Mangini on Shurmur
-

there something we can agree on..
-
This constant crying is exhausting, how did you guys do it for 2 whole years?
In the end, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FREAKIN WIN ALREADY!
-
The way the Cowboys were playing under Wade Phillips, they were losing, losing, losing. The way they were playing under Jason Garrett they won more than they lost. So you tell me who will win in a 10 game series and I will say, it depends, but in the end the score is the only factor in determining the winner. What did Garrett REALLY change? Was it his shirt, his shorts, his hair, the play calling, the defense.......?????? Something, in the firing of Wade Phillips, caused that team to change from one week to another.
Why were the Browns able to beat the Pats and Saints, but yet lost to lesser teams right after that?
The undefeated Pats didn't win because they lost the SB, hence they didn't go undefeated. A 1-0 team is undefeated and will remain so until they lose their first game.
Undefeated doesn't mean the best since the Super Bowl is used to determine the best (aka Champion) for that year. A fighter can win every round and get knocked out in the final round and still lose.
Seattle won, because on that day for that playoff game, they had a higher score.
Colt, like Mangini, doesn't personally win or lose any given game because it is not a one person sport. The team has a record and you can associate that team record to when the person was playing or coaching but it isn't HIS personal win or loss despite how the media and statistics people try to spin it. Can Colt have a loss in a game while other Brown players win that same game?
Get this right, I think Colt is the future QB. But to say that the W-L record is all anyone should go on with Mangini is like saying Colt sucks because his W-L record sucks. Why doesnt the NFL make the team with the best W-L record the champs then, instead of a team with a lesser W-L record that happens to beat the other team with the better W-L record? What do you think could be the cause of that? Injuries maybe? Strength of schedule maybe? Maybe the Pats had an easier schedule?
Why did AZ go completely down the drain with the same coaches? Losing their starting QB? Hmmm....the backups and depth wasnt that good? (DA, nuff said) You think that MAYBE that played into the entire season with the Browns? You think the Browns in the NFC would have had a better record? Hmmmm, so many things that need to go into the end result here. IF the Browns would have just plain gotten blown out of the water every loss, I would see your point and agree, they didnt, they improved on virtually every statistic WITH A MUCH HARDER SCHEDULE! What does that tell you? Try it, overlooking the W-L record, what does that tell you?

OK, I have read this 5 times and it makes no sense to me, no disrespect meant. I don't understand your point. Did I miss something and the Browns made the playoff's this year and beat someone? "....the cause.." of what? Riddle me this Batman: "Why doesn't the team with the best record not win a game against the other team with a good record when both of the teams records are recorded as improved? Is it beer sales? Maybe the strength coach tripped people? Maybe the Bills of the world had sex with the Pats of the world?

It tells me their statistics improved when they had a harder schedule. So, using your logic, if you need a heart surgeon and I find one that reduced the death rate of his patients by 20% from 2009 to 2010 I should feel great about recommending that doctor to you. What if he killed 30% of his patients in 2009? So if he operated on 100 patients only 30 died in 2009. So in 2010 he only killed 24 people? The average of all heart doctors in the US was only a 4% death rate. Would you have him do your surgery? In this example not killing patients equals wins. You can hide that metric and take your chances, but most sane people would consider it important....much like winning games.

I believe that cddbrowns is just saying that no one could have much better with the talent we have had over the past two years. We were clearly in 2010 than in 2009 (if you can't see that then I'm wasting my time). We got destroyed in almost every one of our losses in 2009, but lost a ton of close games this past year. We gave up more than 28 points once, which no other team can say.
Winning is the bottom line, but not when you are rebuilding. The cowboys and Vikings got rid of their coaches because they were EXPECTED to reach the Super Bowl or the playoffs at the very least. Both teams weren't much better than us. That's why I was for giving Mangini another year to turn the close losses into wins.
That said, I think Shurmur can turn those close losses into wins next year if he keeps the 3-4 defense (no complete overhaul, which is why I think keeping Ryan is probably best). But if we only win 5 or 6 games with an easier schedule (theoretically easier considering we play the NFC West), I would question the firing of Mangini... I believe Mangini could have cashed in on wins next year, but that is my opinion, and like I have said several times, I will give Pat Shurmur my full support and hope he brings us back to consistent success...

...and I shall name my next child Mangini.....

If W-L is the end all be all, then answer the questions. Could a lesser team have a better W-L record if more healthy and in an easier schedule than a better team with a worse record in a much harder schedule with more injuries? That's isn't possible huh?
Second part, really? Heart surgery compared to building a football team? LOL! Immediate results compared to the time it takes to build a football team. But then, that's the problem isn't it? Browns fans expect immediate results, it will NEVER happen until the roster is fixed.

When you're as old as I am you live for immediate results so you can get off your wife and go back to watching ESPN.

Shurmur's 2010 offensive rank was 26th in the league, our offense was ranked 29th. Now THAT'S improvement!
-
Thats exactly right milky..How has that worked out for the Steelers?..6 Super Bowls..DUH..
Morons like Gips and Wrrebel will be screaming for Shumur head if he goes 6 and 10.
The press will get on Shumur ..Lerner will panic and fire everyone..I told you, this team since the
expansion is like Groundhog Day...just keeps repeating the same scenario
The definition of insanity is to keep during the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
HA! So your saying Gips and I played a role in Mangini being fired?
Yet mornons like you were all over a coaches nuts who was 10-22. In the NFL it doesnt take 10 years to turn a team around. At least im holding judgement to see what he puts on the field (shurmur).
Mangini had his chance and FAILED! He is gone.. He was an idiot savant..
Get over it, or go root for your loverboy at ESPN..
The difference between you and I, is my loyalty lies with the Browns. You dont see me crying about my loverboy not coming to coach

And there's the problem. ONLY looking at wins and losses- not taking other factors into consideration. Yeah Kansas City sure turned it around all right- only playing one team with a winning record. Oh, and then they had to play a REAL team in the playoffs- the Ravens- and guess what? They got blown out, just like they would have playing in the AFC North. Instant gratification goobers. Tom Landry went 13-38 his first couple years with suck teams at Dallas. Bill Belichick was nothing home to write about his first few coaching stints. (LOL Modell will go down in history firing two-and maybe three- if Marty ever makes it HOF coaches) So Shurmur doesn't turn it around immediately, can his ass too. That's been the Cleveland way since 1999.
Mangini's gone, can't feel too sorry for a guy who will collect $7 million bucks over the next two years for not working. I just hope Holmgren's right. One thing for certain- I'm not going to be dancing in the streets anytime soon just because the Browns have a new coach.
-
Again I ask, why should I? All the "anti-Mangini" hoping for losses so he would be finally gone out of the NFL guys wouldnt. Now that you guys got what you want you want people to be quiet and accept it? LOL! No chance bro, I SHOULD hope for losses so Shurmur is finally fired and we can find a good HC, just like the haters did. I love the Browns too much for that though unfortunately. Year after year, same old crap, same old loud Browns "fans" getting everything they want with their impatience, thinking the high ups dont listen to them. LOL! Yeah, ok. Lerner is the biggest knee jerk owner moron in the NFL, its sickening.
And youre saying that Holmgren DIDNT hire "his guy" who is signed by "his agent" just like the REST OF THE FO? LOL! Ok then.
I didnt like the mangini hire from the start...Am I glad hes gone?...yes...Do I hate the guy?...No!..I just hate his style of coaching...hes a gameday moron. And no dufus I didnt say Holmgren didnt hire his guy...would you expect him to hire someone that did not agree with his philosphy on the game?...Dont be naive...If your hoping for losses for the new HC you dont deserve to be anymore a fan than I am...Fandom of a team isnt something you wear like clothes and you decide to take it off cuz you decided you dont like the color.

ok. don't get your nickers in a bunch nicker.

All I am going to say on this is I guarantee the same people who called for Mangini's head will be calling for the new guys head after one season if he doesn't take this team to the playoffs and that's not fair. A coach should get more than 2 years except for cases like McDaniels where he did everything he could to get fired.
Can can spout all you want about improvement is in the record, but you are a moron if couldn't see that this team was far improved over last season and that we didn't start playing bad until after alot of our play makers were injured. Hell our whole right side of the o line and most of our defensive leaders went on IR. I don't blame coaches for injuries. I hope this new coach can do great things with our current team with a solid draft and good FA pick ups, and he will have my support for at least 3 years to show us what he can do because this whole 1-2 year bullshit needs to stop.

Shurmur said "process" a WHOLE lot today in his presser. LOL! Here it goes again. "its a process" was the BIGGEST thing everyone held against Mangini. I cant wait for the first legit "FIRE SHURMUR" post.
