I'll have to look into this...would we want to replace Ryan with Jauron?

    *************************

The Browns are reportedly targeting Eagles secondary coach Dick Jauron as Rob Ryan's replacement at defensive coordinator.

Team president Mike Holmgren has moved on from Ryan. He has a strong relationship with Jauron, who was his defensive backs coach with the Packers in the early '90s. Jauron's head coaching experience also makes for a valuable sounding board with Pat Shurmur taking the reins for the first time.Source: NFL.com Related: Eaglespixel.gifpixel.gifpixel.gifpixel.gifpixel.gifleft_corner_player_news.gifCowbos Defese - TMJan. 13 - 9:07 pm etpixel.gifpixel.gifpixel.gifThe Cowboys reportedly have their sights et on Browns DC Rob Ryan to fill the same position in Dallas.

The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram confirms that Ryan will interview Friday. It's no surprise that Rex's twin brother's big personality would appeal to owner Jerry Jones, though his work speaks for itself. Ryan boasts the best track record of the Cowboys' candidates, and he appears to be on the outs in Cleveland after Pat Shurmur's hiring. Ryan would keep the 3-4 scheme intact in Dallas.Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter Related: Browns

I think jauron is a good coach, but I will be praying that we stick with a 3-4. We have no pass rush and switching to a 4-3 would make it that much more blatantly obvious.

Yeah, and he's got ties to Holmgren too.

Not a bad idea at all- bring in a real experienced coordinator (who's had HC experience) to mentor the rookie HC. There's some guys who are great coordinators who were lousy head coaches. Dick LeBeau anyone?

I can see it making sense with his experince and that Shurmur is so young, but i really hope we dont translate back into a 4-3 defense its hard enough with personal around that we do have we need to fill major holes, unless you put Rubin and Rogers at DTs and Then Matt Roth as a DE i dono if he could then who would are other end be?Scott Fujita outside line whos can play Mike middle linebacker unless we Retain D'Q, i dono it'd be hard to put some peices together to make it work...i do like the 3-4 and hope whoever they bring in wants to continue with that scheme

the Browns have run the 3-4 since they came back in 1999,what have they won with it?Its time for the 4-3. New coach new defense!

Our defensive front 7 needs to be revamped anyways and if we were ever going to go back to a 4-3 now would be the time..

Ryan lined our guys up 4-3 quite a bit and they all have various 4-3 experience so i dont really have a problem with switching, both defenses have their ups and downs and we currently lack the necessary personnel to run either efficiently or even through the course of a season due to age injuries..

We have been rebuilding since 1964, Why stop now? GO BROWNS!

it all points towards a 4-3. Holmgren and Heck came from teams that generally played that scheme, and the DCs being mentioned play the same.

All of that also seems to point towards a Dlineman taken with the first pick since we are weak at the position, and thin at the position.

One of Fairley, Bowers, Dareus, or a name not mentioned much, Aldon Smith would fit well on a 4-3 line.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Lol....wow, this is getting sad. Jauron has such invaluable experience commanding the one team the browns have been consistently better than since we returned. Awesome.....

Back to the 4-3....awesome. we get to run the antiquated defense that's predictable and has been going the way of the dodo. I like the arguments for the switch tho.....its obvious that's that we have all the right personnel to run it.....its not like the best defenses in the league are 3-4 (6 of 10), with 5 of which made the playoffs. Jaurons defenses were awesome in Buffalo...lemme tell ya

True, but the Haloti Ngata's and the Kelly Gregg's of the world are hard to find.

                                      Don't forget:

                                      1. Mike Nolan (MIA)

                                      2. Romeo Crennel (KC)

                                      3. Jim Hasslet (WAS)

                                      4. Rod Marinelli (Bears)

                                      5. Gunther Cunningham (DET)

                                      6. Dom Capers (GB)

Some have had better success than others. Three of these coaches fielded playoff teams this year. Romeo has five Super Bowl rings from his defensive coaching efforts. Valid argument regarding coaches finding their niche. Could Mangini be joining this list in the future? JTIOT

I think jauron is a good coach, but I will be praying that we stick with a 3-4. We have no pass rush and switching to a 4-3 would make it that much more blatantly obvious.

So having 4 guys rushing won't be better then 3?

not when Rubin is your only DT with talent... then we are down 3 lineman and still have 0 pass rushers...
