there is a team option for this year anyways...

I would put the Rams as a team that really needs a WR too.

  • I want Haloti Ngata.

Oh wait...philbert already gave him away to our rival so we could draft a bust instead...

  • Everything I've read has Julio Jones going to the Browns because many believe Green will be off the board. I'm not a big college football fan and only follow the Panthers in a hit or miss fashion. I've always been a NFL guy that being said I think no matter who you draft the current Coach needs to remain unless Holmgren is going to come out of the box which I sincerely doubt. The team needs some continuity and with a good draft this past season keeping Mangini around will only help with this draft and team moral unless Mangini has completely lost the locker room. I doubt he has. Julio Jones is the pick in my opinion and Mangini needs to say. The great teams in the league avoid the Coaching turnstile. I'd say it's time for the Browns to follow suit.

  • I would rather take Blackmon over Jones as Jones has the physical traits that make people wow i believe that blackmon is going to be the better pro, we'll have to wait for the combine but i see Jones running a 4.55 around that area but i would love to have Green he will not be there when we pick give me Blackmon Or Nick Fairley or Marcell Dareus those are my picks but if we take the D in round one we have to try to grab a Jonathan Baldwin or Ryan Broyles in round 2

    I can't believe this, but I agree.

  • Here is my personal WR Board:

AJ Green (Rd 1)- Think Calvin Johnson

Jonathan Baldwin (Rd 1)- Think a faster Vincent Jackson

    Titus Young(Rd 2-3)- Ochocinco/DeSean Jackson Hybrid

Julio Jones(Rd 1-2)- Larry Fitz, with lesser ball skills

Matt Szczur(Rd 3-4)- Think of a cross between Wes Welker and Dexter Mcluster

I think Titus Young is going to surprise people in the NFL much like Ochocinco did being from the second round, I really like that guy, ALOT!!

On Defense, Robert Quinn is the only standout no-brainer

Rogers and Coleman will be 32 next year, Smith will be 34 and has been on IR all year. That leaves Rubin and who? The oldest receiver on the team is Stuckey at 27, D-line is a must right now. Our young WR's have shown there getting better and its only their 2nd year. This team is being built to win long term. The long term receiver situation looks promising, long term d-line situation looks retired. My money says were drafting D-line 1st rd.
